Bang Yongguk
FlashlightFour hours into reading his textbook and Yongguk gave up, falling sleep on the pages that he were reading, with his arms folded under his head for comfort. Taking a chance and heading to the place where Chaerin had seen him the first time, Chaerin found Yongguk sound asleep on the third floor of the library. Careful not to disturb Yongguk, Chaerin quietly pulled out the chair next to him and sat down, observing his face as he sleep.
Not wanting to wake him up yet, she gently pulled out his notebook from under his text book and began doodling in it, drawing a little girl holding up two pom poms in the air and adding a little note, ‘You’re almost there! The school year is almost over, don’t give up!’
Chaerin picked up the notebook and was ready to close it when a small polaroid photo slipped out. Picking it up and observing it, Chaerin felt a wave of pain in her chest as her heart started pounding hard against her; it was the same feeling she felt when she opened up the card that was for her mother. In the picture, there was Yongguk with a girl, one arm around her shoulder holding her close and one arm holding the camera to take the picture. Both happily smiling at the camera.
“Hey,” Yongguk called out as he slowly opened his eyes to see Chaerin and stirred up, surprising Chaerin as she quickly hid the picture behind her, pretending to scratch her back and placing his notebook down. “Hey, you’re up.”
“How long have you been sitting here?” he asked, fully awake now as he leans back to stretch his arms.
“I just got here,” she lied, hoping he wouldn’t caught on like how he had always did, “it was slow so they let me off early today.”
“Ready to go home?” he suddenly stood up and began packing his things, allowing Chaerin the perfect second to slip the photo into her back pocket.
