Troublesome teens

Trying: The 'sort of' Sequel

In which Jongin gets into a fight at school... again

~

The last time Joonmyun had been called out from work and asked to come to Jongin's school was when Jongin was just four years old and he chucked a Lego block at some other kids head. That was just over ten years ago now and with Jongin being fourteen years old, Joonmyun would have thought that he grew out of getting into petty little arguments and fights.

Being directed towards the headmaster's office, Joonmyun thanked the receptionist and made his way as told. The feeling of surprise and dismay were all too familiar with Joonmyun and he couldn't anticipate on what he was going to be told this time; Jongin was much older and much taller than the last time he got into a fight with another pupil. Gone were the days of chucking Lego blocks and pushing kids over, Jongin was actually capable of getting into fist fights this time!

Waiting for the voice next door to call him in, the scene that met Joonmyun looked all too familiar; Jongin sat in a seat and turning away from Joonmyun when he saw him enter the room, his teacher this time being replaced with the headmaster who directed him accordingly and Joonmyun could only hold his breath as he waited to be told what had happened next.

Coming home to hear shouting coming from the kitchen was nothing new to Jongdae. He knew that Jongin and Joonmyun rarely argued, and yet when they did he was perfectly use to it. Hearing Joonmyun's attempts to speak to Jongin calmly and try to calm him down being futile, Jongdae could only sigh as he set his shoes and bag down in the hall and wandered on over to the source of the noise to see what was going on.

"Oh come on this is so unfair!" Jongin exclaimed, following his dad around as Joonmyun opened the fridge to take a box of eggs out and handing it to Jongin to put onto the counter. Despite being quite angry at his dad, Jongin did as he was told, though made a point to snatch the box out of Joonmyun's hand and slam it down (though not to hard, he didn't want a whole box of smashed eggs leaking yolk everywhere).

"I actually think I'm being very reasonable in my punishments Jongin. If you're that bothered by it then you should have never allowed this to happen in the first place" Joonmyun replied, ignoring the, quite over-exaggerated, groan from Jongin.

"What's going on here?" Jongdae asked "I thought you weren't meant to be home until late tonight" indicating his question towards Joonmyun
"I wasn't, however I got called in to speak to the headmaster of the school this morning" Joonmyun began before nudging his head in the direction of Jongin "He there got into a fight with another pupil and he's lucky he's not expelled."

Shooting a surprised expression towards Jongin, he was met with a look of guilt in return. Unlike with his dad, Jongin was actually able to look Jongdae in the eyes whenever he knew he was in trouble. He didn't know what it was, maybe because he knew Jongdae was the complete opposite of his dad and didn't look so intimidating when he knew he was about to be punished.

"A fight? Why?" he asked
"Because the guy was being a !" Jongin exclaimed, ignoring Joonmyun's warning of telling him to mind his language "He and every other dickhead friend of his. They were teasing me because unlike everybody else at the school I have two dad's from what is considered 'normal'. It's a good thing Kyungsoo pulled him off of me otherwise I would have taught him a thing or two"

Jongdae was definitely surprised. Jongin's language had begun to change as he got older, however the sweet and shy boy Jongdae once knew him to be was now fading, especially if he got into fights where Kyungsoo had to physically pull him away!

"Jongin we've told you plenty of times to ignore what other people say" he tried
"Well that's easy for you two to say! You're adults, I'm a teenager, still at school who is probably going to have this until I graduate from the stupid place! Do you know how little I feel whenever people shout out that I'm the guy with the gay dads? Or how I feel when we do events at schools for our mum's when I can't exactly participate in them because she's never around? No, you don't!" before pointing a finger towards Joonmyun.

"And it doesn't help when you give me ridiculous punishments for standing up to myself"
"Punching a boy in the stomach is not defending yourself it is pure violence" Joonmyun interjected
"What punishments did you give him?" Jongdae asked however Jongin took the liberty of answering instead.

"Limited internet and phone time I can deal with. Going to bed earlier I can deal with. Missing three, yes three, dance lessons in a row I cannot. Do you not know how important these next few lessons are?"
"You should have thought about that before getting into a fight" and Jongdae could tell just from reading Jongin's expression that it was about to blow up again.

"You're being so unfair!" he shouted as Joonmyun stopped what he was doing and took a deep breath in to calm himself down before he spoke
"I am not being unfair Jongin. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time simple as that!" rolling his eyes when he heard Jongin immitating him in a whiny high pitched voice.

"Tell him he's being unfair Jongdae!"
"Woah, wait, why am I being brought into this?" Jongdae asked, taking a step back.

"You're just as responsible for me as he is"
"Don't drag Jongdae into this Jongin, you're acting really childish right now" Joonmyun snapped back.

"I am not childish!" Jongin screeched
"I don't want to talk about this right now if you're going to act like that Jongin" Joonmyun said with a note of finality before Jongin marched out of the kitchen and into his bedroom, slamming his door shut behind him.

In the silence that followed, Jongdae had walked over to Joonmyun's side and was now rubbing his back, seeing how his body had slumped and hearing the sigh that escaped from him.

"Don't worry about it too much Joonmyun, it's all a part of growing up"
"What happened to the little boy who would come running into bed at night whenever he got scared of the rain?" Joonmyun asked and though Jongdae didn't mean to, he still laughed.

"He's a teenager now! Give him some time to calm down, I'm sure he's sorry and will apologise later"
"Who knew raising a teenager was going to be such difficult work?" Joonmyun muttered as Jongdae let out a scoff.

"I bet you were just as difficult when you were a teenager" he made sure to point out and didn't miss the blush on Joonmyun's face in doing so.

(Of course Jongin did come to apologise to his dad for how he had spoke to him previously. Though he still didn't agree with the punishment of having to miss three dance lessons for getting into a fight, he was willing to sacrifice his lessons in order to recognise what he had done wrong, promising to never get into a fight like that again)

Does anyone find it weird that I've literally gone from Jongin being a little kid in the first chapter to being a teenager in the second chapter? Ah well, I did say that this didn't have a particular order, so hopefully this is not too confusing!

I actually liked this chapter, especially writing and imagining Jongin being a whiny teenager when thing don't exavtly go his way

Until the next chapter!!
