“I found fingerprints on the note,”The man spoke, adjusting the spectacles perched on his nose. “Other than Kim Namjoon, Detective Jeon and uh, his informant I found a 4th pair of fingerprints.”

“Pull it up,”Jungkook ordered. Both he and Jin were seated in Jung Hoseok’s lab. He was the station’s only chemist specializing in various forensic tests and also in the narcotics field. Before this however,Hoseok was also a field officer. After a series of incidents however, the man had requested a transfer to the much preferred desk job.

Jin was seated, noisily sipping on a diet coke. The projector screen lit up and a new suspect was shown.

“Mi Moonbyul,” Hoseok read out loud. “Was found guilty of owning assault weapons and also various handmade drug-inhaling devices.”

“She got released a year ago on probation,” Jin continued, “sounds like she could be the one who made Moonshine. I mean… The name’s a little bit obvious.”

Jungkook stared at the silver-haired female on display. “If that’s true, she’d be dead by now.”

All attention snapped to Jungkook before the man continued to explain, “I’ve got reports saying Namjoon’s personal chemist killed himself. That’s why he hasn’t been producing anymore of the drug.. Now what I need to know is why he’s sending kids to kill Ahn Hwasa..”

Hoseok set down his spectacles as he leant against the desk, “I can’t help you there bub, but I’ve got other news for you. The note is faked. The breakdown ingredients at a glance look like the same for but if you see here…”

Hoseok pulls up an image of the note Min Yoongi had handed the detective. Jungkook watches as the narcotics expert switches off the lights and shines an ultraviolet black light on the note.

He points a laser on the words written, “There’s a very faint writing under black light. Whoever wrote it was trying to conceal something. Probably from your main man Kim Namjoon himself.”

Jin stood up enthusiastically. “Great, so it’s really true? This is Moonshine.”

“That’s the good news,” Hoseok answered before swallowing the lump in his throat. “Bad news is that my guys from the Narcotics Bureau are saying this isn’t a drug. It’s some kind of top secret pill or something.”

Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows together, “What do you mean?”

“It’s some CIA man,” Hoseok answered, shutting of the projector immediately. “I’m not including this in the report to HQ but this is probably something bigger than we can handle. All I know is that if that drug lord has his hands on this note,a lot of people are going to suffer.”

“Does Captain know?” Jungkook asks.

Hoseok shakes his head. “I plan on keeping it that way. Ya’ll better close the case early. It ain’t worth it.”

Jin slams his laptop shut, frustrated. “We’ll see about that. You just watch your back Jung.”

Jungkook doesn’t know what to say after Jin marches out the door. It’s already about 6pm and Jeon had decided to drive to KYO to meet Cha Nayeon. Jin on the other hand had promised updates to his partner once the results of the autopsy for the shooters have been released.He’d focus on the black band all three shooters had on at the GNU attack.

Jungkook realizes too late that it’s ladies night which means the bar is packed. KYO is located in between Gangwon and Gangnam making it a hot spot for nightlife. There’s a live band playing as Jungkook walks in. His suit and tie makes it look as if he’s a patron. However between him and Nayeon, his wardrobe has always been a means of saying “Yes I’m here on business” or “No,I’m here to drink because I’m ing pissed.”

Today he’s come on business and soon enough he catches Nayeon’s attention who is standing behind the bar. The female bartender is still mixing drinks as Jeon waits in his usual corner. The males are still crowding over the counter, shouting for shots over the live music and busy chatter.

Once Nayeon’s freed, Jeon follows her escape to the back alley behind the bar. There’s the usual crowd of teenagers exchanging packets of white. The detective decides to close a blind eye but it doesn’t stop from one of the boys tripping over his own feet and smashing his skull in the ground.

Nayeon is laughing already,almost doubling over. “Get the out of here kid.”

Jungkook hides a smile as he slips his phone in his back pocket. “Seems like you’ve been doing good.”

Nayeon mirrors his smile. “Yeah I’ve been on that detox I promised Mr Kim. I tried rehab too. But uh… you know how that goes.”

Jungkook’s smile fades. He tries to think of a way to break the news down to Nayeon. His father and Nayeon’s most loved customer has passed 2 days ago. It felt like the Captain never left them in the first place.

“What do you need?” Nayeon asks, “I don’t have a lot of time.”

Jungkook pushes a paper towards Nayeon. “This girl. Recognize her? We think she’s Namjoon’s chemist.”
