Description
The blood stained letters were to be opened over a course of twelve days, one for each day. They were written in neat and crisp handwriting, yet there was no mark of the author. The only thing Alice knew was that the twelve letters were written for her to read and that the author was in love with a girl named Jiah. But Alice didn't understand how she was connected to any of it.
Foreword
A young girl named Alice is interrupted in her studies one day as the doorbell to her home is rung. There, standing in the doorway, is a tall mailman, holding a zipped plastic bag with one thick manila envelope in it. The mailman hands her the bag carefully and quickly, and leaves with a small tip of his hat.
Alice opens the bag and finds a small card which says,
Alice opens the bag and finds a small card which says,
"The carrier of your mail was involved in a Motor Vehicle accident. Due to this event, your mail came in to physical contact with blood..."
She opens the manila folder out of curiosity and dumps out many small letters, all streaked with drips of dried reddish brown liquid. Somewhat unnerved by the news, Alice sees that there is no return address on the letters, so she cannot return the mail back to the sender. She doesn't want to throw them away though, because there are twelve letters in all. There must be something important in them.
The next day, Alice meets the mailman again at her door and she asks who regularly delivered her mail. He says he was a young new worker at the post office. Alice wants to visit him.
So she goes to his hospital room, meeting her mailman. He is twenty-one years old and is a foreigner named Mark Tuan. He is in a coma due to the accident involving him wrongfully getting hit by a truck as he was delivering the mail. The doctors don't know if he'll recover or not, but he remains stable despite his life endangering injuries.
Alice stays by his side and opens the letters after knowing whose blood she is going to be touching.
The first letter is a love letter, and it tells her to open one letter each day for twelve days. Alice knows that the last day will be Christmas, but she has no idea who the person who sent her the letters is, but she obeys the order of opening one letter a day.
The real truth behind the letters is something Alice will have to remember forever.
