“First thing is first. Introduce yourself, how old you are, your race, and what language or languages you speak!” the President says to the girls.
“Me first!” Chaerin announces and all the girls look at her. “Annyeong! My name is Kwon Chaerin. I am 15. I was born on the 6th of July in 1997. I am half American – lived in Oklahoma in the States for a while – a quarter Korean and a quarter Scottish. I speak fluent English, Korean and I am learning Japanese at the moment. Please take care of me!”
“Very nice. Who’s next?” the President asks, looking at the remaining girls.
“I guess I’ll go next,” Anastasia says more to him than the girls. “Annyeong haseyo, everyone. My name is Anastasia Hwang. I am 19 in Korea and 18 internationally. I was born on October 31st of the year 1993. I am half Korean, a quarter Greek, and a quarter Italian. I speak English fluently, Korean fluently, Italian fluently and a little bit of Greek. Please take care of me as well.”
“Good, good. How about you, Ae Sook?” the President smiles at the girl closest to him. She smiles slightly and nods.
“Annyeong haseyo! I’m Bae Ae Sook. I was born on the 31st of December in 1996 so I am…16. I am half Korean and half Japanese. I speak Japanese and Korean and some basic English. Please treat me well~!”
“I’ll go next,” EunMi says before the President can speak up, “I am Sang EunMi. I was born on September 10th in the year 1996. I am 16. I am half American and half Korean. I speak Korean and English – the basics – and I speak some Japanese. Take care of me!”
“Vizio? Seung Me?” the President looks at the two remaining girls.
“I’ll go next,” Seung Me announces, raising her hand in the air. “I am the one and only Seung Me. Jung Seung Me. I am 15 internationally, but 16 here. I am Chinese and Korean. I speak only Korean but I am learning Mandarin and know a good amount of it already. Treat me well and look after me, please~!”
The President looks at Vizio, who looks a bit lost. He forgot she doesn’t speak much Korean. In his broken Cantonese, he speaks directly to her, “Vizio. Did you understand them?”
She looks at him and responds, “Yeah. I think. That is Ae Sook, Anastasia, Chaerin, EunMi, me and Seung Me. Right? I’m the oldest, too, right?”
The President nods to her. “Correct. Your Korean has improved.”
She replies in Korean, “Neh. I have been practicing a lot lately. I'm Vizio. I am Chinese. Born the 22nd of February in 1993. I speak Mandarin and Cantonese and am learning Korean. My Korean is bad."
“Now,” the President looks at each girl and leans back in his seat, “We need to decide positions, stage names, the group name, et cetera.”
Chaerin is the first to speak again, “I was thinking of going by ‘Zoe’, my American name, but I am going to stick to plain old Chaerin.”
“Zoe? As in…with a ‘Z’?” Vizio asks in English, a bit of Korean, and a bit of Mandarin. She slurred her languages together. Luckily, Chaerin knows what she said.
“Neh. Zoe with a Z,” she says in Korean, nodding at Vizio. “Wae?”
Simple Korean. Easy for Vizio. “I love the letter ‘z’!”
Chaerin chuckles and looks at the President, “So, are you going to choose the positions…or us?”
“JunSeong and I will. We want each of you to sing, then rap, then dance. We will them decide. We know each one of your talents individually, but we need to make sure.”
“Do I go first?” Chaerin asks, pointing at herself.
“If you want to, Chaerin-ah.”
“Ok then!” Chaerin nods and takes a deep breath. “As for the dance part, though, can EunMi do it with me? We both practice together, so we know each other routines.”
“What are you going to sing, Chaerin-ssi?” Seung Me asks, looking at the girl.
“Change by Hyuna. I love that song!” Chaerin smiles.
“Can I rap Junhyung’s part? Please?” Seung Me asks, using aegyo.
Chaerin nods, “Sure! Do you know the dance?”
Seung Me shakes her head, “I haven’t learned it yet.”
“Ok. That’s fine. Come up here to our stage and we can perform!” Chaerin smiles wide, standing up and walking to the empty spot in front of the window that she was referring to as her ‘stage’. Seung Me follows her and Chaerin poses, nudging Seung Me to do the same.
Chaerin started rapping and singing to Hyuna’s ‘Change’. She dances the routine she knows and adds her own moves and poses to the performance while Seung Me sways slightly until her part comes up. She raps her part and sings along with Chaerin on the chorus once.
After finishing the performance, Chaerin smiles and the girls clap and the President nods, writing things down on a piece of paper in front of him.
Seung Me bows and thanks Chaerin for letting her share the performance. Seung Me goes to sit down and Chaerin motions EunMi to come up there.
“Do any of you know the dance or song for ‘Run Devil Run’?” EunMi asks, getting into position.
JunSeong, being able to speak Mandarin and knowing Vizio didn’t understand what EunMi asked, explains to her. No one had really paid attention to their manager until he spoke up to Vizio. Vizio stared at him. JunSeong was a rather handsome man. He was from Chinese decent as well and was part Korean. He has a strong jaw line, making his features seem manly; he has a tan and black hair that is cut into a short, stylish cut.
Anastasia and Seung Me notice the manager, too, while the others girls think to their selves.
“T-Thank you for e-explaining!” Vizio says. “Can you tell them I know ‘Run Devil Run’?”
He nods and turns to the girls, “She knows it and will dance and sing if you want her to.”
“I’ll do it, too!” Yoo Sawng stands up.
“Me, too!” Anastasia and Seung Me say together, one raising their hand (Seung Me) and the other standing (Anastasia).
“I guess I will, too. Can I take Taeyeon-ssi’s part? I only know hers and Jessica’s.” Ae Sook stands as well, smiling sweetly.
“Ok! Ae Sook is Taeyeon. I will take Hyoyeon-ssi’s part. EunMi unnie is Yoona and Sunny. Who does Vizio-ssi want to be? Seung Me-ssi, who are you? Anastasia unnie, who are you?” Chaerin asks, looking at each girl directly.
JunSeong asks Vizio and she responds to Chaerin, “Tiffany and Jessica.”
“I’ll be Sooyoung,” Anastasia says, standing by Chaerin.
“I can be Yuri,” Seung Me says, standing on the other side of Anastasia.
Luckily the room was big enough for a performance like this, too. Chaerin nods and takes in all the information. “Can I be Seohyun-ssi, then?” Chaerin asks the girls.
“Sure. Can you sing like that?” Anastasia asks, making sure she was standing in her right position.
“She can sing well, but she prefers rapping,” EunMi answers for Chaerin.
“A cappella?” Chaerin asks the girls. Vizio nods, taking her position. At least she understood that.
“I’m good with that,” Ae Sook smiles at the younger girl, nodding her head slightly.
“Ready, President-ssi?” Chaerin says loudly as if the man was deaf.
JunSeong chuckles and the President nods, crossing his arms.
The girls take position. A couple of them weren’t so sure if they knew the dance exactly, but they trusted themselves well enough to continue. These 6 girls are going to attempt to perform ‘Run Devil Run’ without first seeing how they all perform together. There is one good thing about this song though, each girl has learned the routine and practiced a lot to it.
Vizio starts off singing and the girls start dancing. Soon, Seung Me starts singing, and then EunMi, followed by Ae Sook, Seung Me again and then Anastasia and Chaerin. The girls started singing the chorus. Ae Sook needs to compete with Taeyeon’s voice for the part in the chorus where she sings. She sings just as good, if not better than Taeyeon when singing the part. Three girls had to sing that same part during the song: Ae Sook, Vizio and lastly, Chaerin. Each girl performed that part stunningly.
After the performance, both the President and JunSeong clapped and are smiling wide. Each girl was thinking something.
Vizio: Wow! That was fun! I really like these girls! I hope we all can be close friends…if only I could speak better Korean.
Anastasia: OMG! They all sing so good! Seung Me is actually good…for a weird kid.
Seung Me: Chaerin is good. Vizio and Ae Sook are amazing! Anastasia and EunMi are good, too. I wonder if I measure up to them.
EunMi: Vizio and Ae Sook are so amazing! They should be the main vocals. Anastasia is a good dancer. Seung Me needs to be a main rapper or something…hmm…
Ae Sook: Uwah~ They are all amazing! I hope I did good.
Chaerin: I’m sticking to rapping. I mean…I guess I was okay…but…I like rapping. Vizio and Ae Sook are definitely the best singers. I wish EunMi unnie would’ve sang more. She has potential, too.
“Now,” the President says as the girls take their seats again, writing things on his paper, “we need to know what everyone’s stage names are going to be.”
