To Be Part of This World
The blunt wind rose from the sea, striking through Jongdae without any warning. Jongdae shivered from the cold caress and wrapped his arms around himself in an attempt to conserve any heat in his body. Jongdae was just getting ready to unleash a series of rambles when he realised that despite the strong wind, the sand around him was static. Although his hair was flying in all directions, the environment around him was as neat and organised and motionless as a painting.
“So… It’s a dream again?”
Knowing that there was no one to answer him, Jongdae’s eyes subconsciously drifted towards a corner of the beach. Seeing the figure of the male he was searching for, Jongdae’s question had been answered. Standing in the same position like the previous times, his father was rooted in the sand. This time however, his father wore an adoring and welcoming smile. His arms were extended outwards like a blooming rose, wordlessly prompting Jongdae to finally be where he belonged — in his father’s arms.
Jongdae swallowed the growing lump in his throat. He took a tentative step forward, his movements so delicate in fear of everything around him shattering if he applied just an ounce of too much strength.
With each step he took, Jongdae felt as though he was returning to his younger self; back to the day when the world as he knew it had not yet collapsed and his hero was the brightest shining sun. With each step he took, Jongdae felt a chill stabbing him, which encouraged him to hurry into his father’s embrace. With each step he took, the heavier his feet felt, as though setting roots right then and there, to then be forever bound with his father.
