Chapter 9

Jonghyun could not believe that a human had said that to him. What was that all about? He dashed after Key, jumping out of people’s way at the last second. After a few minutes of running, he found the younger sitting on a bench near the park. The grocery bags were next to him on the bench, the handles moving in the slight breeze, making the crinkling sound. Jonghyun took a few minutes to gather himself before he walked up to the younger boy,

“Key…I don’t really know what else to say except, I’m sorry, but, that was in the past, I’m here now, better late than never, right?” The younger didn’t want to look at Jonghyun, there were other children that deserve someone like him; strong and powerful. He deserved to be alone.

“Jonghyun, I’m fine on my own.” Key muttered, his hands fisted in his lap, head hung low, and his voice sounded so sad and defeated. Joghyun kneeled down,

“Can you give me a chance?” Key raised his head to look at those red orbs. This was what he wanted, no what he wished for ever since he was little, he would dream about a strong vampire as his guardian. Now, there was one kneeling right in front of him asking to be his guardian. He should say yes, but at the same time he should say no. No, because how lonely the vampire had left him, it made him feel stupid, but the most important reason was that Jonghyun was not trustworthy. By having a guardian show up to a waiting child, it shows a sign of trust and when Key was left alone, that trust immediately left, he didn’t want to trust anyone, not one human and certainly not one guardian.

“How can I trust you?” He asked the vampire. Jonghyun took Key’s hand a determined expression plastered onto his features,

“I promise-No, I will prove to you that I van and will be the best and the most trustworthy guardian, I will be there for you Key.” Key took a breath and released a heavy sigh,

Taemin has made me soft. He thought to himself.

“Fine, I will give you one chance to prove yourself.”
