Where Jongin is jealous (though he claims not to be) over Kyungsoo's new friend and Jongdae finds it absolutely adorable

What was so special about Kyungsoo's new friend anyway? Wow, so what if he was from China and had an 'adorable' accent whenever he attempted to string a sentence together in broken Korean? Jongin couldn't understand, he was technically like the new kid himself when he first arrived in Korea! He even had a somewhat cute accent himself from living in Japan! Yet did Kyungsoo take any notice of this? Oh no, all he cared about was who going to be the bad guy and the good guy in their action adventure games (this was also an important issue for Jongin as well, lest he forget). 

"Tao's invited me over to his family's restaurant after school, he says you can come along as well if you want" Kyungsoo said as he and Jongin fought their way through the hustle and bustle of the school halls to get to their lesson on time. 

"Can't, Monggu's not been feeling well these past few weeks, I may see if I can get him into the vets" Jongin kind of lied, though the dog had been looking kind of funny these past few weeks. 

"Not even for free food?" Kyungsoo asked trying his hardest to persuade Jongin to change his mind. The two had gotten to know each other pretty well in the years they had been friends, so whether Kyungsoo knew Jongin was lying or not, he was doing a pretty good job of making sure Jongin had no idea. 

"Seriously I can't, the day I got him I promised to look after him and I'm still being held to the promise" and knowing how important the dog was to him, Kyungsoo coneeded to Jongin's words and let him go without any further attempts to try and get him to change his mind. 

"Okay" he said with a sigh "I'll see if I can convince Tao to sneak in some food for lunch tomorrow so you don't miss out, how does that sound?"
"Oh fantastic" Jongin replied, and of course hearing Tao's name, he felt himself becoming angry- could he even call the emotion anger?- all over again. He had nothing against the guy, they shared a class or two together and Jongin always got a laugh when Tao became terrified when he couldn't understand what was going on and turned to him for help when Kyungsoo wasn't there. 

He didn't know what it was about Tao, but everytime Kyungsoo just went on and on about him or looked to spend more time with him instead of Jongin... he wasn't sure what the feeling was, but if there was one thing he was sure about; he hated it and wanted it to stop sometime soon! 

Jongin was all too glad when school had ended and he could finally come home. Since Kyungsoo had finished bugging him to try and come out with him Tao, he had calmed down and managed to get through the rest of the day without having the need to ask Kyungsoo just why he fussed over Tao a lot more than he fussed over him. What was so different about the two of them anyway? 

Having managed to push that to the back of his mind, Jongin got through the rest of the day without thinking about it one bit, only really feeling a bit 'off' again when he said goodbye to the two of them at the gates and before turning off to go home, actually heard Kyungsoo squealing before seeing what looked like was going to be an attempt to pinch Tao's cheeks. He was actually going to pinch them! Well, that was enough to get Jongin all riled up with his stupid emotions again and he was surpised he didn't slam the door shut when he walked through the front door. 

"Dad?" he called out, thinking if he needed some fatherly advice and guidance, now was the opportune time 

"Depends which one you're looking for" Jongdae called back from the living room "Your biological dad is still stuck at work but if it's fun and awesome non-biological dad you're looking for, I've literally just come through the door myself" 

Jongin can't help but roll his eyes at Jongdae's comment. He was kind of secretly hoping Joonmyun would be home, but knowing that work just loved to keep him in for as long as they possibly could, he guessed Jongdae would have to do for now. 

"What's up with you?" Jongdae asked when he felt Jongin slump down next to him "I thought you would have been out with Kyungsoo for a while like you usually are" 

"Not today. He's out with Tao" Jongin replied moodily, making a face at the mention of Tao's name 

"Well I don't see why you couldn't have gone as well. Besides, I thought you were alright with him" Jongdae commented, surprised at how much- from Jongin's reaction- he seemed to really dislike the mention of the boy. 

"I don't have a problem with him, it's just that almost everyday it's nothing but Tao. Either "Oh. want to come watch a movie with me or Tao?" or "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out for a bit with me and Tao after school" you never get a break from it" Jongin began, taking a deep breath in before he continued "Tao's an alright guy, but I just don't see what's so special about him. He's from China, I'm from Japan! He has a cute accent when he speaks Korean, so did I when I was younger! I've just grown out of it! What's so special about him, huh?" 

Finishing his rant, Jongin sat there waiting for Jongdae to finally kick in as a father role and provide some good advice. He wasn't sure if he should have felt angry or even offended when instead, he heard Jongdae snort and begin to laugh a little. 

"What's so funny?" he all but shrieked, demanding to know what was so funny about his ensuing crisis to Jongdae at that moment 

"Aww Jongin, have you a got a case of the jealousy bug?" Jongdae eventually asked and had to fight o hard to not start laughing again when he saw the expression on Jongin's face. 

"Jealous? I'm not jealous. Why would I be jealous?" he replied, trying to fight his case that he had nothing to be jealous of. With every passing second however, everything was beginning to make sense and maybe the reason why he was hating the mention of Tao's name was because he was indeed jealous. 

"Look at you, you're so completely jealous!" Jongdae exclaimed, squeezing Jongin's cheeks together as Jongin whined and slapped his hands until his cheeks were released

"I-I'm not jealous! Stop saying I am! You're supposed to be giving me supportive advice here" he countered but knew he was seriously losing this battle

"You so are! You can't stand the fact that for the first time Kyungsoo is dividing his attention instead of focusing it on you!" 

That's not true! They both had friends outside of each other, but they often saw them through afterschool clubs and- in Jongin's case- through ballet lessons. It's just that with the two of them they were always seen sat next to each other, always seen talking to each other and adding another person just seemed to take that away, and Jongin didn't like it! 

Oh 

So that's what Jongdae meant by being jealous... 

"Ah this is too cute!" Jongdae said, laughing at Jongin's expression "Just wait until your father hears about this" 

Hearing this, and seeing Jongdae pull his phone out of pocket did Jongin snap out of his trance. Straight away he was leaning over and trying to snatch the phone out of his hand, stopping Jongdae at whatever cost. 

"Don't you dare!" 

"Oh come on this is too cute to keep between the two of us" Jongdae whined and jumped out of his seat "Curse you for being so tall!" 

"Jongdae!" Jongin whined back and was soon chasing Jongdae around the living room to try and stop him from calling his dad. By the time he had actually succeeded in grabbing the phone, Joonmyun had returned home to see the aftermath of the chase. Before Jongin could even get a word in, Jongdae had spilled everything to him and after getting over the feeling of being absolutely moritified, Jongin swore to get his revenge... 

Okay, let me start this with an apology for leaving it almost two months since the last update! D: 

Like seriously, I've just come out of exams and I know I should have left a little note explaining my absence but seriously, over these past few weeks it's been CHAOTIC! Basically ahh exams and ahh private life! But I am back, I have finished for the year and I am kicking it all off with a chapter all about a jealous Jongin. 

Isn't a jealous Jongin cute? 

This will not be the only time we hear of Tao... and again, apologies for waiting like this, but thank you for sticking around!
