Meanwhile, the man continued. "The conclave is destroyed. Everyone who attended is dead. Except for you." He had come to stand directly in front of her, next to the woman. For the first time Sola could clearly see his face. Not even the scars adorning it could change the fact that the man was handsome. Beautiful, even. Though circumstances had made him rather intimidating (or was he just intimidating in general?), Sola could not deny the beauty of the man in front of her.
His words, on the other hand, were a bit… less appealing.
"You think I did it." The statement escaped her tongue before she was even able to think of it properly. "You… Do you think I'm responsible?"
The man grabbed her left hand harshly, and this time Sola was unable to contain the painful groan. As if responding to foreign touch, her hand flared with green again. "Explain this."
"Ugh I can't!" She said, panting. "I don't know what's happening to me! I don't remember what happened to me, I just woke up a few minutes ago to find this… whatever this is."
"What do you mean you can't!?"
"I don't know what that is. I don't know how I got it. I don't know anything." She stressed on the last word, eyes meeting his, glaring with defiance. She might've been chained and defenseless, but she would not tolerate foolish intimidation tactics. They were an insult to her wits. Couldn't they have spared someone more intelligent to interrogate her?
As if reading her mind, the man demonstrated just how much of a fool he was. "You're lying!"
The hooded woman came closer, putting a hand on the man's shoulder. Her face was much paler in contrast to the male, almost as pale as Sola's elvish complexion, and her full lips were formed into a frown. "We need her, Haneul." Her voice once again contrasted the male's – while his was raspy and worn, hers was melodic, soothing, almost gentle. It reminded her of Divine Seona, the same calm, soothing tone that –
