Chapter 3

His Fallen Angel

Jinki was bored in his realm of angels and had been looking for a distraction for as long as he could remember. He just happened to come across someone named Jonghyun who used an Angel board to contact his guardian angel and couldn’t resist answering him. He really hated that stupid invention, as it took up a lot of his time spelling out what he wanted to, letter by letter. That Jonghyun probably thought he was some drooling chimp who couldn’t even form a proper sentence. All the questions he kept asking were so dumb. Of all the questions to ask, Jonghyun kept looking for some kind of confirmation that Jinki was an oracle. The only thing that intrigued Jinki even a little bit was when Jonghyun mentioned being recognized. It would be really interesting to see how this nerd stood up to his bullies and took revenge. The revenge train was surely something Jinki would board, and have an absolute blast just observing how the plan went through. Jinki had a lot of powers which he rarely used in the angel realm, so after the first time he interacted with Jonghyun, he entered his dream. Knowing that Jonghyun hadn't been sleeping well, Jinki used his powers to soothe Jonghyun into a sense of calmness by using Sakura blossoms. What no one knew, was the fact that Jinki couldn't be controlled by anything as simple as a board. Unbeknownst to Jonghyun, a link had already been created between them the minute Jinki answered the call. Jinki really wanted to move to the human realm and though he had a lot of powers, he had to be invited, similar to a vampire. Someone seemed to have warned Jonghyun about the dangers of communicating with an angel like him, as the boy withdrew the second Jinki asked to be invited. Jinki was able to see everything that was happening in Jonghyun's room and knew that he was trying to blow out the candle. There was no way Jinki would let him off the hook after he was asked to leave. How could he miss on such an opportunity like this one? Jinki focused his energy on the candle and kept igniting it each time Jonghyun attempted it blow it out. Now, this would teach him that Jinki meant business. Instantly contrite as Jonghyun asked for forgiveness, Jinki allowed his hold on the flame to relax and make Jonghyun feel safer. To show him that he meant no harm, Jinki sent forth a scent of Sakura flowers in bloom, which made Jonghyun instantly on edge as he remembered the dream he had. Before Jonghyun had an opportunity to end their conversation, Jinki once again demanded to be invited. The second Jonghyun refused, Jinki felt anger like never before and let his feelings be shown through the flame of the candle, which fell and started to burn the tablecloth. Grinning as he saw the fear in Jonghyun's face, Jinki braced himself for what he knew would follow next. The three words that would change everything, and just as he expected, came the words

"I..invite you"

Now that was a job well done. Jinki could now finally leave his realm and move to the alternate world where he could be seen by none except Jonghyun. It would do the boy good to think that the invitation was the end of everything. Jinki didn't reply after the invitation and after waiting a while, Jonghyun blew out the candle. Jinki allowed a bit of him to zip through the candle, which was the quickest way for him to enter the human realm. He couldn't afford to wait and figure out another way to enter. Coming out in Jonghyun's apartment, he chose to make himself invisible to Jonghyun and slowly enter his mind as he slept. Based on all of Jonghyun’s memories, Jinki was able to figure out how he could manipulate Jonghyun into doing exactly what he wanted. He had always wanted to enter the human realm. To Jinki, it was mysterious and he wanted to experience everything this world had to offer. For that, he needed Jonghyun's trust, which wouldn't be as hard as he had initially thought. All Jonghyun needed, was a slight push in the right direction. Judging by his vast memories, Jonghyun had never been in a fistfight or done anything illegal.

**************************************************************

Jonghyun awoke to find that nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. It was possible that he was mistaken, though, and so he walked cautiously into the room where he had contacted Jinki again. Looking at the spotless tablecloth with absolutely no scorch marks of being touched by the candle flame, Jonghyun wondered if the whole thing had been a dream or a figment of his imagination. It wasn't possible for a burn to not leave a mark at all. As per this, he definitely hadn't opened some sort of portal and invited a spirit into his world. Heaving a sigh of relief, Jonghyun picked up his bag and left for work. However, something felt slightly different than what he was accustomed to. On the train ride, he found his mind wandering further than it usually did. For some reason, Jonghyun kept thinking of those colleagues who made use of his abilities and basically bullied him into completing their projects and coding. What he really wanted to do, was punch them so they'd stop, but Jonghyun had never resorted to any sort of violence, be it physical or mental. Why did he keep imagining the crunching noise that he would hear if he broke someone's nose? It felt as though he had been infected with a virus that controlled him, just like in the movie he'd recently watched. Laughing to himself at the absurdity of that thought, Jonghyun left the train and walked to work.

"Hey nerd, finish this for me, will you?"

(Like I have nothing better to do)

Who said that? Was he going crazy or did Jonghyun really hear a different voice in his head?

"Yo, I'm talking to you"

(Stop looking at me, ugly)

"I...I'm sorry...I have to go"

Jonghyun raced towards the restroom and frantically splashed his face with cold water. Where the hell did that voice come from? Was he dreaming? After pinching himself hard, Jonghyun realized that this, in fact, was absolutely not a dream.

Chapter 4: Interesting. So Jinki didn't really leave... How much power he have on Jonghyun though? I'm so curious.
And I love the almost natural little hints of mutual care and trust that seem to build up between them, it has this kind of innocence to it.. ^//^
