Lee Chaerin
FlashlightAs I approached my house, the same car was parked outside again. Without thinking, I jumped my neighbor’s fence into their yard, grabbed their kid’s baseball bat, jumped back out, and walked towards the man and my mom who was now hugging.
“Mom,” I tried my best to hold myself together as they let go of each other, startled, and turned to face me. My heart was pounding, tears threatening to spill out any moment, and my grip on the bat was getting tighter and tighter.
“C-Chaerin-ah, I-I thought you were in your room?” she stuttered as she eye the baseball bat in my hand.
“Where's dad, mom?" as much as I hate to see what would happen if my dad was here right now, I wanted him here so I wouldn't have to face this all on my own, "What are you guys doing?”
“I-It’s not what you think, your mother wasn’t feeling well so I was just visiting her,” the man’s voice too, stuttered.
“Yeah? With a hug, a kiss, and a stack of cash? Does dad know you’re sick, mom? And what about you? Does your wife know you’re going around healing women who has a husband with hugs and kisses and cash?” And without me seeing it coming, my own mother, who has never laid her hands on me, slapped me hard across the face, making all the tears I was holding in spill out.
“Watch what you’re saying, young lady! You may not talk like that! Show some respect!”
“Show some respect to who?! You?! The man you’re having an affair with here?! What about dad?! Why don’t you show him some respect?! You’re his wife, you’re my ing mom for god’s sake!”
“Don’t talk to your mother like that!” the man raised his voice at me. And I lost it, everythin
