~Fourteen~

My pain, My comfort

H

A continuous beep was all that could be heard.

It was annoying.

Very annoying.

Chanyeol furrowed his brows in his sleep slowly opening his eyes and stretching his limbs. A few seconds later a young women's voice was heard.

"Omo! He's awake!"

The shuffling of feet was heard and the sound of wires being ripped and replaced.

The steady beeping of the monitors was still heard.

Where...?

The sudden waft of disinfectants determined Chanyeol's setting.

The hospital.

"Can you sit up?" A nurse said peering down at him.

Chanyeol nodded his head a little before sitting up slowly wincing in pain with every inch he moved.

"Don't rush yourself," she said helping him up.

"What happened?"

"You had a few bullets in your body. It's a miracle how you survived that!"

"Oh..." He said monotoned. The memories processed slowly in Chanyeol's head but eventually he remembered. "Baekhyun..."

"Sorry?"

"Byun Baekhyun!" Chanyeol said turning to the nurse abruptly. "Is he alive? Did he get treatment too? Please tell me he's here,"

The nurse bit her lip looking away. Chanyeol's heart dropped.

"I'm sorry. The other two... They... They didn't survive... The funeral also... Was a few days ago..."

There was a long dreading silence.

"I... I want to be left alone." Chanyeol murmured staring down at his lap.

"But we still need to run tests and-"

"Please."

The nurse paused for a moment deciding before nodding and leaving the room giving him one last sorrowful glance.

For days Chanyeol was silent. He barely talked when the doctors and nurses came to check up on him. When he was conscious, he'd wish to be alone and just stare into blank space, and when he was asleep, he'd whimper and cry out.

Once, he was let out to visit their grave. He placed flowers on the twos grave and prayed but he spent most of the time crying his heart out...

Then, the day came when he was discharged.

He spent no less than two hours at home resting before going out.

He got out of his house, about to go visit Baekhyun and Baekbeom in their resting place but then someone stopped him.

"Yixing?"

"I just wanted to see you, I'm sorry for your loss Park Chanyeol. Going to visit them?"

Chanyeol hummed in reply.

"I see... Well, I'm targetted now."

"You are?"

"Yes. I killed them. Mr Kim. Ran a blade into his stomach and shot a bullet in the middle of his brows."

"You say it so casually."

"Well, it's been done so... But I have no regrets." Yixing smiled then turned away, "I'd better get going. You too, go pay a visit to those two, give them my regards."

Chanyeol nodded and then the two parted into their separate ways...

And after that, he'd go visit the cemetary every single day and mourn for his loved ones...

For three months.

Three months he had been visiting the place.

Everyday he'd come and clean the two stones. They were the most clean out of all the stones in the cemetery.

He'd sit for hours cleaning and conversing with the two stones.

But one of the two stone he cleaned and took care of the most.

The caretaker admired his determination. Three months ago he'd come to visit even though back then he was on a wheelchair all bandaged up.

Normally those who visited only came for about one to three weeks before they moved on, forgot about the dead.

But Park Chanyeol was different.

He'd never forget what happened.

Never.

It haunted him. The last scene he had shared with Byun Baekhyun.

He never thought that Baekhyun would leave him like that at all.

He wanted their last moments to count, to be beautiful, he wanted to sleep before his beloved, but it was the other way.

"Baekhyun, Hyung," Chanyeol called placing white buds on both their resting places. "How are you today?"

Only the freezing wind responded, giving him a cold, sympathetic embrace.

"I didn't keep my promise." And again. Everyday he'd say the same sentence. For the past three months. "I failed to protect you, to make sure no one was hurt... I'm sorry."

He Baekhyun's gravestone.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry." He cried over and over again.

And only the cold Januaury breeze accompanied him, mourning with him.

The cycle repeated. For three months it was like he was stuck in time, going to the grave, repeating the same things at the same time of day...

Like always, an hour passed before he calmed down. He stared blankly at the two stones now.

He was trapped in a heavy silence.

Not that he was complaining though, he liked it, he deserved it, he murdered the one person he loved...

It was all his fault.

It always was...

A hooded figure roamed the grounds searching for one person.

Where are you Park Chanyeol?

It was hard to search for him. The hooded figure had to keep his head down so people wouldn't see his face.

He would've been in big trouble if he was seen.

He was famous now. Every one knew his face, his height, his background, everything.

They were searching for him, everywhere.

Because he murdered the CEO that everyone respected.

The figure pulled his coat around him more securely. It was getting colder by the second.

He looked around and finally sighted the one he was looking for.

He made his way over joyfully almost forgetting that he was wanted.

Chanyeol sat staring blankly at the patch of grass between the two stones.

There was a ladybug there, running in circles aimlessly.

Chanyeol watched it blankly reminiscing the last scene.

And for the first time in three months someone approached him.

"Park Chanyeol?" It was the hooded figure.

Chanyeol turned to face him. He gave him a look raising his brow.

The other smiled checking their surroundings before pulling his hood down.

"How are you? It's been a long time, Park." He took his seat beside the other.

"Yixing?"

"Yeah."

"Put your hood back on. If your seen then-"

"I know, but still. It's been three months since I last saw you."

"True. I'm still surprised that you killed them,"

"Them? I only killed father."

"You did? Then what about-"

"I've been with him these past few months. Suho Hyung's been taking care of me and Luhan-ge. We faked his death."

"But what about the assault? Has he stopped?"

"Kind of. Well... Not really, when he gets mad then he becomes a little violent. But it's okay since Lu-ge threatens to murder him when he hurts me."

"Oh."

"Anyway, Chanyeol, I didn't come here to reunite. I've quite a lot to say."

"Go on then," Chanyeol sighed shifting his gaze back onto Baekhyun's grave.

"When you... Were discharged from the hospital... What did they say about... The two?"

"I don't wanna remember Yixing, don't remind me plea-"

"It's urgent."

Chanyeol paused for a bit before speaking. "They told me that they were dead."

"Was that it?"

"And that I missed the funeral..."

"And?"

"And that I was lucky I survived."

"Oh... What about Kyungsoo?"

"He said the same." Chanyeol said before quickly adding, "I thought he'd be really upset but he hardly reacted to the news."

"They had their top three surgeons treat all three of you right?"

"Yes."

"Park Chanyeol." Yixing said. "Have you ever once dug up their graves to see whether their bodies were in there or not?"

"What? No! How could I? That's unforgivable!"

"Have you ever tried to see whether their bodies were in there or not? Don't you find it the least bit suspicious? I mean, their top three surgeons?"

"No! What are you talking about? I'd never do something like that! To dig out someone's grave! I-" he paused briefly. "Wait. Suspicious? What's going on?"

"We haven't been sitting around doing nothing for the past three months like you Chanyeol,"

Yixing smiled fumbling through his pockets before getting out a piece of paper.

"Take it." He said throwing the folded paper to Chanyeol. "I'm taking my leave. It was nice meeting you, Chanyeol."

He bowed before pulling his hood up and running away.

Chanyeol furrowed his brows opening the paper.

Inside was his address. His home back in the country.

What has this got to do with anything?

.

.

.

Guess it wouldn't hurt paying a visit to that old place right?

He ended up at Kyungsoo's.

It started to rain just a few minutes ago.

"Tea? Coffee?" Kyungsoo said leading him into the kitchen.

"It's fine Kyungsoo," Chanyeol sighed.

"You've come here to mourn again didn't you?" Kyungsoo smiled pouring the taller a glass of water. "The rain's not calming down either."

"I don't get it." Chanyeol said. "Yixing came to me and gave me my own address."

Kyungsoo paused for a small moment before a small smirk came to his lips.

But Chanyeol failed to see it.

"You all were lucky I saw Baekhyun and some other man behind the mansion."

"I'm forever grateful Soo." Chanyeol said taking the glass and draining it's contents.

"If I hadn't called the cops then who knows what would've happened."

"Wait, when they got there, they saw the..." There was a small pause, "The three of us... And Mr Kim all knocked out right?"

"Yeah, Yixing fled after killing Mr Kim and Kim Suho was said to have been shot and that his body fell off a bridge plunging into the Han river." Kyungsoo said entwining his fingers as he rested them on the table.

"Yixing came to me today. He started saying strange things."

"Strange things?"

"Yeah. Something about digging their graves up and searching for their bodies and about something suspicious..."

"He's probably gone mad."

"He didn't seem mad at all."

"Murdering someone can trigger things Chanyeol, they may be hard to spot but still,"

"You're probably right."

"But I think you should go and visit your old place,"

"I was planning to go tomorrow,"

"Good. The sooner the better."

"Why? Is there something wrong?"

"Nope. Everything's fine. You'll know when you get there." Kyungsoo smiled staring deep into Chanyeol's eyes...

The next morning came, Chanyeol decided to pay the house a visit after so long. He packed a few things deciding to occupy the place for a week or two.

He walked out of the house deciding to take public transport to the place even though it was longer, but he wasn't in any rush so he took his time.

About an hour or two later he was at the town buying a few things like food for his stay.

He spent no more than an hour at the town. It was past noon now and he made his way to the house.

He came to the front doors staring up at the old place.

"I'm home," he said dryly fumbling through his pockets for the keys before opening the door.

He set his luggage to one side before closing the doors behind him. He noticed a few pair of shoes scattered around.

He furrowed his brows and walked into the lounge, there were things scattered around the place like blankets cushions and lots of things Chanyeol had never seen before. He tilted his head.

Is someone... Living here?

He heard the back door slide open.

"Honey tea right?" Someone said, a male.

"Yeah," was the small reply also from a man.

"I'll make it for you," the first person said brightly.

Chanyeol knew the voice from somewhere but he couldn't remember exactly where.

He made his way to the kitchen door placing his hand on the handle. But he didn't open it just yet because the cheery one started to talk.

"Hyung... Will we ever go back home?"

"I thought you liked it here,"

"I do... But..." There was a sigh, "I miss him."

"Well, we faked our death. It would be kinda stupid and horrible of us to step back into his life."

"That's true. But what if he comes here all of a sudden?"

"I don't think that would happen."

"Hyung. I really want to see him again,"

"I know it's hard on you Baek."

Baek?

It can't be...

No, there's more than one Baek out there...

"You're lucky you have Ski noona, where is she anyway?"

"Out. Work."

"Oh. Your tea's ready by the way."

Footsteps entered the veranda.

Chanyeol held his breath.

He couldn't open the door. He just listened quietly. After thinking for a while, Chanyeol decided to leave.

His hand left the door and he walked to the front door picking his luggage up.

But just when he was about to open the door an leave someone tapped his shoulder from behind.

"Don't leave!" They said. "Don't you dare leave."

Chanyeol turned around to see a wheelchair with a young man sitting on it. He had a cup of tea in his hands.

"Hy-Hyung!?" Chanyeol said shocked.

The other smiled.

"Tell me I'm not dreaming." Chanyeol whispered.

"You're not, Park Chanyeol," the other giggled. Reaching an arm out to hug the other.

"I... But... But you were de-" Chanyeol stuttered as he gently embraced the other.

"Dead yes I know. I wasn't. It was all fake."

"Fake? Why?"

"So that Mr Kim's men don't come looking for us."

"O-oh... Hyung I'm sorry I'm finding it so hard to believe all this." Chanyeol said. "I still think I'm dreaming."

"Aish this child," Baekbeom said a pin from his pocket and pricking Chanyeol with it.

"Ow! What was that for?" Chanyeol said jumping back.

"You don't feel pain when you're dreaming. You felt that didn't you?"

Chanyeol nodded.

"Exactly."

"Wait but... Hyung." Chanyeol said quietly.

"Yeah?"

"Are you... Okay? I mean..." He motioned to the wheelchair Baekbeom was sitting on.

"I'm fine! I'm fine! Gosh Park, stop making me feel bad."

"Sorry."

"The surgeon guy said my spine was effected. So I can't really move properly. He said over time it'll get worse to the point where I become fully paralysed."

"Hyung I'm so sorry I-"

"It's not your fault child, things like this happen. Beside, right now I can still move about. I'm hoping to have children before I become paralysed. They need to help Ski out when I can't."

"I don't know what to say to that."

"You have your luggage with you right?" Baekbeom said.

"Yeah." Chanyeol moved aside to show the luggage behind him.

"Stay."

"Okay."

"But I'm sorry if you hear things from my room at night." Baekbeom said wiggling his eyebrows.

"Hyung!"

"Okay, okay I'm sorry. Just giving you a fair warning gosh."

"Just like they say, 'Some things always stay the same'." Chanyeol sighed unbelievably.

"Let's go to the veranda. Someone's waiting."

"Waiting? Who?"

"You'll see," Baekbeom smiled turning away.

Chanyeol followed quietly.

"I'll wait in here. It's quite cold out there. Be quick. I don't want the two of you catching a cold."

Chanyeol nodded making his way out into the cold air.

He looked around. There was no one in sight. He furrowed his brows and waited just for another moment or two.

But nothing happened.

He was about to turn around, go back into the house but then small thin arms wrapped themselves around his waist from behind.

"I guess Lay kept his promise," a voice behind him said.

A smiled reached Chanyeol's lips and his heart began to flutter.

"I'm guessing this isn't a dream either."

"Nope, I'm here, I'm real,"

Chanyeol turned around lifting the other's head to see his face.

Tears fell from his eyes as he stared into his Angel's eyes. He was donned in Chanyeol's oversized shirt again.

"Baekhyun."

"Yes..." Baekhyun smiled wrapping his arms around the other's neck. Tears also ran delicately down his cheeks. "Welcome home Park Chanyeol,"

"I..." Chanyeol smiled as the rivers ran down his face. "I'm home."

The two came together in a chaste kiss thus putting the lid back onto the pen and ending yet another story...

~End~

I actually finished writing a story. OMFG. First time ever to have done that.

Thanks to all who have supported me in this fic. I feel like the ending could've been better though. My brain fails me, I need a new one.

In the end everyone survives...ish... Yaaay!

Well that's it. There'll be bonuses so keep an eye out!

Special thanks to my favourite dongsaeng for reading everything beforehand and helping me out. It's a shame that she doesn't have an aff account. Shud bug her into making one...

And another special thanks to everyone for just being amazingly supportive to my out-dated, slow af brain.

Kamsahamnida everyone! LOVE YOU ALL! T.T

Guess imma be going back to writing OOB now...

*still hesitating.* was pressing the 'save changes' button a good thing or not? This still doesn't feel like a last chapter to me...
