Not My Love

Our Love Story: The Chobom Timeline

The rollercoaster of events in a year caused the members to grow up and mature. They had become even more stunning by their next album release, and the group was hotter than ever. As idols, their hairstyles were always shifting a lot and this was no different with their image maturing slightly from the uplifting "NoNoNo" to the lovely "Mr Chu".

Bomi sported an eye-catching ombre hairstyle for their comeback. She was the next member after Hayoung to try a bit of blonde and it looked pretty good on her. Chorong had to admit herself that the dancer was getting more beautiful these days, and that sentiment must've been spreading because of the fangirls Bomi was really attracting these days! It was hilarious how Bomi was happy about that.

With a simple but enchanting look, Chorong memorably went natural with straight black hair, especially in the end of their promotions. Although it was partly for her drama acting debut, the dark colour appeared to accentuate the intensity of the leader's gaze if that was even possible, complementing the paleness of her skin. It also felt comforting for Chorong to hide underneath her hair in a way, although styling bangs could be a hassle.

The members of Apink had become stronger, more united, and somewhat less childish in a year, though only by a little. Nothing could change the fact that they were playful and hilarious variety queens together.

Particularly, Chorong had matured to be more quiet and serious from her lively Apink News days. Their weak-hearted tofu leader stayed as soft and caring towards her members' feelings like a mother. She would praise the members for their efforts and hard work, and was able to control them when they were fooling around. Even the difference between her horror driving skills as a beginner, to now having a license and being able to drive the girls anywhere—she was a cool unnie.

Bomi was glad to see Chorong doing better than before. She seemed a lot happier these days, brightly smiling and joking around with them. It was a delightful contrast to the darkness of her hair, and Bomi was happy with whatever happiness the leader could feel. She just had to be there for her when she needed her.

"Bomi-ya, always try to think of yourself as a leader. You will be more cautious and think twice in everything you do. You are the second oldest so think of yourself as a leader while promoting!"

Hearing these cool words from Chorong, the younger girl took it to heart. She gave a lot of support to Chorong to alleviate the leader's stress.

Bomi was the second oldest who didn't feel like the second oldest—an unnie that the younger members weren't afraid of. And although they were the same age, it might seem like Eunji was capable in leading, because she was warm like a dad. However, the members all had their hidden strengths. Once Bomi began taking responsibility in her own way, her second-in-command position really started to shine through.

Whenever Chorong was losing energy, Bomi was quick to be by her side. Bomi knew when the leader was tired and would give simple directions on her behalf—calling for a break time or when practice might resume, for example. Bomi grinned cheekily at how responsible she sounded. Though she had always been thoughtful and caring to her members, Bomi was now taking it a step up with this.

Everyone agreed that Bomi was Chorong's right-hand woman.

——

The wounds of losing, not only a lover, but someone who had been a childhood friend and an older sister to Bomi, healed with time. However, not long after their break-up, the news of her ex-girlfriend's marriage came to hit her in a sore place.

It hurts me even more that she's getting married just like that. Does love not matter? Did we not matter?

Bomi sighed, crestfallen over her ex.

She was reminded of the conversations they had, and how her unnie had always dreamed to have a family of her own. They never delved that far into their future, such as talking about marriage... but it suddenly occurred to Bomi that she was never a part of that dream.

Bomi felt more sour about the fact that it was with a man she didn't know. At least if it was one of their old friends, she'd be comforted that her unnie was being treated well. They never did tell her unnie's family about their relationship, and knowing how against the idea those folks were, it was probably for the best. Whether this was an arranged marriage, her unnie's dream, or something genuine... It shouldn't care to her anymore. They were over.

But it still annoyed her greatly.

That girl really got married! How can I not be upset?

Bomi gave up on her dwindling thoughts. Her unnie was happy, they said. She would just have to be satisfied with that.

It was here that Bomi felt like beginning her own musical process; writing and composing a song. Her feelings were the main inspiration.

She hoped that writing a song about it could become an outlet for these feelings, and help her move on.

That's what artists do. They create art, often by their own raw experiences—making something great out of something they have gone through themselves.

That use of talent and creativity was what blurred the line between idols and artists. She had her own members to look up to for that—Eunji, who wrote a solo back in Apink News, and Chorong being Apink's resident lyricist these days. With their experience, she could even ask them for help if she wanted to, but right now, Bomi

Chapter 21: Hi!

I've read all 19 available chapters in the past week and I got to say, I'm genuinely impressed with what you've accomplished with this story so far. A very well developed story. It's beautiful and heartwarming. The characters show so much vulnerability, it is impossible to be unmoved by their journey. And all the efforts you've put in following real life events is outstanding.

One of the many things I love about this story is how Chorong accepted early on that she is in love with Bomi, even though she hasn't come to terms with what it means about who she is and about her uality. I love how you show her internal turmoil on the subject. I love the way you slowly, subtly, make her grow and discover more about herself with each chapter. I especially love those few moments when an unwelcome tought crosses her mind and she instantly reprimands herself for it. It's something I've never read in a story before, but that is so relatable. We're all guilty of it sometimes.

I also love how you depict Chorong's growing attraction for Bomi with each chapter, through a moment, a thought or a touch. It happens slowly, gradually, naturally.

And the way you wrote about Bomi being always patient and accepting of Chorong's pace through their relationship and the physicality of it; and then got the story and their relationship to the point where, in chapter 18, Bomi is the one who needs to take a step back when Chorong reaches under her shirt... Just, wow. Seriously, I'm in awe of how this story unfolds and progresses. Everything feels so true, realistic and authentic.

Also, the references at the end of each chapter are once again very appreciated!

Thanks for writing this story, I'm looking forward to see what happens next. <3
