Jungsoo woke up crying.

For a moment, he was so confused that he didn’t know why he was crying so hard. Then he remembered everything. He is gone. His mind reminded him. He’s not coming back.

With the realization that dawned upon him, his tears quickly turned into sobs. His body felt cold. He couldn’t breathe, not because his airways are constricting but because he feels as if the air in his world is gone.

He can still recall how his recently perfect life suddenly collapsed with a single phone call.

“Hello, is this Kim Heechul’s guardian?”

“Yes, Park Jungsoo speaking.”

“You have to go to the Seoul City Hospital urgently Sir. Mr. Kim had an accident.”

Everything turned into a blur after he dropped the line. His mind went autopilot and the next thing he knew, he was running in the hospital corridor towards the emergency room. Heartbreakingly, upon reaching the door, his heart stopped as a distinct high-pitched sound pierced through his ears.

“Time of death, 9:10 pm.”

That was it. Those words by the doctor was the last thing he remembered before he collapsed into the floor. The next days were not any better. The next thing he knew, the funeral was done and he was slumped at the foot of his bed, their bed, staring at the picture hanged on the wall while basking in the cold darkness of the room. Then he felt his tears rolling on his cheeks. He was crying. For the first time since that day, he was crying.
