"WE will celebrate your birthday when we come back."

That was Seulgi's promise to Yujin. Her own statement echoed a hundred times at the back of her head as she stood there frozen, witnessing how the Duke ate Yujin's heart.

"N-No…"

Tears started flooding her face. Her heart ached as if she was going to die herself.

The Duke then turned to his daughters and was about to slaughter them starting from Chaewon but thankfully, Euigeon was there to shield them. He managed to block his claw attack with his sword but the increase in power of the Duke was quick. Euigeon was easily shoved away with the same attack that he blocked.

Irene then jumped in to protect the girls. She managed to push the Duke away with one powerful kick but it seemed like he wasn't hurt at all. He was even laughing like the maniac that he is.

"Yujin-ah!" Irene called out to her daughter but it was too late. Yujin's body has already reverted back to her human form, she's already dead.

"You, bastard!" Irene shouted. Her fangs grew longer so as her nails as her forehead veins started popping out.

"Nothing beats a honhyeol's heart. It's the best food there is." Matthew even taunted them as he his fingers.

"Minjoo, Chaewon! Go and bring Yujin's body far from here." Irene commanded. "Get away from here quickly!"

"U-Unnie…" Minjoo's face was wet with tears, she couldn't even move.

"I said go!" Irene growled, forcing Minjoo to hurriedly move. She, together with her sister, carried Yujin’s body away from the battlefield.

“Chaewon-ah, my dear daughter, be the obedient girl that you always are and come here.” Matthew opened his arms widely. “I promise it will be quick and painless just like what I did to the honhyeol.”

“Shut your dirty mouth!” Irene dashed for an attack but the Duke could clearly see her movements. Before she even landed to where he is, he suddenly disappeared only to appear behind her.

“It’s over now, my dear niece. Just surrender.” He whispered to Irene before giving her an elbow straight to the nape. Irene immediately fell unconscious as she hit the ground. Matthew was ready to give her the final strike when Howl appeared and quickly pulled Irene away from the monster.

The Duke’s sneer widened. “Do you think you can really run away from me?”

He was about to chase after them when fireballs hit him but it wasn’t enough to injure him. What it only did was stop him from going after Irene. He slowly turned to the one who threw the fireballs, his eyes unamused.

Sooyoung, filled with blood from the vampires she had slain, was breathing heavily. She’s also at her limit but she just couldn’t let her best friend's wife be murdered in front of her.

“Get your hands off of our Queen Irene, you monster!” Sooyoung shouted and fired more fireballs at the Duke.

The Duke didn’t even bother to avoid them. He just let them hit him, burn a little of his clothes and dusted them off like nothing. “You’re annoying me.”

Euigeon used the distraction to fire another beam to the Duke but before the beam even hit him, he disappeared right before his very eyes only to find him grabbing Sooyoung by the neck. Seulgi’s eyes widened in fear.

“N-No… Stop…”

“Sooyoung-unnie!” Yerim shouted.

“Aren’t you the one who controls fire?” Matthew raised Sooyoung higher. “Without you, little Seulgi won’t be able to produce those blue flames, right?”

Yerim, despite knowing that she won’t be able to do anything, rushed to help Sooyoung but her greatest fear came into life as she watched how Sooyoung was tossed in the air only to be murdered by the Duke with his blood bullets.

“Sooyoung-unnie!” Yerim shrieked as she watched Sooyoung’s body hit the ground.

The Duke even had the time to blow to his fingers as if it’s a real gun. “Another nuisance discarded.”

“KANG SEULGI!” Euigeon shouted at his sister. “Don’t just stand there! Do some—”

Euigeon was taken aback after seeing the amount of blood Seulgi had bled after getting wounded by the Duke. But what’s even more surprising was that she was still on her feet.

Sobs were heard from Seulgi as the ground started shaking.

“You…” Seulgi growled, sending fear to everyone who heard her voice. Even the ones who were watching the broadcast were filled with fear since not only Scotland’s plates moved, it was the whole earth that was shaking. “What on earth did you just do!?”

The Duke scoffed. “You still have the energy for this? I am surprised since you weren’t as powerful as my first negative toy.”

Seulgi didn’t like what she just heard. An invisible force then started leaking out of her in forms of strong winds and the whole area was engulfed into a blue and pink forcefield just like what happened to the baseball arena.

The Duke just crossed his arms. “Do you think that would work on me? I am not a shaman, you don’t have anything that you can cancel on me.”

The wind grew even stronger as Seulgi raised her head. Her eyes were all white because of the light they were emitting, her hair turned all grey with the same hue as Yujin’s lycan fur.

“Did you just ing kill my child and my bestfriend!?”

The Duke’s composure was broken after that change in Seulgi’s voice. It wasn’t only Seulgi that he heard, he also heard a familiar voice of someone he knew long ago.

“D-Don’t tell me—”

“S-Seulgi…” Irene groaned as she opened her eyes. She could strongly feel what her wife was going through. She could feel how much she was using power and how strong her desire for bloodlust. “Seulgi-ya…”

Seulgi’s fangs started protruding, her nails got longer. When the light from her eyes subsided, different colours were being emitted by her eyes–the right being blue while the left blood red, the same colour of Irene’s eyes.

“There will be…” Seulgi slowly levitated, electric bolts are being produced because of the strong wind. “There will be no ing mercy!”

SOOYOUNG’s father fell to his knees after watching how his daughter was mercilessly shot by the Duke. He started to hate himself again for being so powerless that he wasn’t able to do anything to help his daughter at all.

All the broadcast stopped as the drones were flown away by Seulgi’s overflowing power but they all know that the fight hasn’t ended yet.

“This can’t be… We can’t let Princess Seulgi lose the battle against Duke Matthew.” He said to his subordinates, forcing himself not to cry in front of them. “We can’t let a monster rule over us! We have to do something to help!”

The other zeroes looked at each other, exchanging worried looks. “But what should we do? W-We are only zeroes…”

Sooyoung’s father gritted his teeth. “But we are still shamans by blood. There must be something that we can do!”

The zeroes started thinking of a way to help but there wasn’t any idea that came to mind. Zeroes have never participated in any war. If they even do, they were offered as sacrifices.

A notification sound then echoed at the silent hall and one of the younger zeroes shouted.

“General Son Seungwan is having a broadcast! Please change the channel! It’s addressed to everyone including us!”

“KANG BAEKHO!!!”

Jaewook shouted after he managed to get back on his feet. Baekho is on a rampage and is emitting a bright ray of light that goes up to the sky of the void.

“Kang Baekho, you have to control yourself!” Angus shouted but it was no use. The guy couldn’t hear anything. After seeing how his child was slain and even had her heart eaten, Baekho once again lost all the sanity he had left.

With one loud shout, he started emitting the said light that’s now making a crack at the skies of the void.

“This is bad. If this continues he might take over Seulgi!” Jaewook clenched his fists. “We must do something, Angus!”

“I know!” The Vampire King answered. “I can’t believe I would be facing this guy again like this.”

The crack on the void is starting to get bigger. Baekho is very much ready to kill the Duke then wipe the world out after.

“I’ve warned you, Kang Seulgi! Why did you let my child die!? Why did you let my Blaez perish!? Everyone shall die! I’ll put an end to this cruel world!”

“Kang Baekho!” Jaewook tried to stop him by controlling his body but it was no use. He has the power to cancel powers anyway. “Damn it! Why am I this useless!?”

Angus then tries to fire blood bullets on Baekho but they aren’t going through at all. He turned to Jaewook while scratching his head. “We are both useless kings, Jaewook-ah…”

“I mean, he already defeated me while we were still alive… He-he…”
