Mina woke up feeling the warmth coming from her significant other. It was a fine Sunday early in the morning, the weather is perfect and she nuzzled her nose against Momo’s collarbone. She really loved it when they are this close, body pressed against each other, waking up seeing your loved ones first thing in the morning.

She stared at the older’s sleeping face, Momo looked tired. And she traced every part of her features with her slender finger, trailing from her forehead, brows, nose, and her lips like appreciating God’s perfect creation.

Momo scrunched her nose at the contact and she slowly opened her eyes to be greeted with Mina’s content face.

“Have you slept well?” Mina asked worriedly.

“Of course, I feel recharged” Momo responded as she placed a gentle kiss on Mina’s temple. It was comforting and Mina wanted this moment to last like nothing else matters.

Buzz. Momo’s phone alarmed while they are cuddling under Mina’s blanket. Momo reached out for her phone and saw the time. It’s already six in the morning and she has to prepare for her morning classes in cram school. She sat up quick and put on her clothes.

“I’m sorry Mina, I have to go” Momo pecked Mina’s lips as she sat up slowly while observing her rushing girlfriend.

“It’s okay, please be careful on your way to cram school”

Momo hurriedly went outside, and Mina felt empty again. Empty. Her chest heaved in a heavy sigh. She picked up her clothes at a leisurely pace as if she had all the time in world. It’s Sunday anyway and she doesn’t have anything to do. She wanted to keep her mind occupied but her thoughts always bounce back to Momo, she misses her girlfriend a lot. She missed those times when Momo would patiently wait for her after the basketball practice and they will go home together. But now she felt neglected. Yes, she appreciated Momo’s effort on making time for her, but it’s not enough. Not enough to fill the void she’s feeling right now.

Her thoughts were cut off by the ringing of her phone. Chaeyoung? She picked up the call and a cheerful voice echoed from the other end of the line.

“Hi Minari, I know it’s a bit early but can you accompany me today, I’ll be going somewhere”

Mina thought of it, sincerely. She’s free anyway and Momo’s busy with studies, she got no reasons to say no.

“Okay, pick me up in an hour” she responded and she can clearly hear the happy giggle from the point guard.

“Thank you! I’ll be there”

Mina was caught off guard when the younger intertwine her hand against hers. She found herself letting the younger drag her along everywhere and now they are in this beautiful field full of blooming flowers. She doesn’t even know that this place existed and her jaw dropped at the breathtaking sight.

“This… is beautiful” she gasped in astonishment. And Chaeyoung was more than happy that Mina loved the place.

“I’m glad you like it, come, I’ll show you more” and again she dragged Mina towards the uphill where she can have a look over the entirety of the flower farm. Mina was stunned at its beauty. Her mind suddenly betrays her when image of Momo suddenly pops out in her mind, and she felt her chest tightens as she missed her so much. It would be perfect if she’s with Momo. She took a mental note that she’ll bring Momo here soon.

It was almost late in the afternoon and they were on their way back after exploring the town. It was a long ride. They are sitting at the furthest corner of the bus with few passengers on board. Mina was looking outside the window, letting her thoughts wander.

“How are you and Momo?” Chaeyoung asked to break Mina’s thoughts. She is also curious about the two.

“We’re okay, I think, it’s just that, she’s really busy with cram school and of course she’ll graduate soon so…” Mina stopped what she’s saying, realizing that she’s spilling all the information too freely to her companion.

“Do you feel neglected?” Chaeyoung continued and Mina swallowed hard feeling the words stabbing her. She tried so hard not to feel that way, she tried hard to feel okay when Momo isn’t around. She tried hard to keep herself sane when she’s alone in her room waiting for her girlfriend’s message that didn’t arrive.

There was a momentary silence. She gets rid of these negative thoughts as she looked back to the person asking.

“Not really” and she turned her head outside the window and pretended to sleep.

Chaeyoung walked Mina home after they get off the bus. Mina was silent, but the younger stopped her tracks as she clutched on Mina’s arm.

“You can tell me what’s wrong, I’m your friend right?” Chaeng said reassuring that Mina can trust her with her worries. It was obvious that Mina isn’t feeling okay since she’s been spacing out every now and then even though she tried so hard to make her happy.

Mina stared at the younger’s sincere look. And she suddenly felt comfortable to share her thoughts.

As the sky was painted dark, the two settled at the playground near Mina’s house. They were eating ice cream bought from the convenience store while sitting at the swing.

“She spoiled me so much, she gave me all of her time when I was busy, and now that the situation has reversed, we’ve been seeing each other lesser. It’s vexing, how I wanted to be with her always. But I couldn’t bring myself to tell her that” she heaved a heavy sigh after pouring her heart out.

“Why don’t you go to her? Visit her or something?” the younger suggested.

“Even if I want to, I do not want to disturb her, but I couldn’t help but to feel alone every time she’s not around. Also, I’m worried if while we’re not seeing each other, someone might steal her away”

“How can you say that?”

“There’s this girl that she used to have one night stand with, and she’s annoying she’s been all around Momo while I was not around” Mina blurted as she remembered the phone call before. Still she couldn’t help but to feel worried.

“Maybe you just have to trust Momo” the words the younger blurted hits Mina. Her mind’s a mess. She felt that she and Momo are becoming distant, and it is unbearable.

“I want to” she whispered.

“If you can’t get your worries out of your head, maybe this will help you” the younger said as she stood up in front of Mina.

In a moment, Chaeyoung leaned forward as she brushed her lips against Mina’s. Mina was caught off guard and her eyes were widely open at the contact. It was sudden but she felt her heart jumped out of her rib cage at the action.

That was a quick kiss, but Mina was still frozen in her position, grasping what just happened.

“I think it’s effective” the younger chuckled as she pulled away and stood straight.

Momo rubs her temple while reading the thick textbook, she’s overwhelmed with the whole day class and she felt that she couldn’t keep up with her lessons. She leaned her back against the chair and closed her eyes.

It was late in the evening and she took her phone to dial Mina’s number. Maybe when she hears Mina’s voice her headache will vanish.

The call was picked up after less than a minute and she was greeted by a tired voice from Mina.

“Hello” at a simple word, Momo’s mood brighten.

“How was your day? I thought you’re already sleeping” the older wanted to keep the conversation going as she wanted to talk with her more but she felt a bit guilty since Mina doesn’t sound okay.

“I’m okay, I’m just tired…maybe” Mina said and Momo heard a yawn coming from the other line.

“I see. Have you eaten?”

“Yes. We ate before goin-“ Mina was quick to hold back what she’s saying. She was about to say they already ate, both her and Chaeyoung before heading back home. But she couldn’t bring herself to tell the truth. She remembered what just happened a while ago and the guilt seeps deep inside her.

A cough.

“I mean I already ate” she rephrased and Momo hums in response, not perceiving the change of Mina’s tone.

“That’s good to hear” Momo was loss for words, she didn’t know what will keep her girlfriend interested to talk more as she can sense a bit of tiredness in the younger’s voice. It piqued her interest to ask what made Mina tired.

“Uhm, what did you do today?” Momo asked while tapping her ball pen in a rhythmic pattern against her book.

Mina paused. She couldn’t bring herself to say the truth, that she went out the whole day with Chaeyoung, and that the younger did something.

“I just accompany a friend outside, and I just got home, how was studying?” Mina said diverting the topic back to Momo

“I’m okay, I was just a bit exhausted with the whole day lecture but it’s worth it”

“Hmm great” Mina said under her breath.

“You seem really sleepy, I’ll hang up and rest well! I love you” Momo said and Mina was about to reply when Momo already hanged up.

She slumped her body against her bed. Then a tear unconsciously fell from her eyes. Damn what am I doing?

Mina shouldn’t be surprised when she woke up not really feeling well. Her eyes were puffy and she don’t feel like going to school. She checked her phone anticipating a message from Momo, it became a habit that Momo would send a “Good morning” or “Take care on your way to school” but not today. She couldn’t even leave a message. She pulled her hair frustratingly.

Mina still went to school. She’s not really used to skipping classes but she’s feeling under the weather. She can feel her head spinning when she suddenly stood up from her seat in the classroom, the last thing she can remember is her classmate shouting “Mina passed out” before she fell unconscious.

She dreamt of Momo, hoping that the older would visit her in the clinic where she’s lying. When she opened her eyes, a familiar face greeted her, it was Son Chaeyoung.

“What are you doing here?” she asked as her eyes scanned the expanse of the clinic looking for a specific person she wished to see.

“Remember I told you I would visit here after class, and one of your classmate told me you passed out, are you feeling well?” the younger asked worriedly.

Mina nodded feeling disappointed at the absence of Momo. She knew the older has cram school right after her last class but Mina is still hopeful that she would appear at times like these.

Chaeyoung broke the silence as she spoke, squeezing Mina’s hands against hers.

“Mina, you know I still like you” the statement earned Mina’s attention and in a heartbeat, Chaeyoung crashed her lips against Mina, she couldn’t control her feelings toward the older. She doesn’t care if she’s dating Momo, and she has to grab every opportunity with Mina, even taking advantage of her disarray of thoughts. The kiss was sloppy. Mina couldn’t fight back, or maybe she could but wouldn’t want to. She’s been fighting her own demon in her head but the demon won, she kissed back. They pulled away as they heard a thud and Chaeyoung was quick to look outside the clinic but the person who just saw them was quicker to run away. She wasn’t able to know who on earth saw them inside.

Mina felt her head hurts more after what they’ve done. She buried her face against her palm and she tucked her knees at the bed. Oh no, what have I done?

Chaeyoung approached her once again and settled at the chair beside her.

“Don’t worry, no one will know” she assured her as she rubs her hand at the top of Mina’s hands.

Mina couldn’t answer. She’s too occupied.

“Please leave me alone” she said and Chaeyoung complied.

Mina felt the urge to see Momo right now that’s why she’s outside the building of the cram school waiting for Momo to finish her class. It was late but she’s patiently waiting. When she saw students coming out one by one, she extends her neck trying to find a particular person.

Then Momo appeared heading outside the building while fixing her coat. Mina run towards her in a flash and she hugged her girlfriend tight. Momo was surprised to see her since the younger didn’t told her she’s going there, yet she returned the hug and nuzzled her face on the crook of the younger’s neck, taking a whizz of Mina’s shampoo.

“You should have told me you would come” Momo said as she rub Mina’s back with her palm.

“I missed you so much” Mina said feeling the warm breath against her neck.

Mina insisted on spending the night at Momo’s apartment. She promised that she wouldn’t disturb her while studying and will just quietly stay there. Momo just gave her a very warm smile and a pat on her head. “You’re not disturbing me, never” she said in weak voice.

Mina sat at Momo’s bed observing her girlfriend who is now sitting in the corner facing her study table. Momo really studies hard, and Mina felt the guilt seeping inside her again by feeling anxious when Momo couldn’t message her. She felt her insides turn upside down, she’s been so unfair, there’s no way she would tell Momo about what happened earlier. She’s afraid Momo might hate her that’s why she wants to bury everything in her head. That never happened, Mina. She convinced herself.   

Hours passed and Momo is still studying, Mina approached the older girl and she hugged her from behind. Momo was startled with the sudden action. She can smell the lavender scent coming from Mina and she felt calm. Momo closed her eyes and released a sigh.

“How long are you going study? It’s getting late” Mina silently asked, Momo can feel the warm breath against her ears.

“Are you sleepy?” Momo asked and she turned her head a bit to take a glance at her. Their faces were an inch apart. Mina couldn’t control her yearning and desire and she wanted to be the closest to Momo. She leaned forward, brushing her lips against Momo’s. It started as a soft kiss and Mina couldn’t hold back as she parted her lips wanting to deepen the contact. She wanted more. She wanted Momo’s attention to her. She wanted to forget the taste of Chaeyoung’s lips. I’m sorry, Momo.

Mina wanted to sit beside Momo so the older girl decided to continue reading her book at the bed so Mina could sleep beside her. Mina was giddy when Momo agreed. As Mina lied beside Momo, she wrapped her arms around her and drifted to sleep.

It didn’t take long for Mina to sleep since it’s already midnight. Momo stopped what she’s reading when she felt Mina entered dreamland and she stared at her girlfriend’s sleeping face attentively. She shoved the strands of hair that’s covering her face and tucked them on her ears.

“If you only knew how much I love you” she whispered as her thoughts wander to the scene she witnessed in the clinic earlier before she went to the cram school

“Have you seen Mina?” Momo asked one of Mina’s classmate after her last class ended. She forgot to message the younger girl early in the morning so she’s worried that Mina might feel lonely.

“Ah you’re Momo right? She passed out earlier, she doesn’t look okay. She’s resting in the clinic now” the person with a thick glasses answered and Momo didn’t even respond as she quickly run towards the clinic upon hearing the news. She’s worried.

As she was about to open the clinic’s door, she noticed it was slightly open and she can see two figures inside, she pushed the door lightly and the heartbreaking scene unfold right before her eyes. She couldn’t move, her knees became stiff and she can feel her hand shaking. She stood there the entire time, like observing intently how the two kissed deeply. But she couldn’t take it anymore. This is all too much. Too much for Momo to see, too much for her to grasp. Her vision became hazy as she couldn’t control the tears escaped her eyes. She gasped. And she turned her back to run away. She knew the two didn’t noticed her, didn’t see her as she run away. How ironic, I can run faster now than Chaeyoung. She’s catching her breath as she went to bathroom cubicle.

She calmed herself down though her thoughts were in a disarray. It wouldn’t help her if she would dwell with those thoughts. But still she couldn’t believe what she saw. Mina wouldn’t do such things behind her back. There should be an explanation. Momo convinced herself as she went to cram school feeling down.

Momo felt inexistent the entire class. She tried so hard to focus but the image lingers in her head like reminding her that she has to confront Mina soon. She has to know the truth coming from Mina’s mouth. Maybe her eyes were just playing tricks on her and what she saw is entirely different from what it really is.

The class ended, she went outside fixing her coat when a tight hug welcomed her. It was Mina. She was undeniably surprised. What is she doing here?

Momo returned the hug and nuzzled her face on the crook of the younger’s neck, taking a whizz of Mina’s shampoo. Momo wanted to cry. But she stayed still, suppressing the tears.

“You should have told me you would come” Momo said as she rub Mina’s back with her palm.

“I missed you so much” Mina said and Momo felt her heart ached at the statement. She felt these words crushed her insides. I missed you too. In a heartbeat, Momo felt all her resolves crumble in front of her eyes. I would forget everything if it would mean I could stay with you like this. I don’t need the truth that might break us apart. I’ll patiently wait until you tell me everything, even if that time wouldn’t come, I’ll still forgive you. If only you knew how much I love you.
