Sometime around 2018

 

Minatozaki Sana heard it a thousand times before.

 

She heard it from the movies.

 

She heard it from their neighbors.

 

Even from her own mother.

 

“You never really know the value of something until you lose it,”

 

That was Sana’s reason all this time. Her reason why she always makes sure that the people that pass by her direction will have a good time with her.

 

Because…

 

Just because.

 

But today it is different.

 

She never has really lost the knowledge of how valuable Momo is in her life.

 

She knew it.

 

From front to back and back to front.

 

From the time she has her and not have her anymore.

 

Sana knew.

 

Yet, she still loses it.

 

No, she lets her runaway.

 

Why?

 

What for?

 

Was it vengeance?

 

Was if grief?

 

Was it to make herself satisfied with something?

 

She keeps on asking herself why did she let it be this way?

 

Is she even contented with the ending?

 

Sana is sweating. She has never really run in her life since she ended things with Momo.

 

“I really don’t know if I deserve to stay, or to have my dream back, but one thing I know I have been so miserable without it, I thought that dying would have been better than moving forward with my life without it,”

 

The words of Momo echo in Sana’s head.

 

They felt the same way.

 

They were on the same boat.

 

A miserable life.

 

A life that death could have been the only solution if it hadn’t because of Sana’s family.

 

She could have taken up some measures.

 

Extreme measures.

 

And with that Sana realizes something.

 

It wasn’t just because of her family. It was also because of Momo, of her hope of having Momo back in her life.

 

They may have grown apart during the past years, but they never really stop thinking of each other.

 

They continue to become each other’s center of their Universes.

 

It wasn’t because Momo comes back in her life like a hurricane it was because she was ready.

 

Ready to take Sana back in her life.

 

Ready to face the uncertainties they had when they have decided to call it quits.

 

And yet, Sana is not yet.

 

No, it is not that, she is rather afraid.

 

Afraid of getting hurt again because she knows that Momo is the only who can do that.

 

Afraid of repeating the same mistake again.

 

Afraid of doubting herself again.

 

They did not break up because they were fundamentally wrong for each other.

 

If anything, they were perfect for each other.

 

Too perfect that when everything crumbles up they thought that was it.

 

They did not give each other the chance to fix it.

 

They ended it thinking it was the best for the other.

 

And now.

 

They both knew that it was the worst for them.

 

Sana searched for over an hour but to her dismay, Momo isn’t anywhere.

 

She went back to their room.

 

She looks around and it is the same, nothing has changed since they went out this morning.

 

Sana’s heart sunk even more.

 

She immediately runs to the place where Momo’s bag is.

 

And she lets out a sigh of relief.

 

Momo is still on the island.

 

Her backpack is still there, same way they left it in the morning.

 

Sana sat on the floor.

 

She looks at Momo’s things.

 

She would always prepare Momo’s things for her.

 

She would always make sure that Momo brings everything she needs.

 

Sana is the one who always takes care of those but now, looking how Momo tried to organize her clothes.

 

To bring all the necessary things she needs for this trip alone.

 

It makes Sana proud.

 

The other thing that makes Sana proud is that Momo standing the center of the stage.

 

Doing what she loves doing.

 

The things Sana conceal cannot be concealed anymore.

 

She hugs the backpack of Momo.

 

She hugs it as she longs for it.

 

It reflects the feeling that she has with Momo.

 

Sana does not know how long but she feels waken up by the doorbell of their room.

 

It is ringing.

 

Sana stands up from where she was sitting, still hugging Momo’s belongings.

 

She opens the door without realizing who it was.

 

And…

 

“Sana,”

 

Chungha appears with a drunken Momo in her arms.

 

Sana immediately grabs Momo in worry.

 

“What happened?”

 

Sana sees a couple of bruises around Momo.

 

“She fell because of too much drunkenness,” Chungha explains.

 

Sana is not removing her eyes to Momo.

 

She is trying her best to help her.

 

Chungha smiles.

 

“I should have done it years ago, I should have brought her to you than anywhere else,” Chungha starts a conversation.

 

Sana finally looks at Chungha.

 

“She wasn’t supposed to drink, I mean, she was in rehab for a couple of months because she became alcohol dependent when you broke up, she stopped only when Mina used you to make her stop, I found her bleeding on the street, waiting for her own death,” There are tears in Chungha’s eyes.

 

“She was calling for you, pleading for you but I never brought you to her, I don’t know why, I was so mad at you for hurting Momo, for making her stop dreaming, for making her hate living, but even though she was that miserable she thought of you, she wanted you to live wonderfully,” She continues.

 

“There isn’t a day that Momo missed watching you going home safely, watching you become successful, become who you have become, she did not miss a day, she wanted to fix herself to fit in your world, and that made me realize that she loves you more than anything,” Chungha smiles to Sana.

 

“She loves you more than her own life…”

 

Sana is just looking at Chungha.

 

“I know you saw that the night that she kissed me, she thought I was you, She pleads for me to be you, but there is nothing between me and Momo, if anything, I just wanted my friend to be happy, again,”

 

Chungha looks at Momo.

 

Then she looks at Sana.

 

“I want her to be the person she was when you were in her life, The cheerful, funny, understanding and patience, Momo, that is why I should have brought her to you the moment she gave up in life, that is why..” Chungha cries.

 

Sana smiles.

 

“Thank you,” She says to Chungha.

 

“Thank you for bringing her back, I’ll take it from here Chungha,” There are tears in Sana’s eyes.

 

Chungha smiles. She nods.

 

She trusts Sana.

 

Furthermore, she cannot see her friend fall in despair again.

This time she is doing it right.

 

Offering the proper solution.

 

She’ll trust Sana this time.

 

She’ll trust Momo this time.

 

She’ll trust the love that these two have for each other.

 

 

 

 

Taking care of a drunken Momo is not something new to Sana.

She does it most of the time.

 

She remembers the feeling of being annoyed seeing Momo at that state.

 

The feeling of being fed up in the situation they were in.

 

But what she really felt every night during those nights resonates.

 

The feeling of having a home.

 

The feeling of being home.

 

Now, she feels like she can do this forever.

 

Without any complaints.

 

She caresses Momo’s back.

 

Momo’s face is near the bowl. She throws up all the alcohol that she puts in her system.

 

And Sana stands behind her.

 

She is holding all of Momo’s hair in a bun.

 

“Momoring, you drink too much, again,” Sana says sweetly.

 

Momo looks up.

 

She meets Sana’s worried eyes.

 

“Sa chan,” Momo calls in a plea.

 

Sana answers with a hum.

 

“Tadaima,” Momo smiles.

 

And with that Sana’s heart melt.

 

Momo feels it too, the home inside Sana.
