Upon arriving back at her house, the supreme general took a quick shower and got change into her navy-blue colored dinner hanbok clothing, with a large logo of the golden Bae Kingdom's Royal Army symbol engraved near the chest area of her hanbok. After making sure that she was looking ready for the dinner, the general began to walk towards the castle’s main dining room. As she stepped foot inside the widely spaced room, she discovered that almost everyone had arrived, except for the royal siblings and Queen Bae Taeyeon. Upon her arrival, the council members and lieutenant generals stood and slightly bowed to acknowledge of her presence, as she was the supreme general of the army and the de facto leader of the council during the absence of the royalties. She, then, took a seat on the right side of the table, at the second chair from the head of the long table.

A few minutes later, the royal princess arrived at the dining room, prompting everyone to stand straight and bow to show their respect towards the royalty.

“Please just have a seat,” the royal princess said with a smile, allowing the council members and soldiers to return back to their position and resume their conversation.

The royal princess, then, sat down on the left side of the table, first chair from the head, and right beside the supreme general’s second-in-command, Lieutenant General Son.

The supreme general’s attention immediately returned back to the door as she heard the sound of it opening, only to find the crown princess beginning to make an entrance to the said room. Everyone, besides the royal princess, hastily stood up and bowed before the royalty to show their respect to the crown princess. The supreme general shot an intense glare towards the royal princess for her nonchalant behavior, causing the younger, although reluctant, to stand up for her sister’s arrival.

“Please have a seat. My mother will be here soon. She just has some business to attend to before coming here,” the crown princess said with a comforting smile, prompting the councils and generals to just sit back down and continue their conversations.

“Where were you two headed off the whole day? I can’t seem to find you two anywhere around castle grounds today,” the royal princess asked in a rather accusing tone towards the crown princess and the general, right after the crown princess had taken her seat beside the supreme general and across the royal princess.

“We went out for our usual walk, Jeong-ie. The ones we take after not meeting each other for months due to our seemingly endless amount of work,” the crown princess replied nonchalantly whilst putting an accented tone on the last word, causing the royal princess to just scoff and shrug her shoulders at her sister’s words.

“Your Highnesses, I don’t want to be the middle person in this bickering session of yours because I can assure you that this is not the right moment to have a fight,” the supreme general uttered in a semi-whisper as she realized where the conversation between the two siblings might be headed.

The two royalties just shot each other an intense glare until it was broken off by the sound of the door opening again. This time it was due to the entrance of Queen Bae in her grandest red-and-gold colored dinner hanbok clothing. Every individuals in said room stood up before her presence, followed by the action of the generals and council members to bow before the Queen whilst her two daughters just gave the Queen a comforting smile.

“Shall we begin, ladies and gentlemen?” the Queen rhetorically asked before making a gesture to allow her guests to return back to their seats.

Soon after, the dishes began to rally in and the people present inside the said room began eating their foods quietly, with only few conversations initiated between the Queen and her guests. After about half an hour, the tray of foods had finally cease to appear and it was time for the Queen to finally made her toast. The Queen’s and her guests’ cups were filled with the best alcohol in store at the castle grounds before the Queen willfully stood up and raised her cup.

She, then, spoke with great authority and domination, “Here is to being able to expand our kingdom’s territory and to the impeccably great work by General Kang Seulgi for leading the army to victory once again.”

The three royalties present at the dinner smiled proudly at the supreme general before drinking the whole cup, followed by the rest of the people mirroring the royalties' previous actions. After another moments of bustling conversations between the Queen and her dinner guests, each of the council members and the high-ranked soldiers began departing from the dining room one by one, leaving the Queen, her two daughters, and the supreme general all to themselves.

“I’m sorry that I forgot to tell you that there’s this dinner event tonight, Seulgi,” Queen Bae said with a motherly smile.

“It is alright, Your Majesty, although I would highly recommend you to not easily forget such important matters,” General Kang uttered teasingly at her ‘second mother’, a title that was given to her due to how well the Queen took care of the supreme general, especially after her mother passed away.

The two royal siblings laughed at the supreme general’s comment and continued to tease their mother for her forgetfulness.

“Hey, in my defense, I was too eager to kick Seulgi out of the throne room because I was afraid that you guys will complain to me and said that I kept her from meeting the both of you,” the Queen said in a faked annoyed tone in an attempt to cut her daughters’ teases short.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you said, Mother. I totally believe that excuse,” the royal princess uttered sarcastically, earning a nod of approval from her older sister sitting across her.

The two royal siblings began ganging up on their mother, prompting the Queen to mouth a ‘plead’ to the supreme general, “Help me here, Seulgi-ah. I’m trapped.”

The supreme general let out several giggles upon lip-reading the Queen’s words and said calmly to the two royalties, “Cut it please, Your Highnesses. I guess that is an enough amount of jokes that Her Majesty can take in one day. If I may suggest, why do not we return back to our chambers and have a break, considering how late the day has already been?”

The Queen hastily agreed upon the supreme general’s suggestion, but not the other two royalties, who were still seemingly eager to spend the day with the supreme general.

“Boo you, Seulgi unnie. Why do you have to be such a do

Chapter 20: Seulgi did the right thing by thinking further about her decision to help 2yeon. It was really inconsiderate of her to immediately think and decide to help without calling into mind Joohyun's reaction and side of things once word reaches her of the situation. They just got together recently and Seulgi's already out there giving more attention to someone else's relationship instead of her own with Joohyun. Their relationship is still a fledging and should be given more priority than anything else. Seulgi already thought of its importance when she further weighed her decision to help 2yeon. That alone should be enough for her to think fast and give the right amount and correct information regarding what happened when Yeri made a move towards her. Now isn't the time to be righteous and considerate or forgiving to others. Her relationship with Joohyun is more important just like she told Joy, so it should take precedence over potentially covering and protecting Yeri from Joohyun's ire. Seulgi already ed up a bit with her stunt of not considering Joohyun's feelings regarding 2yeon's matter, she should strive harder to be better, more anticipatory and careful of Joohyun's feelings, as well act more like a lover towards Joohyun and not as a general of the army. Get her priorities sorted. She already made Joohyun afraid for her well-being when she decided to help 2yeon and worried of her safety due to her recent sudden disappearance. She's got to put more effort in assuaging Joohyun's fears, calm her down from all of the recent happenings, and reassure Joohyun of her love towards her.
