21 DaysMy eyes were on Keres. For the past hour, he had been sighing and throwing random objects at his table partner. Judging by how his eyes trailed across the class to find a victim to pick on, I knew I was going to be a target. It did not help that it was Miss Venus’s lesson.
"Class, who knows the answer to this question?" Miss Venus’s boring voice drawled. Keres let out a purposeful groan. With a lazy smile, he threw Miss Venus a wicked smile and suggested, "Miss Venus, I think Hyejin knows the answer to that." He turned around to look at me, eyes full of mockery. I had that irresistible urge to wipe that smug expression off his face.
He continued, "Well Hyejin, what is the answer to that? I can't hear you! Oh, I’ve forgotten, Hyejin is mute. Fat pig can't even breathe."
I heard soft chuckles bouncing off the walls of the classroom. Miss Venus’s face clearly showed she was enjoying how Keres taunted me. It was beyond embarrassing. I decided to play it cool instead, and fazed a calm exterior, pretending i heard nothing. Much to my surprise, a loud screeching sound of chair reverberated throughout the class.
