Kai was on his way home, tired with all the work in his father’s office. Being the one and only heir of Maple, his family wants him to know everything about their business before he take over the company. So here he was, stuck in the middle of the traffic and his car had to just give up on him. Kai got down from the back seat putting on a long deep coffee brown coat over his Armani suit. He instructed the driver to take care of his broken Audi and walked into the busy streets of Seoul. After a while, he found himself in front of a place which had golden ‘Café Universe’ written on it. Entering the café, he made himself comfortable in a far most corner. Just when he was about to pull out his phone, he saw someone familiar, making him grab onto a random book from the shelf beside him, hiding his face. It was Winni, standing behind the casher and taking orders with a big smile on her face. What is she doing here.?? Oh right, she is a commoner, of course she is doing a part time job. He saw her moving around the café, with a tiny book in her hand. She was wearing a deep brown apron over a red and black plaid dress.Her hair was set lose in contrary to the cute ponytails she have in school which made her look pretty. He smiled when he saw her playing with a kid, who was giggling along with her. He didn’t know how long he was staring. And why is he even hiding..??

“Winni, come here.”

“Dhe..sajangnim.”

“How many times should I say to you to call me Jin oppa. It makes me feel old.”

“Dhe Jin oppa..you called me.??”

“Yeah..That guy over there in the corner..The one holding the book upside down in front of his face..He has been sitting there since ages. Just go ask him if he is going to order or not.”

“Dhe.”

Winni walked to wards Kai who disparately tried to hide himself.

“Cho..sonnim..do you want to order something..?”

“Yeah..yeah..get me one cappuccino and a slice of Oreo cheese cake.” He replied, still covering his face with that book.

“Dhe..please wait, I will be back in few minutes. And sonnim, you are holding the book upside down”

Just like that, she left living behind Kai feeling like an idiot.

By the time Winni came back, Kai wasn’t holding onto the book anymore. His pride is too high for it. Why was he even hiding in the first place.?

Winni puts down his order and bowed. She widen her eyes when she realized who it was and immediately made an attempt to run away only to be pulled by a hand and force her to sit in front of him.

Winni sat there fidgeting with her dress sitting in front of that oh so god looking human being. She hasn’t seen him in a formal suit and hair styled before and she had to admit, he looked unearthly making her feel all giddy in her stomach. Kai was sitting there, crossing his legs and sipping onto his cappuccino. How can someone be so y just sipping onto his coffee..??

She came back to reality when Kai spoke after placing his cup down.

“Why do you run away every time you see me..?? Didn’t I stopped bullying you long time ago..What I am doing that makes you run away..??”

If only he knows what he does to her..she spoke silently.

“Nothing..Just because.”

“Aigoo.. So you work in this café..??”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

“Ya..speak well while I am being nice..Tsk..Alright, get me some books that are interesting, I am bored.”

This guy. What does he think of himself ordering people around..? Winni grabbed onto all the books that she thinks are interesting and slammed them in front of him. He opened each book and tossed them back.

“What..?Aren’t there any books with pictures in them? I told you to bring something interesting not these thick books with only millions of letters.”

Is he for real.?? Who the hell differentiate books based on pictures.?

Sighing, Winni pulled out a book from bottom of pile and placed it in front of him.

“The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane..?? What is this.?? It’s a kid’s book. Do I look like a kid for you..??”

“You want a book with lots of pictures in it and this book is really good. It’s my favorite book too.”

“Oh really.?? Then I will take a look at it. What is the story about any way?”

“It’s about finding true love.” There was a tiny smile on her lips. She believe in all those fairytales.?? She is so…pure. A complete silence was wrapped around them with only their eyes locked with each other. They were in their own world until it was broke by a buzzing ringtone.

“Yes..Come to Café Universe. I am there. OK fine.” Fishing out his I phone X, Kai spoke to his driver.

Ending the call, he stood up placing couple of bills and looked down at Winni, who was nervously clenching her hands.

“I have to go. Tell your sajang that I am taking this book and you can keep the change. See you in the school.”

Saying that Kai left the place; while Winni just sat there, dazed. What did just happen..??

The finals came and went, every one tried, they seriously did, but they were somewhere around pass and fail. It was their last day of school before the winter vacations start and to every one’s amazement, Fab6 had decided to have their lunch in the school cafeteria. It wasn’t like cafeteria wasn’t good enough for them, hell it even looks like some kind of 7 star restaurants. The whole place was silent when Chanbaek walked towards the table where Winni, Lay and Chen were sitting. Chen was about to stuff his face with his lunchbox when Lay dropped his spoon, suddenly conscious about his surroundings.

“Can we sit here.?” Chanyeol was the one who spoke, facing Chen. Chen slowly nodded his head and it was cue for them to spring forward. Seeing the Sana dragged the rest while Yoona was so excited to sit with Lay, pushing D.O away who was about to sit beside him. Having no choice, D.O sat beside Sana. Yoona, Lay, Chen, Chanyeol and Baekhyun were sitting together while D.O, Sana, Kai, Winni, Sehun sat in their opposite. Ignoring the stares they were getting from all sides, the group was fairly having their own time. Chatting, laughing, and cracking jocks. Pushing the lunchboxes away, Kai offered to treat his entire group for lunch. Everyone grabbed their favorite food from the different cuisines served. Kai walked to the wending machine and bought three bottles strawberry yogurt for the girls and chocolate yogurt for the boys. He gave everyone their drinks and finally put down a strawberry yogurt in front of Winni.

“Sorry but I can’t have this drink. Thank you.”

“But why.??” Even before Kai can ask further, Sehun offered to exchange his drink with her which she gladly accepted. She just pushed away his drink but accepted immediately when Sehun offered? Why does he feel rejected. ??

Sensing the awkwardness, Baek bought up the topic about their holidays and plans about their trips. Soon the conversation turned light and everyone had fun. Right after the school, Kai and Baek disappeared. Turns out, Kim Kai and Byun Baekhyun, being the future heirs, were dragged by their parents to a business trip to Japan. Oh how they hate it, but he can’t say no to their grandfather’s orders. And he had to leave Sana, all alone on the most important day, making her all gloomy and sulky. Sana was waiting for her driver to come pick her up when a Lamborghini pulled in front of her. She looked up with her pouty face to find D.O, rolling down his car glass.

“Want a ride back home..?”

The car journey was silent, too silent for D.O’s liking. Sana was staring out, with a furrow on her face.

“So..Mind telling me what’s bothering you..??” getting no reply, he spoke again.

“Ok fine if you don’t want to tell me. But let’s have some sweet to get you out of your sour mood. How about Baskin-Robbins..??” when Sana slowly nodded her head, he twisted his steering, zooming to the ice cream café.

He bought Mint chocolate chip for Sana and a Pralines n cream for himself. Placing it in front of her, he sat in the opposite seat and spoke.

“ So..maybe you can open up now..?”

“It’s just..Kai left without a goodbye.”

Sighing, D.O spoke back “you can always make a call.”

“But that’s not the thing. He forgot about the most important day. He forgot about my dongsaeng birthday. He forgot about Byun Miri’s birthday. How can he..?? Now who is gonna celebrate her birthday with me.?”

So it’s all about her sister’s birthday..?? But why did Kai forget about such important day..??

“OK fine..don’t need to get all sulky and whiny. I will be there. I will celebrate your dongseang’s birthday with you. Is it fine with you..??”

When Sana nodded her head, he immediately left to buy a cake for the birthday girl or maybe a present to. When he got back, they both left the café and drove to Sana’s mansion. It was his first time at Sana’s place and it was fairly huge. Her butler opened the door, welcoming both of them and the first thing he saw were the balloons and decoration all over the place.

“Where is Miri..??”

“She is in the Backyard, waiting for you Miss Sana. We have arranged everything except the cake.”

"Don't worry, we bought one.” Replied D.O, holding onto the cake. The butler took it from his hands and guided them to the backyard. That place was filled with even more balloons. Sana called out her sister’s name when suddenly someone jumped onto her, pulling her down to floor. There she was, on the floor and a Samoyed her face. Wait a minute, Samoyed..?? As in a Dog..?? WHAT THE HOLY CHICKEN NUGGETS..?? that dog was wearing a party hat, ‘happy birthday’ written on it. So the so called dongsaeng, Byun Miri, is a dog..? D.O stood there, eyes huge and mouth agape, dumbfounded.

“Happy birthday Miri-aa…look who came for your birthday..it’s D.O oppa..go and greet him.”

D.O snapped out when Miri came and hugged his legs, all the way barking cutely. Chuckling, he bent down taking the dog into his hands, giving it enough access to his face. Soon the party began and D.O, Sana and their Butler Lee began singing happy birthday to Miri, who sat comfortably in Sana’s lap. Sana gifted a beautiful dog color, written Miri in gold. After a while,D.O and Sana sat beside each other, enjoying the birthday cake. The small smile on D.O’s lips didn’t leave, gazing at the Byun’s daughter.

“You know what.? I actually thought that Byun Miri is your sister.”

“She IS my sister.” Sana retorted back, holding Miri close to her.

“I know I know” he replied, chuckling. “But she turned out to be someone I really didn’t expect her to be.”

“I understand. Miri is a secret from my parents. Them being on business trips all the time helped me to have her with me. Actually Miri was a lost puppy. You don’t know how vulnerable she was when I first found her all drenched in rain.” She furrowed concern evident in her eyes, recalling the horrible state of her baby.

“When I tried to find the owner, I got to know that he passed away and this poor thing is all alone. So I decided to adopt her. I was about to revel about her to Kai but that idiot of my boyfriend left me without a word.”

“So that means I am once again the only one who knows about your secret..??”

“Unfortunately Yes and you are not allowed to tell anyone.”

“Sure.” He smiled. A comfortable silence wrapped around them for a while until D.O stood up and reached for his bag.

“What is it?”

“As I told you, I didn’t expect Miri to be a..”

A sharp pointing look from Sana made his swallow the word ‘dog’. Oops..Sensitive.

“Anyway I bought her a gift which I think she will not like it anymore. So you take it instead.” Saying that he pulled out a small box, wrapped in a beautiful gift wrap. Letting Miri down, Sana opens the box. It was a snow globe and inside were a couple, holding each other. When she twisted the key, they moved around giving the feel as if they were dancing in snow. Sana smiled wide D.O felt warm for being the reason behind it.

“Woah..Its soo pretty. I really wanted to have one of these. Thank you Thank you sooooo much.” She sprung forward , hugging him to death. It would be a lie of he say he wasn’t dumbfounded. He awkwardly hugged her back, chuckling how childish she became. He couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. This is completely a new face of Sana. First, at the orphanage and now, treating a dog like a family. The Oh-So-y Sana is hiding her true self behind a mask and he is glad to be the one to see through it.
