Chapter 14

Guardian

Chapter 14

The next morning, Taemin and Minho were out in the market. Minho and most of the other guardians were on alert, most likely because of what Jonghyun told him the previous night.

-flashback-

Attacked, by who?” Minho wondered. “I'm not sure, I think they were crazed guardians.” Jonghyun replied in a quiet tone. Minho seemed curious, he had never heard of this before, “crazed guardians?” Minho wondered. “I think we may have a bit of trouble.” Jonghyun said again. Minho sighed, he didn't like the sound of this. He's going to need to be more vigilant and careful.

-End of flashback-

“Minho hyung, are you listening?” Taemin said bringing the guardian out of his thoughts. The vampire blinked a couple of times before he realized that Taemin was pouting in front of him, “Sorry, Taemin. I guess I was lost in thought.” He said to the human boy. The younger boy rolled his eyes and repeated, “I was saying that the six of us should go on a vacation.” Minho liked the idea. He and Taemin hadn't left Coldstone since the boys father took them on a business trip to a village outside of the kingdom. “I don't mind, but there is one problem and that's Key.” Taemin looked at Minho confused. “Key has been working late shifts at his job. Also, they were attacked last night and he may want to rest.” Taemin nodded, he knew about the attack from Minho earlier that morning. “I hope he's ok.” Taemin said sadly. Minho nodded in agreement and they continued on their way.

Back at Key's house, Jonghyun was carrying a glass of water up stairs to Keys room. Opening the door, Jonghyun entered the darkened room to find Key still sleeping. The vampire carefully set the glass of water on the nightstand and sat down on the edge of the bed. This was his second day at being Key's guardian. He still didn't feel comfortable around the human. He longed to be back home with his clan. There was something else though, he was becoming attached to the boy. He had the feelings of wanting to protect Key not because of the bet, but because he wanted to. That was another thing, he wasn't sure how long he would last. Key would either find out about the bet or he would up telling him. He wasn't sure how he was going to handle all of this. He slowly got off the bed and left the room. He needed to clear his head there were to many thoughts in his head, he needed to think. He went outside for a walk, subconsciously staying close to the house to make sure Key was not in any danger.

Key awoke with a feeling like he was hit over the head with a bunch of bricks. Looking around, he noticed a glass of water on the nightstand he reached for it and took a big gulp releasing a satisfied sigh. He put the glass back on the nightstand and immediately went back to sleep.
