Kyungsoo stood frozen to his spot as he stared at a dumbly grinning Junmyeon. He gave the elder a questioning look before taking a couple of slow steps towards him.

The weather was pleasantly warm that night, the sky completely clear of grey clouds, yet starless and dark at the same time. He was told that Junmyeon was waiting for him outside and that he refused to get into the house; giving some lame excuse that the maid didn’t bother to remember.

‘A surprise or whatever.’ The dark haired young maid had grumpily said; Kyungsoo shook his head and told the girl to make sure to properly remember it next time and stop rolling her eyes at him before making his way towards his childish boyfriend. When he got there however, he couldn’t help but abruptly stop to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating. Perhaps the Chamomile tea he just had was doing strange things to his mind? Well, that was unlikely, but Kyungsoo couldn’t think of anything else at the moment. Kim Junmyeon, the usually suit cladded arrogant spoiled prince, was wearing a hideous pair of khaki colored short shorts and a loose grey jumper with a pair of Nike sneakers. A dumb grin plastered all over his handsome face as he stared amusedly back at a confused Kyungsoo.

“What’s going on? I thought we were going out on a date…” The doe eyed male questioned when he was only a couple of steps away from the other. Junmyeon nodded his head in confirmation with bright eyes glimmering in the dark.

“We are.” Kyungsoo raised a brow at the unsatisfying short answer.

“Okay. Well, where’s your car? Is your driver waiting outside? You should’ve told me you were here already, I’m not properly dressed yet. Are we—”

“What you’re wearing is fine and we don’t need a car, I have something else in mind that I’m sure you’re going to like.” Junmyeon interrupted before reaching his hand to take Kyungsoo’s one and drag him towards the gate. Kyungsoo gave himself a swift once over and frowned. He was in a freaking tracksuit, where the hell was Junmyeon taking him? The dress code they had going on was weird but what was waiting for them outside the gate was even weirder.

“What the hell is that?”

“A Tandem bicycle.” Kyungsoo shot the elder a glare before fixing his gaze back on the weird green bicycle.

“I know what it’s called. I meant to say, what the hell is it doing there?”

“I’m taking you on a bicycle ride, I thought it would be much more romantic than taking you out for dinner or something equally boring.” Kyungsoo walked closer to the two-seat bicycle and couldn’t help but crack a small heart shaped smile at it.

“You’re crazy.” Junmyeon shrugged his shoulders with a silly wide grin, a perfect set of snow-white teeth exposed for Kyungsoo to stare at. That was insanely good looking and Kyungsoo couldn’t help but blush when the smug elder seemed to notice his lingering eyes on his face. He quickly averted his gaze towards the neon green bicycle, awkwardly cleared his throat and asked. “Why a Tandem bicycle though?”

“To be honest at first I just thought it would be cute,” With a soft smile, Junmyeon gestured for Kyungsoo to pick the seat he liked most. “But then when I bought the bicycle, I don’t know, I think I just thought that in some way it’ll bring us closer, look I know I’ve been rude and I always come off as an arrogant jerk, but...” The doe eyed male blinked in silence at the visibly nervous man, giving him an encouraging short nod to continue. “I acted that way because I was insecure, I honestly don’t know why or how is being rude to someone you like makes sense, but that’s what it was all about. I like you…I’ve always liked you, like…a lot. I really like you Kyungie and I’m going to do whatever it takes to make you like me back.”

“Well, you can start by never wearing those ugly indecent shorts ever again, do you think you can promise me of that?” Kyungsoo teased and Junmyeon laughed.

“You don’t like my y shorts?”

“If by liking them you mean going blind and puking in my own mouth twice, then yes. I love them.” The doe eyed male swung his right leg over the bike and sat on the back seat; waiting patiently for a dumbfounded Junmyeon to do the same.

“Thank you, really.” Junmyeon softly spoke while getting himself comfortable on his own seat, eyes locked with Kyungsoo’s big ones as he stared at him from behind his shoulder blade. “I know you don’t like me that much, and that you think I’m nothing but a shallow man living from my parents’ money, but I’m going to prove you wrong. I can’t promise you of never wearing these shorts again but I can promise to never hurt you. I can promise to only look and think about you Kyungie as long as you allow me to.” Kyungsoo gave the man a halfhearted smile; Junmyeon’s words were so sweet and romantic and he should have felt something for the elder as he stared at him with nothing but adoration glistening from his orbs, but his mind was way too clouded with Chanyeol’s face, Chanyeol’s intoxicating scent, Chanyeol’s warm melodic laugh and deep voice, Chanyeol’s abnormally big hands and big heart and…and simply Park Chanyeol.

Who was Kyungsoo even kidding? This wasn’t working, this would never work. His heart belonged to Park Chanyeol, even though the latter had made it clear to him that day that he didn’t want it. Kyungsoo couldn’t help but feel mad at himself for falling for someone like Chanyeol, someone who only cared about himself; a selfish coward who would rather hurt everyone else around him than hurt himself. Kyungsoo felt helpless though, he could feel Junmyeon talking to him but he couldn’t hear a word, he had zero interest in whatever the elder had to say and he knew he was being unfair yet he couldn’t help it. He couldn’t help what he was feeling; he was hopelessly in love with an . His , Chanyeol could do anything and still be his; his beloved weird big eared Chanyeol who could make his heartbeat race by a mere glance. The Chanyeol who worked his off to be able to join the Kims’ corporation, spending sleepless nights with his face buried into business books just so he could make his mother proud. Just so he could be worthy of being Kyungsoo’s best friend like he once confessed.

“—don’t like it?” Kyungsoo jerked his head up at Junmyeon’s soft voice with a confused expression on. An apologetic small smile quickly replacing the puzzled expression as Junmyeon gave him a worried look. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, I’m sorry I didn’t catch the last thing you said, what was it again?”

“The food, I was wondering if you don’t like it. I should’ve brought something else, I’m sorry I thought you’d like eating some Gimbap like how they usually do in dramas, I’m sorry, I should’ve—“

“Jun, stop apologizing. It’s not the food, I just…anyway, the food is delicious. Thank you for bringing it and for the whole date actually, it’s refreshing, really. Thank you.”

“Jun.” Junmyeon repeated, and then bit his lower lip to stop a stupid wide grin from spreading. “You gave me a petname.”

“Well you call me Kyungie, can’t I call you Jun?”

“You can, of course you can, I’m just…happy you’re giving me a chance.” Kyungsoo stared at the boy sitting from across of him for a second, contemplating on what to say when his phone suddenly came to life. It was Chanyeol.

“I have to take this, excuse me for a minute.” He didn’t have to actually; he shouldn’t have taken the damn call. Once again he was proving to himself that he was a lost cause; he was such a brainless lovesick fool when it came to that tall goofy friend of his. It was pathetic, really.

“Chanyeol?”

“Kyung, I’m sorry but Sehun ditched me the minute we got here, I feel so lonely and neglected and there’s this girl who keeps trying to kiss me, I don’t want to—“ Loud club music echoed through the phone as the clearly drunk Chanyeol slurred those words out.

“Did you seriously call me to tell me that?” Kyungsoo growled, making Junmyeon glance worriedly at him from where he was seated, a Gimbap roll halfway to his mouth.

“She’s very persistent. Kyungsoo-ah, tell her to leave me alone.” Chanyeol ignored Kyungsoo’s words and kept on whining. “Tell her that my lips were made for Yixing to kiss, tell her please.” The doe eyed male should’ve hung up on that drunken , he should’ve thrown the phone away or something yet he didn’t. He couldn't. Chanyeol’s warm deep voice was addictive, he was addicted to Chanyeol. He was sick. An unfaithful sick bastard, his supposed boyfriend was just a few steps away from him and here he was listening to his best friend—whom he loves more than anything—complain about his lips being made for someone who wasn’t even him; tears welling up in his big brown eyes and heart shuttering into million little pieces, Kyungsoo weakly choked the boy’s name out.

“Chanyeol…”

“Kyungsoo-ah,” The doe eyed boy sniffed back his tears before humming for Chanyeol to keep talking. “I miss how we were Kyungsoo-ah...just you, me and Jongin-ah. Just us three running around and not having to deal with the ugly reality of growing up…of life in general.” Junmyeon said something from the back but Kyungsoo didn’t catch it, wasn’t interested in hearing anything from anyone who wasn’t Chanyeol. “We were young and naïve and…and…”

“And?” Chanyeol forced a chuckle and Kyungsoo unconsciously held his breath back at the obnoxiously fake sound.

“Kyungsoo-ah, I’ve been thinking…”

"..."

"..."

“…of?”

“Of us.” Kyungsoo tightened his grip on the phone, knuckles turning white with the pressure. “Of how things could’ve turned up if I loved you instead.”

“Chanyeol I—“ The drunken mess cut him off with ease.

“I know you moved on Kyungsoo-ah.” Kyungsoo wanted to shout and say that moving on wasn’t even an option; he was way too lost in love with the stupid giant to even think about such thing, he didn’t want to think about it actually. Loving Chanyeol hurt so much but the ache was in a twisted way an addiction that Kyungsoo has learned to cope with. Everything about Park Chanyeol was addictive after all, even the sharp burning pain that came with loving him. “But I can’t help but think—“

“Chanyeol? You can’t help but think of what? Chanyeol? Hello?” The line went off and Kyungsoo was left to stare at the dark screen of his phone; a terrible feeling invading his senses as he glared daggers at the poor device.

Jongin was bored. After an entire day of silence treatment from the other male’s part he was more than ready to mend things up with Yixing and ask for forgiveness. The tanned male wasn’t exactly used to apologizing, but he had to do what he had to do. If things keep going this way then it’s best for him to just give up on his revenge plan, pack his things up and fly back home. What’s the use of being here anyway if not to trap Yixing into falling for him? Jongin groaned when a faint sound of light drizzle reached his ears. He was planning on going out but to his like luck, it started raining. Jongin adjusted a black beanie on his head and walked downstairs towards the living room. Intending on talking things out with the Chinese male; hopefully it won’t be that hard convincing Yixing that he was in fact, a nice, soft hearted guy that simply wanted them to be friends.

“Wifeu ~” The tanned male singsonged when he finally reached downstairs. He was a bit taken aback when he found the house nearly empty; the same young maid from that other day just about to put a plate of food on the kitchen table. Jongin smirked when the girl blushed at his sight and quickly excused herself to leave; he took a swift glance towards the ceiling-high plate glass windows only to find them completely blurred by the rain and then called after her. The young maid stopped in her tracks at his voice, shoulders tense and head bowing.

“Where’s Yixing?” He knew she didn’t speak nor understood Korean but he couldn’t care less, it was obvious with the way he kept jerking his head around that he was looking for his fiancé. The girl answered softly something in Chinese that Jongin wasn’t able to understand or even hear properly; he clenched his jaw, irritation evident in his fierce scowl as he asked her to slowly repeat what she just said. The maid shakily repeated and Jongin sighed in defeat. Who was he even kidding? His ability to communicate in Chinese was nonexistent, other than Hangul he hardly spoke a word or two in English. He decided that it was hopeless then, scaring the poor girl wasn’t going to get him anywhere. He shooed her off and walked towards the kitchen, intending to give up on the search for now and instead eat his delicious looking b
