Cereal
Parenting 101Naeun stirred when she felt a peck on her forehead. She overheard Tiffany reminding Taeyeon to prepare breakfast and lunch for their daughter. The other woman, who was so deep in sleep gave no response.
"Remember that." The sound of Tiffany’s loud voice completely woke Naeun up from her sleep.
"Mhmm," was the only reply from Taeyeon as she continued her deep slumber.
Naeun pulled the blanket down, and sat up, huffing while rubbing her eyes.
"Oh hey sweetie. Sorry, I’m already late, can’t make you breakfast. Be a good girl and listen to your Umma, okay?" Tiffany rushed to the front door after giving another quick peck on Naeun’s forehead and on her wife’s cheek.
Still a bit drowsy, Naeun went straight to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face to freshen up. Tiffany always taught her to be independent, to attend to all her necessities by herself, unless she really needed help. Although Taeyeon, on the other hand, was the type to spoil her one and only daughter, the 5-year-old girl was smart enough to believe that she could do anything by herself.
Naeun went to the living room and saw Zero sleeping soundly and decided not to wake the dog up. She switched on the TV to watch Frozen 3 for the nth time. She started feeling hungry after she sang along with Elsa and chose to eat cereal.
The girl went to the kitchen and reached out for the lowest cabinet where the cereal box was stored. Tiffany placed the box there on purpose because, according to her, she was doing a good deed for the two small people living in the house.
She retrieved a bowl and a spoon and brought it to the living room along with the cereal box. As she poured the cereal into the bowl with her small hands, she couldn’t control the amount and by accident overfilled the bowl with cereal, spilling some on the floor too.
