Why hold back the truth ?

What's Wrong With Secretary Myoui ?

"Okaa-san," Mina pouted.

She walked out the door of her house.

"Hi Mrs Moon."

There was a woman standing outside her house.

"Okaa-san ?"

Mina ran out to the front street.

"Okaa-san...! Wait, you are not..."

The woman walked over to Mina.

"Are you looking for your mum ?"

"Yes !"

"Do you want me to take you to your mum ?"

"Yes !" Mina nodded enthusiastically.

"Okay. Come with me."

Mina grabbed the woman's stretched out hand.

...

The house was dark. Broken windows, faulty lights.

The creaking of the door scared Mina.

"Will you really take me to see my mum if I sleep here for one night, auntie ?"

The lady did not answer.

She opened up the door to a room.

Another girl was already seated there.

"Auntie ! I want the same bracelets that she has on !" Mina smiled excitedly.

...

Jeongyeon looked at the clock in the hospital ward. 3am.

"Ms Myoui..."

Jeongyeon held onto Mina's hand tightly.

"Please wake up..."

A few hours felt like a few days since Mina had passed out.

She looked so beautiful lying there.

But I need her to wake up.

...

"I'm Kyung Yeon. Yoo Kyung Yeon."

"Seung Yeon ?"

"No, it's Kyung Yeon."

"Seung Yeon. I see, Seung Yeon !"

"You really are an idiot."

"I'm not an idiot. I'm only five years old, but I can read books better than my older sister Minyoung."

Kyung Yeon rolled her eyes.

"By the way, what's "dying" ? Daddy told me that mummy might die because she's sick. What will happen if she dies ?"

"I don't know either."

"Are you an idiot ?"

"What ?"

"My sister Minyeon told me that "dying" means that I won't be able to see mummy anymore. You're nine years old, and yet you don't know that ? You really are an idiot~"

"Who are you calling an idiot ? It's obvious that you won't be able to see her again if she dies."

A tear rolled down Mina's cheek.

"Does that mean I won't be able to see mummy anymore, too ?"

"N- No wait. That's not it-"

Mina started to cry loudly.

"Hush, Mina, hush-"

The clack of heels against the stone flooring startled Kyung Yeon.

Mina stopped crying.

"You need to be quiet. Your dad will be here soon, after all."

"I- I'm sorry. W- We'll be quiet," Kyung Yeon said.

"Dad ? My dad is at the hospital right now, though..." Mina said softly.

Kyung Yeon put a hand over her Mina's mouth.

"Your dad went to the office ! He'll be here soon. So you have to wait here quietly with mummy."

"My mum is also at the hospital-"

"Be quiet, Mina !"

"WHY DO YOU KEEP SPOUTING NONSENSE ?!"

Kyung Yeon shuddered.

"I- I think it's because she's not fully awake yet, Mum. I'll calm her down. W- We'll stay quiet."

The lady walked away.

Kyung Yeon breathed a sigh of relief.

"Auntie is acting weird. I want to go home !"

"Stop crying, Mina. If you stop crying, I'll give you something yummy."

"Something yummy ?"

"Yes. It's a caramel sweet. If you eat this, you promise not to cry ?"

Mina nodded.

She put the candy in and chewed.

"Is it nice ?"

Mina nodded.

"Enjoy it," Kyung Yeon smiled.

She felt something, no, someone staring at her.

She looked outside the door, and stared into the eyes of the woman.

She gasped.

At the scissors the woman was holding.

...

It was late.

The moon shone brightly in the sky.

Kyung Yeon slept, her back against the wall. Mina lay on her legs.

The clack of heels came again as she woman walked into the room, rope in her hands.

She knelt down infront of Kyung Yeon.

She opened her eyes.

"Oh, lady- Mum."

The lady put a finger to her own lips.

"Shh... Your younger sister is sleeping. You have to be quiet."

"Yes, mum. I'll stay quiet like this until dad gets here."

"No, dad isn't coming..."

The lady's smile turned.

"because i'm not your mum..."

Kyung Yeon gulped.

"I gave me all to that man. But he didn't feel the same way," the lady chuckled. "I even killed the baby inside of my womb for that man... I'm sure that man is probably sleeping soundly with two daughters like you two... Why am I the only one suffering like this ? WHY ?!"

Kyung Yeon shuddered.

"My only crime was loving that man."

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"If I die... will he feel even a little bit of guilt, I wonder ?"

She looked at Kyung Yeon.

"Let's go together."

Kyung Yeon's heart started racing.

"I don't want to go alone. You two are coming with me-"

"Then you can just forget about that cowardly and wicked man and just start over now ! Stop this now, please. Please let us go. I definitely won't report you. Please ?"

The lady retracted the rope she already had on Mina. Mina was still sleeping.

"It's too late. I've already went too far."

She sighed.

"Thank you for comforting me, child," The lady said, running a hair through Kyung Yeon's hair.

Tears rolled down Kyung Yeon's cheek.

The lady walked out of the room, to the next.

Kyung Yeon could still see her as she took off her heels, and stood up on a chair.

"Y- You can't. You can't, lady ! Please don't do this ! Please... don't..."

"Looks like i'll have to leave without returning the favor to you."

"STOP IT !"

"Sorry, child."

"SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP !"

"In exchange, please watch my dying moments."

"NO !!!"

All Kyung Yeon heard was a thud as the chair hit the ground, and the creak of the rope as it swayed.

But it all was overshadowed by what she saw.

Kyung Yeon cried.

"I have to close the door."

Kyung Yeon sniffled.

"For Mina."

She crawled towards the door, shuffling herself towards it.

"What are you doing over there ?" Mina asked.

, she woke up.

"Stay right there, Mina. D- Don't come here."

Mina saw the body.

"Oh...? What is that ? Auntie ? Auntie looks weird. I'm scared."

I can't let this be Mina's introduction to the concept of death, when her mother may die.

"No, Mina. That's not auntie. I- It's a spider. A huge spider."

Mina began to cry.

"That spider is scary..."

Kyung Yeon closed the door.

...

"It's okay Mina. The spider can't come in here anymore."

"My feet hurt so much..."

"It's alright. I'll go get some scissors from outside. And i'll untie you."

Kyung Yeon gave Mina a reassuring smile.

...

She was already halfway out the door.

She crawled towards the dangling body.

She's here... That dead woman... is right on top of me

Kyung Yeon looked up.

And shuddered.

"Mina. Mina you're right there, right ?"

"Why are you crying ? You haven't been bitten by the spider, right ? Oh no !"

"I'm fine..."

I have to get that scissors. And untie Mina.

"The one here with me is Mina. It's not that woman. It's Mina. Mina is with me."

She grabbed the scissors.

And made her way back.

...

"Mina, listen carefully."

The cut cable ties lay on the floor.

Mina nodded.

"In Africa, there's a spider that is as big as a human adult. And it's really dangerous. If you meet it's gaze, it'll bite you."

"Really ?"

"Yes. And I think there's that spider outside. Make sure you close your eyes in order not to see it. Okay ?"

Mina nodded. "Okay."

"Now let's go home. Hold my hand tightly and follow me."

The two children stood up.

Mina grabbed Kyung Yeon's hand.

She put her other hand over her eyes.

They made their way past the body and pushed the door open.

The light hit them. It was morning.

They made their way down the stairs, pushed the gate open.

...

"This is my house."

"It's really nearby. In the futre, don't come out by yourself. Okay ?"

"Okay."

Mina smiled.

"Byt the way, you know what ? I'm going to marry you."

"M- Marry ?"

"Yes, you're like a superhero. My superhero."

"Are you rich too ?"

"Rich ?"

"Yes. My daddy told me to marry a rich man for certain."

"Well... my dad is rich. So I suppose i'm rich too."

"How rich are you ? Can you buy a Nana doll ?"

"Nana doll ? Division Company manufactures them. That company is our company's subcontractor."

"Sub...contractor ? What is that ? Is it a food ?"

Kyung Yeon chuckled.

"All the manufacturing companies of Nana Doll are ours."

"Promise me already that you'll marry me."

"No."

"Come on."

"You marry someone you love when you grow up."

"Then you can love me when you grow up !"

"Alright, alright. I'll marry you."

"Hehe promise me~"

"Alright. I'll come back to visit you soon."

Their fingers interlocked.

A promise was made.

...

"That's how we were able to come back safely."

But...

...

Kyung Yeon felt a chill down her spine as she walked along the streets, trying to find her way around.

She turned around.

And saw the lady.

She gasped as her legs began to carry her as fast as they could.

She kept lookibg ack.

Sweat folled down her forehead.

And finally, there it was.

A police station.

I'm... safe...

She hit the ground.

...

And woke up in a hospital bed.

"Kyung Yeon ah."

"Kyung Yeon."

"Kyung Yeon, are you okay ?" Mrs Yoo said, her voice shaking.

The red heels.

The chair hitting the floor.

The body dangling infront of her.

Kyung Yeon screamed, struggling as Mrs Yoo hugged her tightly.

"PLEASE CALL THE DOCTOR !" Mr Yoo called, running out of the ward.

Kyung Yeon cried.

Kyung Yeon screamed.

...

"I couldn't live on as if nothing happened."

"Whenever I struggled, I wondered how you were doing."

"Ever since then, it was hard for me to face young women who were like that kidnapper."

"I suffered from the trauma when I saw cable ties. But it was bearable."

"But from time to time, I wondered how you were doing."

"But then one day, I came across you again like it was a dream."

"What's your name ?"

"Myoui Mina."

"Myoui Mina-ssi. Do you know who I am ?"

"Yes. You are the Chairman's daughter."

"Yes... Yes I am."

"I felt kind of upset, but it was more of a blessing, because it was better for me to take the burden of that day alone forever."

"Hello, Ms Yoo. I'm Myoui Mina, your secretary as of today. I'll work hard. I hope we get along !"

"What was I thinking ?"

"Wanting... to keep you by my side... forever."

Mina looked around the office. There was no one around.

The phone kept ringing.

Mina picked it up.

"Hello, this is the General Affairs team of Yoo Group-"

"Hello, this is Arthur from Ford Motor Company. I'm calling to check a few things."

"I'm really sorry. Can you speak in Korean or Japanese ?"

"What is it ?"

"Oh, there was no one here, so I picked up the phone, and he's English. I can't speak in English," Mina said to her colleague.

"Give me that."

Mina passed the phone over.

"Hello ? Yes, the person in charge isn't in the office at the moment. Okay, understood. Sorry for the incovenience."

Mina stared uncomfortably.

The colleague put down the phone.

"Thank you," Mina bowed.

"You're the CFO's secretary. Why aren't you capable of this much ?" The colleague rolled her eyes. "Is it because she didn't go to college ?" She muttered, walking away.

Mina pouted.

...

Jeongyeon stared at the sunset.

She sighed.

"Onee-san ?"

"Me ? I'm doing great."

"By the way, onee-san, there are so many smart people here. We have a lot of business to deal with foreign buyers."

Jeongyeon stared.

"But i'm the only one who can't understand every time."

She sniffled.

"No, i'm fine. You know i'm good at adapting."

Jeongyeon thought about it.

"Oh, I have to go now. Talk to you another time. Bye."

Mina wiped her tears.

...

Jeongyeon walked past Mina's table, dropping a book on it.

Mina stood up.

"Master 30 pages of this book a day. I'll check if you've done it myself every day."

"You'll check every day ?"

Jeongyeon walked away.

Mina looked at the book.

(Learning English in one step)

...

Jeongyeon looked out the window.

""How is the weather today ?" She asked Mina in perfect English.

"Today's weather is..." Mina stopped.

Jeongyeon raised an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry," Mina bowed.

...

Jeongyeon flipped through the book. She slammed it shut.

"Can you tell me about your future ambition ?" Jeongyeon asked Mina, in perfect English yet again.

"I want to... assist the CFO... without making any mistakes..." Mina smiled nervously.

Jeongyeon raised an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry-"

"I'm sorry" Is that all you know ?" Jeongyeon questioned Mina.  "Memorize, then remember. Why can't you do it  ?"

Mina felt defeated.

Jeongyeon grabbed a post-it-pad, tore a paper off and scribbled some words on it. She pasted it on the book and handed it back to Mina.

Mina returned to her desk, book in hand.

She sat down. She sighed and caught a glimpse of the words on the post-it-pad. Her eyes widened.

"It's your homework to put your life on the line in memorizing it."

She pouted and frowned.

She picked up a pen from her desk and wrote some words on the post-it-pad.

"I'll master English for certain and escape from this humiliation," she said to herself.

She slammed the pen down on her dsk.

"CFO Yoo is a jerk."

...

Jeongyeon folded her arms across her chest.

"What's the schedule for today ?" She asked Mina, again in perfect English.

"You have the directors' meeting in the morning and the Businessmen's Forum in the afternoon," Mina replied in perfect English, b with confidence.

Jeongyeon smiled.

Mina smiled.

Jeongyeon pulled out a bag from underneath her desk and placed it infront of her. "It's a gift for you," she said to Mina.

"A gift ?" Mina repeated, her face brightening up.

"I'm giving you this because you improved a lot in such a short time. Your hard work always brings outcomes."

Mina grinned.

"You're the first employee who got a gift from me. Keep that honoured heart for a long time," Jeongyeon stated.

"Yes, Ms Yoo !" Mina grinned, pulling out the contents from the bag.

Her smiled drooped.

(Learning Chinese in One Step)

She looked at Jeongyeon.

"You can do a good job," Jeongyeon nodded.

Mina frowned.

...

Jeongyeon stared out the window and back at her desktop clock. 11pm.

She pressed a button on the pager on her desk.

"Ms Myoui."

There was no response.

"Ms Myoui," she called again.

No response again.

She frowned, and got up out of her seat.

"Ms Myoui-" Jeongyeon stopped as she looked around the office, not a single soul to be seen.

"Everyone must have clocked out," Jeongyeon said to herself.

She found Mina in her cubicle, her head sprawled on her desk, in deep sleep. She was laying on some papers.

Jeongyeon chuckled.

She knocked on the walls of Mina's cubicle, which woke her up. Mina's eyes widened as she saw Jeongyeon towering over her.

"I'm sorry, Ms Yoo," Mina said, standing up.

"You stayed up for three days, so you must be tired," Jeongyeon pointed out. "You may leave work."

"No, I have to organize data and send it by tomorrow," Mina stated.

"That schedule... got delayed."

"What ? Delayed ? I haven't heard of it..."

"I just got the message. Leave work then," Jeongyeon urged.

She walked off.

Mina grinned as she gathered her things.

Jeongyeon watched as Mina left the office. The lights turned off outside.

She fished out her phone from her pocket.

"Hello, Ms Im. About the department store purchase project... can you delay the schedule ?"

She nodded and hung up.

...

Jeongyeon sat with her arms folded across her chest.

On her desk was a small paper bag.

Mina smiled. "It's my gift to congratulate your promotion. Go ahead and open it, CFO- I mean, President Yoo," she grinned.

Jeongyeon chuckled.

She reached into the bag, pulling out the small paper box.

She lifted the lid.

It was a small keychain in it, one made out of wool, woven together with string. There were hand written words on it.

(President Yoo Jeongyeon)

Jeongyeon looked at Mina.

"You don't seem to need anything. Even if you needed something, it would probably be something expensive."

Mina placed both hands over her heart.

"So I made this to express my sincerity."

Jeongyeon put the lid back on.

"It's not really my style."

Mina's smile faultered. "Then give it back to me-"

"But i'm the person who takes importance on progress. I'll gladly accept it for your sincerity."

Mina smiled. "Thank you."

"Well then, please excuse me," Mina announced, leaving Jeongyeon's office.

Jeongyeon waited for Mina to walk out.

She lifted the lid again and picked up the keychain.

She grinned.

"I'll use this for a week for her sincerity," she said to herself.

...

"Wow, thank you ! I've never received such a pretty cake before," Mina stated, holding a bright blue cake in her hands.

"It's nothing special. Of course, I had a famous patissier bake it, but it's not that expensive," Jeongyeon shrugged.

"Can I take a picture with this ?" Mina asked excitedly.

"Of course."

Mina squealed with delight.

As she turned around to grab her phone, the cake slipped out of her hands.

They stared in shock and horror.

Jeongyeon smiled nervously.

"You dropped it."

Mina lifted up the cake, seeing the damage.

"I'm sorry, Ms Yoo."

"It's not a big deal,"

Mina pouted, her eyes wet.

"so don't give me that look on your birthday."

Mina pouted.

Jeongyeon's smile turned into a laugh.

Mina began to laugh too.

"You dropped it in a pretty way."

"I thought... we would always be together like that."

"I think you should hire a new secretary."

"I'm going to resign now."

"Then I realized it for the first time..."

"That I would never be able to let you go."

"You were the one I needed from the start."

[Present]

"So... wake up already, Mina."

Jeongyeon held her hand tightly.

She heard the door open.

...

Jeongyeon pushed Seung Yeon against the wall.

"What did you tell her ? What did you say that made her collapse all of a sudden ?!"

Seung Yeon was silent.

Her grip tightened on her older sister's shirt.

"Did you tell her about that story again ? Until when will you torment people around with that ?!"

"It wasn't me who was trapped in there."

"What ?!"

"It was you, right ?"

"What..."

"You remember everything from that day, don't you ?"

Jeongyeon loosened her grip.

"I guess i'm right."

Jeongyeon was flustered.

"Right, I felt strange all along because I couldn't understand. Looking at me in so much pain, you didn't feel guilty at all. It was because..."

Seung Yeon looked at her younger sister.

"you were the one who was kidnapped, not me."

Jeongyeon gulped.

...

Jeongyeon walked back inside the room. It had been around thirty minutes after Seung Yeon left.

She looked at the girl seated up on the bed.

Mina.

"You're up !"

Jeongyeon rushed to her side.

"How do you feel ?"

Mina remained silent.

"I'll bring you something to drink," Jeongyeon said, walking over to the fridge. "I should hand more of your work over to Yerim. You're overworked."

"You..."

Jeongyeon paused.

"didn't lose your memory, did you ?"

Jeongyeon sighed.

"You're just acting like you did, aren't you ?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Mina felt a tear roll down her cheek.

"Kyung Yeon."

It was inevitable.

"I remember it all now."

But I just wanted to...

"What happened that day... and that woman too."

keep it from you...

"Now, I know... why I wanted to find you so much."

for as long as possible.

"I wanted to thank you. You must've been scared and terrified that day as well. So I wanted to thank you for protecting me despite the fear."

Mina sobbed.

Jeongyeon felt a tear roll down her cheek.

"Who else would've been able to protect you otherwise ?"

Mina wiped her tears.

"It was because I was Yoo Jeongyeon."

She turned to face Mina.

"I wanted to hide it until the end, but I guess I failed."

Mina continued to cry.

Jeongyeon sat down on her bed.

"Don't cry. You need to rest."

"How can I rest right now ? How could you do that ? Why did you keep it a secret for such a long time ?"

Jeongyeon sighed.

"I couldn't get it out of my head even for a day. What happened back then, what I saw, and even what I heard. Everytime I closed my eyes, the memories came flooding back so vividly as if it was yesterday. Those horrible memories. That's why I was so relieved that you didn't remember it."

"Nothing can stay a secret forever."

"I know. But I wanted you to find out as late as possible. I just didn't want to share that pain."

She sighed.

"It would've been better if you had never remembered it."

"Don't say that. If I felt the same pain, and experienced what you went through, I wouldn't be feeling this bad."

Mina wiped away her tears.

"You seem so considerate of me now, but it does not suit you at all. You should've just been selfish and self centered like you usually are."

Jeongyeon smiled.

"Are you trying to criticize me or compliment me ? Make up your mind."

Mina huffed.

"Promise me... that you'll never hide anything from me from now on," Mina pleaded.

Jeongyeon held Mina's hands in hers.

"Okay. I promise."

Mina sniffled.

"I'll stay by your side tonight. Just like that day."

Mina smiled.

...

"Ma'am I think you should go check on her."

Mrs Yoo put down her cup.

She sighed.

"Thank you, Jung In."

The servant bowed and walked off.

Mrs Yoo got up out of her seat and made her way to Seung Yeon's room.

The door was open.

She took a deep breath and walked inside.

The floor was strewn with books, pencils and pens. Her bed was a mess, two pillows thrown onto the floor.

Seung Yeon sat on the edge of her bed, her head in her hands.

"Seung Yeon ah."

Seung Yeon sobbed.

"Why did you tell me the truth ?"

She wiped away her ters.

"Why tell me the truth now after all these years ?"

"Seung Yeon ah."

She stood up.

"It may have been my fault back then, but not anymore. Why... Why didn't you tell me sooner that my memories were wrong ?"

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."

"I must have looked like such a big joke to her. I must have looked so pathetic to Jeongyeon !"

Mrs Yoo shook her head.

"That's not true, Seung Yeon. She doesn't know yet because she lost all of her memories from that time-"

"No, she didn't !"

Mrs Yoo's mouth twitched.

"W- What do you mean ?"

Her voice was soft.

"She remembers everything."

"What ?"

Seung Yeon stormed out of the room.

Mrs Yoo knelt down on the floor as the tears started to come.

Why ?

...

"Both her blood pressure and pulse are normal. It was temeporary anemia, so you don't have to worry too much."

"Alright. Thank you for everything, doctor," Jeongyeon said, bowing to the three doctors standing before her.

The doctors bowed back, hesitantly.

Jeongyeon turned to walk back inside Mina's room when she noticed a little kid holding a doll in her hands. A nurse was playing with her.

She had an idea.

...

Mina stood up as soon as she saw Jeongyeon walk through the door to her room. She was holding something behind her.

"Didn't you step out to talk to the doctor ? What took you so long ?" Mina asked.

"An important guest stopped by, so I brought her here," Jeongyeon replied.

"A guest ?"

"It's a lady who time traveled to the present, 2019, from 1994."

"What ?"

"You'll probably recognize her right away because she hasn't changed one bit."

Jeongyeon placed the bag on the table.

(Na Na's Sweet Home)

"Wow, this is Na Na's Sweet Home !" Mina exclaimed.

Jeongyeon chuckled.

Mina brought out the big box from the bag and marvelled at the sight of it.

"The manufacturer went under shortly after the incident, so I was only able to find one. And i've kept it until now just in case."

Mina smiled.

"So... this makes me good enough to be wife material, right ?" Jeongyeon asked.

Mina looked up from the toy to Jeongyeon.

"W- Wife material ? What do you mean ?"

Jeongyeon's eyes widened. She folded her hands across her chest.

"Don't you remember ?"

Mina shook her head. "Remember what ?"

Jeongyeon sighed. "You asked me if I could afford to buy you Na Na's Sweet Home. You asked me if I was rich and said that I should marry you, which got me totally flustered."

"I did ?"

Jeongyeon's mouth was hanging open in a comical 'o' shape, her eyes bulging.

"I don't remember," Mina smiled nervously.

Jeongyeon shrugged. "That's okay. I understand. My parents panicked when I, a nine year old girl, asked them to buy me Na Na's Sweet Home. They asked me if the trauma was regressing me back to infancy or that if I was going through my teenage phase of rebelling. And did I mention that at that age I was already reading books made by the likes of Confucius and had no time for toys ? I worried my parents a lot just to get my hands on that doll, but it's okay. Whether you remember saying that or not, it's my gift to you," she pouted.

Mina grinned.

"Thank you~"

Jeongyeon couldn't help it and broke into a smile.

"I wanted this so much when I was a kid. Back then, I thought her face was very pretty, and her dress with this huge bow looked so gorgeous too," Mina said, pointing to the huge pink bow on the doll's waist.

"Do you think it looks dowdy now ?" Jeongyeon asked.

Mina smiled cheekily. "A little."

She put down the box.

"Did you know, Ms Yoo ?"

Jeongyeon raised an eyebrow.

"Most dog chews are made from cow leather."

"Really ?"

"If you bury dog chews in the ground, they'll decay and completely disappear. I think that Big Bang's chews must have completely disappeared by now."

Jeongyeon nodded.

"And just like Big Bang's chews, memories can completely disappear too. Shall we bury all the bad memories deep in the ground together ?"

Jeongyeon smiled.

As Mina turned around to look at the dool again, Jeongyeon walked up behind her. She put her arms around her waist, resting her head on the Japanese girl's shoulders.

"I'm happy that you're the girl that I was looking for."

Jeongyeon chuckled.

"I'm also happy... that we met again like this."

Mina grinned.

"By the way it's Big Bang Andromeda Supernova Sonic."

Mina laughed.

...

"I said i'm fine ! I'm totally fine !"

"Still, you have to do it no matter what."

Mina sighed. "Who gets an in depth examination for fainting for a short while ?"

"But you did faint, which means you're not healthy. So just listen to me," Jeongyeon pointed out.

"I can't do that. I have to go to work."

"Just take a day off."

"No, I can't. I have a lot to do today."

Jeongyeon huffed. "You're incredibly responsible and passionate about work, and i've highly valued that aspect of you for the past nine years."

She placed both of her hands on each of Mina's shoulders.

"But I won't allow that anymore because you're my woman now."

Mina blushed.

"This is good. Your face has gone red now and you obviously can't work like this, so you'll have to take a day off."

"What ?"

"I'll come back right after the meeting. Call me if anything happens. You can call me even if nothing happens." Jeongyeon smiled, planting a kiss on Mina's forehead.

She walked off.

Mina huffed.

...

"Yoo's Department store's Donseong-ro location in Daegu, which will open next week-"

"Then plan for the grand opening event looks great. Also, we're introducing a brand that has no stores in Korea yet, so it will generate a lot of buzz. We should also use the fact that it'll have the biggest kids' cafein Daegu to market the department store," Jeongyeon said, scrolling down on her tablet.

Nayeon adjusted her tie.

The directors looked at Jeongyeon nervously.

"I think the grand opening will be very successful."

The directors looked back at Nayeon.

"Yes, I think so too, but-"

"Then let's wrap up the meeting."

Jeongyeon left, even before the directors got a chance to bow.

"The meeting is already over ?" Yuna asked.

"I thought it would rag on because she usually nitpicks over everything," Wonpil pointed out.

"What's going on with her ?" Changbin questioned.

Nayeon grabbed her things, scurrying out of the room.

...

"Hey, are you in a rush or something ?" Nayeon asked, struggling to keep up with Jeongyeon as the latter practically brisked walked down the corridor.

"What ? No."

"Why did you end it so quickly then ?"

Nayeon grabbed Jeongyeon's arm.

"You did it because of me right ? Because you knew I was upset."

Nayeon turned towards a wall, her back facing Jeongyeon.

Jeongyeon rolled her eyes.

"I acted like I was fine, but I guess you could tell."

Jeongyeon walked off.

"Frankly, I've been having a hard time. That sight of my ex-wife walking with her boyfriend keeps... But i'm going to move on. I must pull myself together. Jeongyeon ah, you're the only person that cares about me-"

Nayeon realized Jeongyeon was gone.

"She's gone ?"

...

Jeongyeon walked towards her office.

"Ms Kim Yerim, I'm leaving for the day, so please cancel everything-"

Mina smiled at Jeongyeon.

Jeongyeon blinked. She rubbed her eyes. "What is going on here ? I can't be seeing things because I miss you too much."

Mina grinned.

"I told you to just take a day off."

"And I told you that I am feeling fine. Taking a day off for a in depth examination when i'm really fine is considered special treatment."

"And what's wrong with it ? Why do you hate it so much ? Did you family go bankrupt because of special treatment or what ?" Jeongyeon asked.

"My family was never even well-off enough to go bankrupt," Mina replied, a big smile on her face.

"Don't smile. You're getting on my nerves today," Jeongyeon pouted, walking into her office.

Mina smiled.

Yerim approached Mina from the pantry, staring at the door that Jeongyeon had slammed shut. "What happened ? Is Ms Yoo unhappy about something ?" She asked, sitting down next to Mina.

"No, don't mind her," Mina replied, smiling.

"I guess even you don't know what ticked her off," Yerim muttered to herself. She turned to Mina. "You see, Ms Yoo is overly sensitive."

Mina raised an eyebrow.

"We say that she's a perfectionist because she's our boss, but I would hate to date someone like her. Is that why she's single ?"

"What ?"

Yerim giggled. "I heard that she's never been in a real relationship. No wonder. Who would put up with her personality ? She's so sensitive and bossy. I don't like people who are show-offs-"

Mina stared daggers at Yerim.

"W- What's wrong, Ms Myoui ?"

"Oh, nothing. I was just wondering if you have finished the weekly report," Mina claimed.

"Oh... no I haven't."

"What about the schedule and the plan for the second half of the year ?"

"I'll take care of it right away-"

"Good. Finish them quickly. I also don't like people who are show-offs, but I equally dislike people who slack off," Mina said with a smile.

Yerim nodded.

...

"Worrying about her might actually kill me if she faints again."

Jeongyeon sighed

"If I die, it'll be too big of a loss to Korea as well as to the world."

Jeongyeon got a shock as she saw Mina, who was just stretching at ther desk.

"Gosh, look at her. She's obviously exhausted."

She brought a hand up to her head.

"My brain, which is as y as my body, are you listening ? Good, it is. I know you already work three times harder than others do, but can you bring your A game and try to come up with a good idea for Ms Myoui to rest ?"

Jeongyeon focused.

She had an idea.

...

Momo sat at her desk, a manga in her hand and a potato chip in the other. The potato chips that were already in made a loud crunching sound.

"Is it good ?"

She recognised that voice.

She put away her manga and stashed away the bag of potato chips in her drawer.

"Ms Im. Is the meeting with the executives already finished ?"

"That's obviously why i'm back."

Momo giggled.

"Oh yes, can you heat up the herbal medicine I brought this morning ?"

"Sure. I'll heat it up for exactly 2 minutes and 30 seconds."

"Thank you. Oh, right. It's very good for boosting energy and... I mean, it's very expensive, so be careful not to waste even a drop."

Momo smiled and nodded.

...

"My gosh, is it because this medicine is expensive ?"

Nayeon rotated her shoulders.

"I can already feel it."

She patted her chest.

"Cheer up, Im Nayeon... I'll forget everything and start afresh."

Momo burst into the room.

"What should I do, Ms Im ?"

"Why ? What happened ? What trouble did you cause this time ?"

"Well... I drank your medicine."

"What ?!"

Nayeon looked at the drink packet she was holding.

"Then what's this ?"

"That's my herbal medicine for weight loss."

Nayeon's eyes widened. "Weight loss aid and appetite suppressant ?" She crushed the packet.  "I wonder if there's any herbal medicine that reduces annoyance and suppresses anger."

"I don't think there is."

"Oh really ? Well at the moment, i'm in desperate need of such herbal medicine."

Momo got a notification on her phone.

(Ms Im's acquaintance, Lee Ji-eun's birthday)

"Ms Im, i'm sorry, but who's Lee Ji-eun ? The name sounds familiar." Momo asked.

Nayeon leaned back in her chair.

"Well, why do you ask ?"

"A reminder popped up aboutt hat person's birthday, which is today. It says that person is your acquaintance," Momo pointed out.

Nayeon sighed.

"I should send flowers, right ?" Momo asked.

"You don't need to send anything."

"Really ? I put it on the calender though, so it must be someone important..."

Nayeon looked down.

"She was... an important person to me. My ex-wife."

"Oh... I'm sorry, Ms Im," Momo bowed.

"Aish, don't be. Don't worry about it."

"If you still have feelings for her, you should send flowers-"

"What are you talking about ?" Nayeon laughed. "You saw it too. She has a boyfriend now. I'm sure he'll do something special for her birthday."

Momo frowned.

"You should get back to work," Nayeon urged.

Momo bowed and turned around, walking out of the room.

I want her to be happy though...

...

"The spa ? At the hotel ?"

"Yes. Go to the spa now with everyone on the team and enjoy the services."

"Yes, I will," Jihyo nodded. "Oh, but we're supposed to be working right now."

"It is part of your work. I need your feedback on the spa at Illusion Hotel. Please experience the services and give me your honest feedback."

"Alright. No problem, Ms Yoo. Then i'll take everyone on the team, except for Ms Myoui, who should be at your aid," Jihyo stated.

"Didn't I just say everyone from the Office of Vice Chairperson ? That includes Ms Myoui," Jeongyeon pointed out.

"Okay. I got it, Ms Yoo. Then we will leave right away with everyone, including Ms Myoui," Jihyo announced.

Jeongyeon nodded.

Jihyo bowed and walked out of the room.

Jeongyeon smirked.

...

"You are done with the whole body circulation care. We will now prepare the gypsum pack."

The masseuse left.

Mina, Yerim and Sana were in the same room.

"It's my first time to come to a hotel spa. Our skin is going to become so nice," Yerim stated.

"My skin is already like honey, so I don't need it to be better. When my date looks at me, his eyes are going to be as sweet as honey," Sana squealed.

"Your date ? Are you seeing someone, Satang ?" Mina asked.

"Yes. She's my superhero who always rescues me whenever I am in trouble," Sana pointed out.

"By the way, I don't really like it when someone helps me because it feels like that person is treating me like a child," Yerim said. Sana frowned.

"Wat's your type, Ms Myoui ?" Yerim asked.

Mina blushed. "Well... I like someone who is very considerate and warm."

"Oh... so like Ms Yoo's mirror image. Definitely not someone like Ms Yoo," Yerim said. Sana and Yerim giggled.

"Why ? Ms Yoo is considerate and warm too," Mina claimed.

"Warm ?" Sana repeated.

Mina got a text.

"Excuse me," she said to the other two girls.

She looked at her phone screen.

Ms Yoo 12:54pm: Ms Myoui, are you having a good time ?

Mina smiled.

Ms Myoui 12:55pm: Yes I am, thanks to you. I will check thoroughly so we can give a thorough feedback.

Jeongyeon smiled.

Ms Yoo 12:55pm: Don't check thoroughly. Just leave it and take some rest.

Ms Yoo 12:56pm: I sent you there so that you can have a good rest.

Ms Yoo 12:56pm: It's a privilege to let you rest alone, but this benefits my entire staff

Mina grinned.

Ms Myoui 12:57pm: Thank you ♡

Jeongyeon blushed.

Ms Yoo 12:57pm: I'm a person of great scale. So i'm sending you two hearts ♡♡

Mina blushed.

Yerim and Sana watched as Mina had a smile off with her phone.

"Minari, who are you texting ?" Sana asked.

"Ah- It's no one."

"What do you mean nobody ? I saw your eyes," Yerim turned over to Sana. "It looked like it was Ms Yoo."

"Oh my. Is she making you work again ? That's so like her," Sana frowned.

"You see ? You said she's considerate and warm, but she's not," Yerim pointed out.

Mina frowned.

...

Nayeon giggled to herself as she cut a piece of steak, putting it in .

"Oh, this is so good. Steak is really good even when you are eating it alone," she stated.

The empty seat she had infront of her on the other side of the table was not empty anymore.

Her face was welcomed with a smile.

A beautiful smile.

Nayeon held up a plate. On it were a stack of steaks, with a singular candle sticking out of the piece on top.

"What is this ?"

"Well, you like their steaks. So you always come here on our annivesaries and birthdays. I made you a steak cake so that you can eat as much as you want," Nayeon giggled.

"No way."

"Come on now. Make a wish and blow out the candles."

Nayeon smiled as she watched the flame on the candle go out.

She sighed.

She put down her fork and knife.

"Is it because I took the appetite suppressant Ms Hirai gave me ? I don't have any appetite right now."

She chuckled.

"Why did I come here alone like a loner. I'm so pathetic."

Nayeon got up to leave.

There she was.

Standing right infront of her.

Just as beautiful as she remembered.

"Nayeon-ssi."

"Ji-eun. What a coincidence."

Nayeon laughed nervously.

"I actually thought I would be able to see you when I come here-"

A man walked up to them.

Nayeon looked at the man. She sighed.

"You are a very cruel woman."

"W- What ?"

"Well, I understand that you are dating another person now that we've split up. But a man ? Really ?"

Ji-eun stood there silently.

"And you can't bring him here. We used to come here together every year. Isn't it a rude thing to do to me and also to your new boyfriend ?!"

Ji-eun chuckled.

"He's not my boyfriend."

"Then who is he ?" Nayeon looked at the guy. "Your husband ?! You already remarried without telling me-"

Nayeon felt the weight of a slap on her right cheek.

She held it, frowning.

Ji-eun folded her arms. "Jungkook, why don't you wait on outside."

Nayeon stared in shock.

"Why did you push me into a corner when it's not any of your business ? Why are you so thoughtless ?"

"T- Thoughtless ?" Nayeon repeated.

Ji-eun sighed.

"We've been divorced for almost three years now. The past is the past, Nayeon-ssi. I learnt many things during my time abroad in the US. I learnt many things about myself. How I was wrong about myself. Who I was. What I am."

Nayeon's eyes widened.

"I'm sure you didn't know, but today is my birthday."

Nayeon frowned.

"Thank you for making my birthday a happy one."

She stormed off.

"Ji-eun ah. Ji- Ji eun..."

Nayeon sighed.

"I knew it was your birthday. That's why I came here..."

Nayeon wiped away the tear that was forming in her eye.

...

Jeongyeon stared at the map on her office desk, twirling a pencil in her left hand

(Everland Guide Map)

Nayeon sat on the couch.

"Why are you looking at the Everland Guide Map ?"

Jeongyeon did not reply.

"Ah, you must be looking at it for a reason. Was I being thoughtless ? I'm sorry if I was."

"There's no need to apologize," Jeongyeon stated.

"Right. Actually, it's not something I need to apologize for. I was just being thoughtless."

"Why do you keep saying "thoughtless" ?"

"I accidentally ran into Ji-eun a while ago."

Jeongyeon looked up.

"And she said I was thoughtless. Yeah, yeah actually I was thoughtless."

"What are you talking about ? I thought you said you were going to forget her," Jeongyeon pointed out.

"I was going to forget her. But I just happened to run into her. And surprise, I found out that not only was she straight now, she was also married. To some young punk."

Jeongyeon frowned.

"Never mind. It was actually thoughtless of me to go there."

She turned to Jeongyeon.

"Jeongyeon-ssi. Never split up with Ms Myoui. Breakup hurts."

Jeongyeon scoffed.

"I just gave you two an advice. That was very thoughtless of me. I was so thoughtless."

She turned to Jeongyeon again.

"Yah. Let's drink."

"I have somewhere to go," Jeongyeon replied.

"With Ms Myoui ?"

Jeongyeon nodded.

"Is it me or Ms Myoui ?"

Jeongyeon scoffed. "What are you trying to do ?"

Nayeon began bouncing on the couch.

"Come on and drink with me. I don't want to be alone. It's too lonely."

Jeongyeon nodded. "Okay. I can't let you be lonely alone."

"Did you just choose me over Ms Myoui ?" Nayeon grinned.

"Oh no I can't do that. You don't have a project after the acquisition of the airline. Why don't you go have a meeting and get an update on the present state of the business ?" Jeongyeon suggested.

Nayeon's smile faltered.

"Are you trying to make me work while i'm like this ?"

"You said you don't want to be alone."

"I don't want to work even more !" Nayeon leaned back on the couch.

Jeongyeon raised an eyebrow.

"Ah, fine. I shoudn't have told you about it. I was thoughtless. So very thoughtless. From now on you might as well call me Ms Thoughtless instead of Ms Im."

"Ms Thoughtless."

Nayeon frowned at Jeongyeon.

"Goodbye."

...

"Fine... if you don't want to drink then i'll just ask Ms Hirai- Oh good afternoon," Nayeon greeted the group of girls who were just returning from their spa session.

"I feel so refreshed after that session. All that tension is just gone," Jihyo said, rotating her shoulders.

"I feel so distracted that I won't be able to work well. How nice would it be if we can just go home ?" Sana pouted.

The rest of the girls nodded and agreed with her.

"You should go home."

Their eyes widened.

"I am sorry, Ms Yoo. I made a mistake," Sana bowed.

Jeongyeon chuckled. "There's no need to be sorry or to be embarrassed. Even before you said it, Ms Minatozaki, I was already thinking about it."

Sana put her hand over .

"You should all go home and take a good rest," Jeongyeon urged.

Mina smiled.

"No. We already wasted half a day at the spa. Since you made us feel much better, we will work very hard," Jihyo exclaimed.

They nodded their heads in agreement.

"It's alright. You should go home. You need days like this to increase your work efficiency anyway-"

"I will increase my work efficiency now !" Jihyo stated.

"Just... increase it tomorrow."

Mina chuckled.

"Should we... then ?" Jihyo asked.

Jeongyeon nodded.

"Well then for Ms Yoo who has worked hard to boost the morale of her staff, let's give her a round of applause-"

Jeongyeon put up a hand.

"Please. If you clap your hands for every small favour I do, your hands won't last."

They nodded.

"You should all go home then."

She turned to Mina.

"Ms Myoui, stay behind and talk to me for a while."

Mina nodded and smiled.

Jeongyeon looked at the rest of her team, who were still unsure whether or not to leave.

"Go home then."

They got moving, bowing to Jeongyeon before leaving.

It was just Mina and Jeongyeon left.

Jeongyeon chuckled.

Mina laughed.

...

Jeongyeon and Mina walked towards the direction of the building's porch.

"Don't be mistaken, Ms Myoui. This is not a privilege either. I let everyone go home early."

"Today is fine, but don't do this again tomorrow. I really am fine," Mina stated.

Jeongyeon turned to Mina.

"How are you feeling ?" Jeongyeon asked.

"I feel good, thanks to you," Mina grinned.

"Then let's go somewhere with me."

"Where ?" Mina asked.

Jeongyeon smiled and walked off.

Mina scratched her head.

They made it outside, where Jeongyeon's car was parked.

Dahyun was standing infront of it with her hands behind her back.

"You should go home too, Ms Kim," Jeongyeon told Dahyun.

Dahyun looked confused.

"Everyone went home early today," Mina stated.

Dahyun nodded.

Jeongyeon and Mina got into the car.

"Drive safely," Dahyun bowed.

Jeongyeon waved.

Dahyun watched as the car drove away.

"Everyone must have left. Ms Minatozaki must have left too."

She pouted.

...

"Cheers," Nayeon said to Momo.

Their glasses clinked.

Nayeon gulped down the contents of the bottle hurriedly.

Momo put her glass to her lips and sipped. She cringed slightly. She was never fond of soju. She stared outside the window of Nayeon's office. The sky went dark since a while ago.

"Why aren't you drinking with me, Ms Hirai ?" Nayeon asked.

Momo sighed.

"You're drunk, Ms Im-"

"No i'm not !" Nayeon frowned. Her face was already red.

Momo stared at the number of empty bottles already on the table. "She clearly was drunk," Momo thought to herself.

"Come on, Ms Hirai," Nayeon offered a bottle to Momo. "Drink with me."

"That's enough, Ms Im. You had enough for the night," Momo said, taking the bottle away from Nayeon.

"Why don't you let me drink ?!" Nayeon asked, annoyed.

Momo sighed.

"Did you know, I ran into my ex-wife today."

Momo looked at Nayeon.

"And did you know what she said ?" Nayeon asked Momo. "Come on, ask me."

"What did she say-"

"She said I was thoughtless. THOUGHTLESS. And did you know something, she was married. To some man. Absolutely outrageous !"

Momo gulped.

"How foolish I was to think that I had another chance with her. Guess it was just wishful thinking on my part."

Nayeon leaned back in her seat.

Momo looked at her boss.

She didn't know how to feel.

Sympathy ?

Happiness ?

She took a deep breath.

I better say it now, I might not get another chance in the future.

"Ms Im."

Momo calmed herself.

"I..."

Momo took another deep breath.

"I... l- like you."

She closed her eyes, waiting for a response. There was none.

"I have no idea where this came from, it was most probably since the time when you hired me as your secretary. Seeing you like this, how sad you are, it makes me feel bad for not being able to help you. And I just want to hold you tight to me, and keep you safe. I really want to tell you to continue having faith, but I have to think about my feelings too... and honestly, I want you to forget about her-"

Momo was interrupted by a loud snore.

She looked over at her boss.

She was in deep sleep, her head tilted to her side.

Momo breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank god.

She went over to Nayeon's desk and pulled open the drawer, fishing out Nayeon's blanket. She walked back to Nayeon.

She is so beautiful.

Momo covered Nayeon with the blanket, making sure she was comfortable.

Nayeon moved in her sleep.

She sat down beside her boss.

Without knowing it, she had leaned closer to her boss's face.

She planted a kiss on her forehead.

Don't worry.

...

Jeongyeon walked hand in hand with Mina. They were in Everland.

"By the way, why did you bring me here ?" Mina asked.

"Because I wanted to show you this."

They stopped infront of the merry-go-round.

Jeongyeon looked at the ride.

"It was exactly this spot. That house."

She turned back to Mina.

"I mean that place we were locked up inside of."

Mina looked at the ride.

"How do you know that ?"

"Well I just felt like finding out, so I went through aerial photographs, old cadastral data, and even the old maps of Everland. And it turned out to be here. This merry-go-round."

Mina sighed.

"Did you know what the first thing I thought about was ?" Jeongyeon asked her.

"What was it ?"

"Thank goodness."

Mina smiled.

"I thought the horrible memories could be covered up by the happy memories of the people who ride this merry-go-round."

"You're right. Now this place is filled with only happy memories instead of a painful memory."

Jeongyeon smiled.

The sound of children's laughter filled the air.

"And there is one more place I would like to show you. Come on."

Jeongyeon grabbed Mina's hand.

They walked, past the benches, past the T-Express, past the viking ship.

They were at the foutain.

"What are we doing here ? Do you want to throw a coin in and make a wish ?" Mina asked.

Jeongyeon chuckled. "Your wish has already came true. You found the girl that you were so desperately looking for."

Mina smiled.

"You've been curious about it. Where your old house used to be."

Mina looked at the fountain.

"Then..."

Jeongyeon nodded.

"It's here."

Mina stared at the fountain.

The crystal clear water with the large faucet at the top which spewed great streams of water. It was beautiful.

"Wow. So this used to be my old house... It's amazing."

Jeongyeon smiled.

"Like you said, I am so glad that it's not a toilet or a haunted house," Mina grinned.

Jeongyeon felt warmth.

"You wouldn't know. "

"You wouldn't know how much it means to me... that we are able to talk about that time so casually."

Mina went in for a hug.

One which Jeongyeon did not want to break.

"We will always be happy."

"We will always be together."
