Chapter 24

When Jonghyun, his father, and the king arrived to the execution field the dragon had already pinned down Onew and Minho, Taemin was clutching his arm that seemed to be twisted in an awkward position. Changmin was holding Key on his back with the guard cornering them. The king scoweled and announced his presence, “What in the world is going on here?” He demanded. The guard paled and turned around to face the king, he signaled that his dragon let go of the two vampires. The vampires immediately back off to join the king and their vampire leader, Minho making a quick side trip to get Taemin before joining the rest of the group. The king looked at the two injured humans and said, “Alright guardians stay here and get rid of these pests, I will get the human’s to the palace, where they may rest and I will get them some medical attention.” The vampires stood at the gate blocking it. The king led the humans to his castle and gave them each their own room where healers met them to help them with any injuries. “I leave them in your care.” The king said to the eldest healer. The old man nodded and continued his work.

The dragon roared angrily at the vampires and the vampires hissed and growled at the large lizard. The leader and the other vampires circled it standing their ground before pouncing clawing the scales and making the dragon fly up slightly and trying to shake them off, but the vampires were holding on tightly to the dragon. The guard was unable to do much to stop what was going on. The dragon roared painfully when Jonghyun clawed its eyes then it clawed at Jonghyun and flung him into the castle breaking the window and into a room completely unconscious. “Jonghyun!” Minho called out to the older vampire. The other vampires enraged attacked together again this time attacking the eyes just like Jonghyun did and by this point the dragon was unable to stay in one place, he flew up and roared at to the guard that seemed to be no where in sight. The vampire leader hissed, he felt sorry for the creature, “pathetic creature choosing that low life human as a protected.” The remaining vampires ran toward the castle to find their protected. As they walked into the throne room, they were greeted by the king who had found Jonghyun in the castle. The others were no doubt happy to see the other vampire alright. “I will take you to your protected now.” The king informed them. Jonghyun’s father called his son over to him. “Jonghyun, you need to tell me what happened up until this point, from what I understand you didn’t want to be a guardian or have anything to do with humans for that matter so please explain to me why you are here.”  Jonghyun sighed and started to speak, “Well, that is true, but a few days after you left, Minho and Onew came back to the clan, to see me. They were telling me about Key and how he didn’t have a guardian and how I was the only option for him. I didn’t want to do it, but then Minho, as a last effort made a bet with me that if I could be his guardian for a week then I would get to go back to the clan and he would do my hunting for a week. I agreed and found Key the next morning. I was his guardian since and I really liked it, and soon I felt the bond starting to form, but it wasn’t like Minho had described. My bond was love, I love him. I knew I had to tell him the truth and I did, but he sent me away saying he needed time to think and that’s about it, really.” Jonghyun looked at his father he could see the disappointment in his face. “Jonghyun I taught you better than to take bets…but I can see the goo intentions that Minho wanted for Key. I am also very proud of you Jonghyun, for taking that chance because something very rare and precious was born from it; a bond that is love. Many guardians and protected have only dreamed of having such a bond. You must treasure that.” Jonghyun smiled, “So you’re alright with this?” His father nodded, “of course, I’m thrilled. Now go see your protec-I mean your lover.” Jonghyun smiled and went to Key’s recovery room.
