It was relatively quiet.

The six boys were all sitting on the floor of their room, writing on pieces of paper. Aside from the occasional question about a question or when one of them wanted to comment on another’s answer, the only sound was the scratching of pen on paper. The self-introduction form that was attached to their uniforms were rather long, ranging from simple topics such as birthdate to more complex ones like future goals.

About halfway through his self-introduction, Kwangmin glanced over at Youngmin’s paper. His twin was also still on the first page, and Kwangmin leaned over slightly to get a good look at what Youngmin had written. Reading through the section where they were supposed to list their family members, Kwangmin saw their mother’s, father’s, and little brother Hyunmin’s names, but one name was missing from the list.

“Hey, why didn’t you write my name down? I’m your brother!” Kwangmin pointed at the family section on Youngmin’s self-introduction paper. The others started laughing, wondering how Youngmin could forget to write down Kwangmin as a family member.

“Ah, that’s right.” Youngmin quickly went back and scribbled down ‘Jo Kwangmin.’

Kwangmin retreated as the laughter died into occasional chuckles. His eyes fell to the family section on his own paper, where ‘Jo Youngmin’ was the first name he had written. A black hole appeared in his stomach, everything out and leaving a cold shell behind.

He was probably being sensitive, but a nagging thought always appeared in his head and told him that maybe, just maybe, Youngmin wishes he didn’t have a twin brother.

The six of them were squished into one couch as cameramen set up their equipment for a recording, which would be titled ‘Boyfriend Summer Vacation Event.’ Youngmin was looking forward to answering their fans’ questions since they haven’t spoken to their fans for a while.

Once the cameras were ready, Donghyun started the recording. “I’m your Boyfriend!” he declared energetically. The group quickly bowed in unison as they said hello to their fans. Without further ado, they started answering the fans’ questions.

The recording was going smoothly. They answered the questions, cracked the occasional joke, and were overall enjoying themselves. Then, a new question popped up, and Youngmin immediately knew how he was going to answer.

Who would you choose as partners if Boyfriend made sub-units?

Jeongmin considered the question for a moment before choosing Kwangmin. Immediately after, Kwangmin chose Jeongmin. Youngmin wasn’t particularly disappointed to hear that, knowing full well that they wouldn’t be attached at the hip just because they are twins.

However, Youngmin would still stand by his decision. When it was his turn to answer, he barely hesitated before declaring that he would choose Kwangmin as his subunit partner. The other members made various noises of acknowledgment and were unsurprised by Youngmin’s choice in partner. Out of the corner of his eye, Youngmin saw Kwangmin squeeze his eyes shut and make a face.

Youngmin’s heart plummeted. He hadn’t expected Kwangmin to jump for joy. He wasn’t even surprised that Kwangmin had an exasperated look on his face when Youngmin chose him. Yet, there was a black hole in his stomach, everything out and leaving a cold shell behind.
