Immortal Songs
Finding Sugar ManHow could I possibly explain what Sechskies means to me? Sechskies is to me what the Beatles is to many teenagers in the 60s. Scratch that. Forgive my bad analogy. Let me try again.
I was born in 1984; Sechskies debuted in 1997. Eun Jiwon, who was the leader, drummer, vocalist, and principal songwriter of the group, was the prince charming in all my teenage fairy tale dreams. Wait, change prince charming to dark knight because guitarist and lead vocalist Kang Sunghoon is the princely and charming one. Jang Suwon, the violinist, is the knight in steel armor. Knight, because he was also dreamy, but in steel armor because sometimes he ,acted a bit stiff. Lee Jaijin was on the keyboard (which made him clash with Eun leader, who was said to be a piano prodigy). Cool, calm, and collected Kim Jaeduck played bass. Go Jiyong is the tall and handsome classically trained cellist.
Before Sechskies, soloists and duos and idol dance groups were the norm. When they debuted, they definitely changed the game. Just imagine all those cool instruments, angsty lyrics, and go-big-or-go-home attitude. Pop rock never sounded and looked so good.
In 2000, I was in middle school when my family had to move to the Philippines for my father's career
