It's a rather short chapter though... 

It was so quiet, so white, and so cold.

Midnight had passed a while ago, but dawn was still several hours away. He left the twin’s house at around half past twelve, despite their insistence on him staying. Before leaving, he sent a text to Jeongmin, telling the older boy that he was on his way home. Jeongmin replied, telling to him to travel safely.

He saw no one on his way home. The people who crowded the streets during the day were huddled up cozily in their homes, protected from the chilling air and falling snow of winter. Light peeked through very few windows, signaling that most people had gone to bed.

His steps produced a rhythmic crunching as he walked across the practically untouched blanket of white. He nearly slipped a few times because of how fast he was walking in his eagerness to get home.

He must have walked for about ten minutes already, but he still wasn’t halfway to his house yet. Briefly, Minwoo wondered if he should take a shortcut through the small park that was nearby. It would save him about eight minutes, and even though the park wasn’t as well-lit as the street, there were enough lights to get by.

In the end, he chose to take the shortcut, and that decision resulted in him lying in the snow somewhere in the middle of the park. Pain throbbed in his abdomen as he stared at the set of footprints heading away from him, and white faded into red beneath him as his blood flowed freely from his wound. His breath came in tight gasps as he struggled to rise to his feet, only to collapse back to the ground as the pain became overwhelming. He needed help. He needed to call someone.

Minwoo’s phone lay several yards away, where it had been tossed when the mugger attacked the boy. Mustering up what strength he had left, Minwoo painstakingly pulled himself towards the device. The edges of his vision blurred, and his extremities were already numb with the cold and blood loss, but Minwoo pushed himself forward. His fingers were inches away from the phone now; he just needed one final heave.

One heave that he no longer had the strength for.

Exhaustion pulled at his limbs. His vision was fading, and he was so cold, he could no longer feel the pain. He was going to die here, and he wasn’t going to be found until several hours later when people started walking through the park on their way to work. Minwoo’s eyes fluttered shut, beginning to give in to the eternal sleep that crept up on him.

Something light touched his cheek, leaving a faint feeling of warmth. The sensation traveled to the back of his head, where Minwoo felt a hand lightly his hair.

He forced his eyes open, focusing on the blurry figure crouched above him. A tear involuntarily escaped as he recognized the white hair, soft brown eyes, and small mouth. The man smiled gently, his hand never straying from Minwoo’s hair.

“I didn’t want you to come this early.” The man’s eyes were filled with grief and regret, almost as though he had been the one to brutally gut Minwoo.

“H-hyung…” Minwoo croaked as a shudder wracked his body. Donghyun’s hand traveled to Minwoo’s back, rubbing small circles of comfort. Minwoo let out a small sigh at the gesture. Sleep weighed even heavier on his eyelids now, but he didn’t want to close them. Not when he could finally see Donghyun again after the man died three years ago.

To his dismay, Donghyun moved his hand over Minwoo’s eyes. “Sleep for now, Minwoo-yah,” Donghyun murmured soothingly, “I will be here when you wake up. I promise.”

At 12:47am, No Minwoo passed away with a peaceful smile.
