Chapter 1

His Fallen Angel

As he passed by the voodoo shop for the hundredth time since childhood, Jonghyun found something that caught his eye. Moving closer to the glass windows, Jonghyun saw something that looked like the nicer cousin of an Ouija board. Disobeying the warnings his brain was shrieking, Jonghyun walked through the door and felt as if he had wandered off into a new place. A place filled with mystery and wonder that was yet unknown to him. One corner of the shop was filled with iridescent crystals that seemed to wink at him whenever he gazed upon them, the other, filled with roots and herbs. The various smells from the incense sticks used made him recollect the times he'd stood outside and just sniffed when he was a child. Filled with warmth, he lifted his hand to touch one of the crystals, which instantly changed its colour from navy blue to pearlescent sky blue. Extremely intrigued, Jonghyun silently walked around the shop, trying to find the one thing that had made him enter in the first place. Passing by a shelf full of voodoo dolls, each of them creeping him out with their black button eyes and bodies made out of hemp, he found something else that intrigued him. It seemed to be hidden under some books and was a sinister-looking box with alphabets on it. Not able to control his curiosity, Jonghyun picked it up and noticed two words ‘Yes’ and ‘No’. There were also numbers from 0-9 and the word “Goodbye”, along with a small heart-shaped piece of wood. Though this object looked bizarre, Jonghyun couldn’t help wanting to touch it. Yanking away his finger abruptly and on it, Jonghyun finally noticed the culprit that had done the damage. Some sort of nail was protruding from a corner of the board.

"Step away from it before even a drop of your blood touches the board"

Startled, Jonghyun jumped backwards, almost dropping the board in his haste. Turning around, he spotted the woman who owned the shop. “If the Ouija board tastes your blood then there’s a high chance of it trying to control you”. That didn’t sound like something Jonghyun wanted at the moment, although he had always been rather fascinated by the occult. Swiftly moving away from that shelf, his eyes fell on the object he had observed initially. It looked quite similar to the Ouija board he had just seen, not even a moment ago, but it had the image of an angel along with the alphabets and "Yes" and "No" on it. Quickly checking the box for instructions on what to do, Jonghyun noticed the description of this object that stated he could explore a more positive realm through Angels who would be able to guide him on any problems he was going through. Extremely intrigued, Jonghyun made the conscious decision to purchase this board and give it a try. Although the instructions stated that there would have to be a minimum of two individuals, he knew a way to bypass that. All he needed was another set of hands. There was nothing that stated that those hands should be human. Carefully carrying the board to the cashier, Jonghyun was met with more caution,

"I wouldn't play with the spirits if I were you"

"I'll be careful"

After all, this was just a game. What could it even do? Feeling quite certain that it may not even serve the purpose it claimed to, Jonghyun paid up and took his new Angel board home. Hiding it from public view in the crevice between his bed and the floor, he picked up his old magic 8 ball to see what it said. Shaking the ball to turn it on, Jonghyun brought it close to his lips and said,

"Should I try out the Angel board tonight?"

"Yes - Definitely"

"Will I meet an Angel?"

"I wouldn't count on it"

Well, it was surely worth a try, at least to find out if his so-called magic 8 ball actually worked. For someone who seemed as though he wouldn't be taken in by anything out of the ordinary, Jonghyun was quite naive and quite a fond target of a lot of frauds. Knowing that he was being made a fool of, most of the time,  Jonghyun still paid money at fairs to get his palm read and fortunes told. This was a secret of his, which could never come to the notice of anyone who knew him. Bullied as a child, fortunes had come to his rescue, promising a better future. It was just a habit of his which had stuck to him over the years, and what others didn't know surely wouldn't hurt him. As per the last tarot reading he'd had, something was going to happen to him, and soon. The only thing the tarot card reader wasn't able to tell him, was if the event was going to be good or bad. All she could see was that it would change his life. Being quite an optimist, Jonghyun had just assumed that it might be a promotion at work. Now that he thought back and considered that, Jonghyun realized that it was possible that the event could have something to do with this new Angel board he had purchased. Before starting the process, Jonghyun looked up what he may need on the internet and found that he was lacking a quartz crystal which was supposed to amplify the energy. Sighing, Jonghyun put his jacket back on and went back to the same shop to pick up this crystal. If only he had been smart enough to ask the store owner about what he needed, he wouldn't be in this kind of predicament now. Jonghyun returned home armed with some candles, a few quartz crystals, and even some aromatherapy oils. He'd been instructed not to call for anyone random, but instead, ask for his Guardian Angel or Spirit Guide. Jonghyun cleared out a room for this specific purpose and placed all the objects he'd need in various cupboards so that he could try his luck the following day, after work. Settling down in bed, Jonghyun took one last look at the board before shoving it back in the crevice and going to sleep.

Chapter 4: Interesting. So Jinki didn't really leave... How much power he have on Jonghyun though? I'm so curious.
And I love the almost natural little hints of mutual care and trust that seem to build up between them, it has this kind of innocence to it.. ^//^
