Chapter 8.
The Lost Paradise“It’s always Dongwoo. Can’t she see me? I’m here too.” Myungsoo pouted.
Sungyeol sighed. Can’t you see me, then? He wanted to say, but decided against it. He always knew that Myungsoo treated him nothing but as a friend, and he didn’t mind. But he couldn’t stop feeling his heart breaking every time the said person declared his jealousy over Dongwoo hogging Yunhee all to himself.
Hoya was probably the only one who knew about his crush on his best friend, but the mind reader was thoughtful enough not to tell anyone. And Sungyeol was grateful for it; because well, if Myungsoo were to know then their friendship would be over. And Sungyeol wouldn’t be able to take it. He would probably have to leave the coven then.
“Yah, Yeol, were you listening?” Myungsoo nudged him. Sungyeol snapped out of his daze and stared at Myungsoo blankly.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing. Was just sleeping with my eyes opened.” Sungyeol blurted. “What did you say again?”
“I said, isn’t it time for you to water your garden? Woohyun hyung is back from the patrol.”
“Right.” Sungyeol stood up. “I’ll go look for him.”
He was about to move away when Myungsoo’s hand gripped his wrist.
“You sure you’re okay?” Myungsoo asked, his face was genuinely concerned. Sungyeol blinked before giving him a sincere smile.
“Yeah, I am fine. Don’t worry, Myung.” Sungyeol told him. I’ll be fine as long as you’re by my side. As long as you’re happy.

“I’m hungry.” Myungsoo plopped beside Sungyeol, casually resting his head on the choding vampire’s shoulder. Sungyeol tried to ignore the fluttery feeling in his stomach.
“Want some blood?” Sungyeol offered.
“Nah, don’t move.” Myungsoo replied. “Let me rest a while.”
“Hmm. Where have you been?”
“Out. I was accompanying Yunhee to the cliff.” Myungsoo answered, not noticing how Sungyeol flinched slightly.
The tall vampire sighed before standing up, startling Myungsoo. The latter was about to pout but he noticed that Sungyeol was going towards the refrigerator.
“Here.” Sungyeol handed Myungsoo a glass of blood. Before Myungsoo could say anything, he left the living room without looking back.
*
What are these…? Sungyeol weakly thought as the flashes of memories appeared in his head. How come I never remembered any of these?

“Yeollie.” Myungsoo knocked. He didn’t receive any response, so he invited himself in anyway.
Sungyeol was reading a book on the bed. He didn’t even look up when Myungsoo called his name.
“Yeol?”
“Hmm?”
“What’s wrong?”
“What is there to be wronged?”
Myungsoo sighed. “You know, you are not behaving like yourself… You are reading.”
“I feel like reading.” Sungyeol retorted. “There’s nothing else to do anyway.”
“Why don’t you spend some time with me rather than re
