➥ rowan / her english name that she has adopted. she spent a long time deciding on an english name and figured the rowan was similar to raon. she originally went by the name joy for a while but changed it to rowan for a more sophisticated name. joy was an option because raon means "happy/joy".

as frank as she maybe with others, raon is surprisingly sensitive. not that she shows it anyway. she would rather be hurt straight up rather than be lied to. she is one that will remember things you've said to her, especially if they were hurtful. she tries not to hold grudges, yet she always finds herself holding onto the hurtful words or ill treatment she has received. when she's hurt you'll know. she gets very quiet and withdraws from the world, preferring to be left alone at times like this.
raon has a tendency to act on a whim and thus she's unpredictable. plus her secretive nature doesn't help in allowing others to know what's going on in her mind. above all, raon is competitive. whenever she's told she can't do something it immediately sparks a light in her to show them that she can indeed do what they said she couldn't do. she finds herself biting off more than she can chew often times.

+ her childhood consisted of playing with her grandfather or entertaining herself when he was too tired to play with her. given that her brother was so much older than her, they never really developed a relationship until she was in middle school because he was "too cool" for her.
+ she met junghee in art class and at first she thought that junghee was a pest who liked to involve themselves in things that didn't involve her, but with persistence from junghee, raon grew to enjoy junghee's presence
+ when the group first started to grow raon was hesitant to accept new people into her friendship circle, but with a little push from junghee and muyeol she warmed up to all of them (some more than others). she rubbed some friends the wrong way at times, but with the help of junghee and muyeol who knew her character well, she was always able to make amends.
+ high school was a tough time for her, but was enjoyable due to her friends. without her friends she doesn't know what she would have done nor where she would be. her parents were growing more and more strict and her grandfather's health was declining. when her grandfather passed her junior year of high school she relied heavily on her friends for comfort and support.
+ once her grandfather died, raon's decision to leave tongyeong was set in stone. she had always flipped flopped on leaving mainly because she didn't want to leave her grandfather behind.
+ when her parents found out that she was going to an art school they gave her an ultimatum to either quit art or be disowned. she chose the later and with the support of her friends and older brother she went to seoul to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist.
+ a week after graduating, raon left tongyeong and went to live with her brother in seoul for two years before she managed to save enough to move into a tiny rooftop studio apartment.
+ she hasn't spoken to her parents since the night she made her decision to become an artist. according to her brother, her parents ask about her every so often, but she has no intentions to making amends. or rather she had no intentions of making amends.

raon always loved to get phone calls or texts from junghee. junghee was the one she kept in contact the most with the first year in college, but due to "clashing schedules" raon slowly talked to junghee less and less. of course whenever junghee called or texted raon was quick to reply. very rarely would raon call or text junghee (only when raon was really going through some did she ever reach out to junghee because she knew that junghee was dealing with a lot herself especially with keeping in contact with the rest of their friend group), but when she did she knew junghee appreciated it.
during their time growing up raon always considered junghee to be her best friend. she was hesitant at first to become friends with junghee, but she's glad that she opened up because without junghee, raon doesn't know if she would have met all the amazing friends and people she met. raon admits that often times junghee puts more effort into their friendship than she does, but whenever junghee needs help raon is always the first to offer.

raon was always close to muyeol, but she was always the closest to junghee. the two grew significantly closer when they moved to seoul for university. muyeol had often reached out to her during their freshman year of college because he was and had come to terms with the medical field not being for him. he asked her how she was able to stand up for what she wanted and she helped him find the courage to talk to his parents. from there they often talked on the phone and occasionally met in seoul when their schedules would allow it. muyeol is normally the one reaching out for whatever reason, even as simple as "i just want to talk".

raon didn't have much of a relationship with her older brother until she was in middle school. it was really when she started to form opinions for herself was she able to connect with her older brother. her older brother is real estate agent in seoul and although they had a huge when she was younger, since entering her 20s they've slowly made up for lost time by being each other's annoying and nosy sibling. ryung helped raon out a lot, especially when he heard that they kicked her out and cut her off. he immediately opened up his apartment and funds to help his little sister out. he felt bad for not being there when she was younger. he also fells like what his parents did was extreme and has on multiple occasions spoken up about how they're in the wrong. he doesn't care much about his parents supporting him as he is well off on his own and has been well off on his own for a while now. whatever they decide to do to him to try and force a wedge between him and raon won't work.

➥ creative block and burn out / she's been struggling with a creative block for a few month now. she burned out a few weeks into the semester and since that burn out she's been struggling to recover. she paints and then repaints and then repaints again. at least she's painting some would say, but in actuality she's just making it look like she's painting. she's just slathering layer upon layer of paint onto a canvas. she's barely getting by with class projects, handing in work that she absolutely hates. at times she's hating the very thing she declared she loved so fiercely. was becoming an artist the right thing to do?
➥ financial struggles / she moved out of her brother's apartment a little less than a year ago, but it seems she might have to move back in with him. she works two jobs currently, three while she's on break, however her course materials have been more expensive than she would have imagined. she lives pay check to pay check with just enough saved in her savings in case she finds herself in the hospital. she doesn't want to ask her brother for help because he's helped her so much already and she doesn't want to let her friends know because she doesn't want to actually become a starving and struggling artist.
