Solar POV

As I set down the tea for my mom on the table and take a seat on my couch I notice how she’s already made herself at home. Reorganizing my things..

“How is the new job?”

“… it’s good.” I answer taking a sip of my own tea hoping she doesn’t pry 

“I’m glad you’ve found a stable job but I wouldn’t have known it from the state of your fridge. It’s empty what have you been living on?”

“You know I at cooking and I’ve been too busy to cook.” I defend 

“Too busy to cook? They aren’t over working you are they?” She worries 

“No… I have been busy but I enjoy it. By the way mom how long are you staying for? Did you book a hotel?”

“A hotel? When my daughter has a perfectly fine apartment ?”

“You’re staying here!?” I protest, “I don’t have another room!” 

“I’ve already moved my stuff into your room, I’ll take out the blow up mattress for you.” 

“Mom I am glad to see you but I’m really stressed out at the moment.”

The door bell rings and I sigh. What now!? 

“Were you expecting another guest?” My mom asks 
“No it might be the ahjuma from next door when she makes too much food she shares it with me . I’ll be back now.” 

I get up and walk to the door opening it expecting to see my neighbour. As soon as I see Moonbyul I slam the door shut immediately. 

“Hey! I came here because  I was worried. I heard voices and you suddenly hung up like that!” She shouts 

I open the door slightly, “Shut up! I’m fine! Leave now! How did you even know my room number!”

“Your landlord told me and why should I—”

“Who was at the door?” My mom asks curious after she heard the door slam and I’m caught with a partially open door. I’m about to close it when Byul moves her hand in the way pushing it open. 

I need to have a good chat with my landlord 

“I’m Moon Byulie, Solar’s boss. Sorry I didn’t know she had guests.”

I’m too much in shock to be able to comprehend this situation. Moonbyul meeting my mom!? No this should not be happening! 

“I’m Yongsun’s mother nice to meet you. She’s been in your care.” My mom greets

“Mrs Kim! It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She greets back

“Yongsun are you going to invite your boss in? Maybe offer her some tea? Sorry about my daughter.” She looks at me as if I have no manners and I reluctantly let go of the door 

“Please come in. Is there something you wanted to discuss CEO nim?” I say politely with hints of my annoyance showing through my eye contact with byul but she looks away cheekily 

She clears awkwardly, “Work matters. I don’t want to intrude though.”

“You already have.” I mutter under my breath 

“Nonsense, I’d love to hear how she’s doing at work . You two sit down and I’ll make you a cup of tea. Is green fine?” She offers Moonbyul 

“Yes thank you.” 

My mom disappears into the kitchen as we sit down on the couch. She sits right next to me even though I have another whole open couch. I take a deep breath and turn to her and punch her arm .

“Ow!” She moans 

“What are you doing!?” I whisper shout at her 

“I came to check up on you because I was worried! I didn’t know your mom was here!” She whisper shouts back 

I cover my face with my hands, “I can’t believe this is happening! Don’t do anything weird! Or say anything!” As soon as I say that I notice that Byuls hand has been resting very comfortably on my thigh. I’ve gotten so used to her touchiness I don’t even know when she put it there. I quickly move it from my thigh, “And definitely don’t do that!”

“It just happens without me thinking and when I’m nervous I like touching people. It calms me down.”

“Why are you nervous?”

“Because I’m meeting your mom. “ She says sincerely and rests her chin on my shoulder like a cute puppy . I’m swayed for a moment before I move back so she moves her head, “ I don’t want to make a bad first impression.”

I feel Byuls hand grab my pants to fidget with them. I move her hand but instead of letting go I keep hold to comfort her. We look into each others eyes and she smiles at me. 

“What?” I ask 

“I like holding your hand.”

I smile, “ You like holding everything, you’re so touchy. Sitting so close to me all the time.”

“That’s because I like being close to you. You don’t like it?” She flirts and my eyes are so focussed her pretty face I don’t want to look away. She has such a perfect nose and don’t get me started on her smirk 

I can feel my heart tighten and I trace her hand with my thumb without thinking much, “I don’t mind… it… “

Even if we were closer I wouldn’t… 

“Sorry the kettle was a bit different to the one I’m used to.” I hear and we mutually leave each others hand in an instant and shift away in a panic. My heart races. I almost forgot my mom was here! I knew it! I’m too obvious with Byul ! We’re too obvious! It’s actually feeling kind of hot right now. 

“Thank you!” Byullie says as she takes the cup. I’m not used to seeing her so nervous. It’s kind of cute. 

“I don’t mean to be rude but you look so young.” She says to Byul 

“It’s fine I get that a lot. I’ve been looking after the company while my dad recovers.” She explains 

“That must be a huge responsibility.”

“It is but Yong— personal assistant -ssi has been a big help.” She looks at me with a smile

Moonbyul POV 

I slowly open the hospital door. Seeing Solars mom earlier today made me want to see my dad. I walk into the room to see my dad lying on the hospital bed, hardly moving, hooked up to a machine, still deep in coma. Ever since he had a he’s been like this. I take a deep breath and take a seat beside his bed. Up close he looks even more sickly. Hardly any colour in his cheeks. 

“Dad… I know I haven’t been here in a while. The doctors still aren’t sure if you’re gonna wake up or not… but they don’t know you. You’re so stubborn I know you’ll break out of it and be back at work in no time.” I laugh till the awkward silence of the hospital room brings me back ,”You don’t have to worry… the company is fine.
