"Alice? Is everything alright?" Youngji asked, craning her neck to get a better look at the girl who was hunched over, her hands cradling her head as she held on to a white folded paper.       The name Alice didn't sound right. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, nodding her head. She was lying, though.      There was Alice Yoo. And then there was Jiah Yoo. They were the same person, but entirely different. The only thing that held them together was the love for Mark.       Youngji said something in a cheery voice before departing the room, but Alice didn't hear her. Her whole body ached, and her head began to throb unbearably.            The crash that had taken her family from her happened so suddenly. They were all laughing in the car, congratulating her brother for graduating college with a Master's degree at his college in America. The day before, he had arrived back where he was born in Busan, so Jiah and her parents went to take a trip to visit him.       They were supposed to eat out that day for the first time in six years together, but it never happened.      Jiah's mom and dad died from brain trauma, and her brother died from extreme wounds due to being stabbed by glass. The only reason Jiah survived was because her brother had covered her and her neck with his own body. But while she didn't have any broken bones or destroyed organs, the girl's mental state was deteriorating each day.        It took her months of therapy to get over her fear of vehicles and loud sounds. She felt as if she was going crazy. All the treatments she had received didn't seem to do her good. No matter what they did and told her, she would always remember everything that had happened in the seconds that killed her family. The sounds, the impact, the screaming-- it would never go away. There was no one around her, and there was no one to talk to. But there was Mark back home in Seoul.      But she didn't want to go back home. What would she say to him? Nothing would be the same. She left him on terrible terms anyway. Talking to him wouldn't be easy at all.      Talking to strangers was too hard for Jiah; they all seemed like they looked at her like she was crazy and she couldn't stand it. And every time she'd walk outside, she'd cry, thinking that she'd get hit by another bus.       The thing that made her cry the most at night was how much she wanted someone to be with her. She was missing Mark, but she didn't know what to do. She could only cry until her eyes became swollen.      There was one day that she couldn't take it anymore. Her mind had broke down and she couldn't function properly. The treatments weren't working. The only thing she could do was cry on her bed in the hospital she had been treated at. She wouldn't eat, she couldn't sleep, and she didn't want to live.       Her memories were eating her alive. They were destroying her, starting from her brain.       So she wanted to forget. Everything that had happened before the time she was lying in her bed crying and on the brink of an eating disorder-- she wanted to forget.      If that could make her start over so she could live happily, then she would never ever remember anything again. If those painful memories could all go away and she could make new ones, she wouldn't care. As long as those memories just left and she never remembered them again, she would be happy with a new life.       She stopped crying. She stopped remembering and thinking about the past. It took a while, but after days, she forced herself to never think of what had happened ever again. For her, it never existed. There was no studying for exams, no accident, no dead family, no Mark.       She visually got better while she stayed with a therapist for a couple of weeks, and they finally let her go from the hospital, telling her she could go back to Seoul.      But she stayed in Busan and bought a house with the acquired insurance money from her family, enrolled into new college classes, and changed her name.      Jiah Yoo didn't have to exist anymore because Jiah Yoo knew about the past and all the pain.       But Alice Yoo didn't know, and so she could live on and be happy in Jiah's place.         She didn't know what to call herself any longer. Jiah? Alice? They were the same person right? She couldn't come up with an answer.      Suddenly, the door to the room opened, and Jackson popped out, casually humming a song. He was probably just there to visit Mark, not expecting Alice to be there.       "Alice!" he cried, seeing that the girl was already in the room, "Are you okay?" he asked, wondering why the girl was extremely pale with tears drying on her cheeks. She was holding a white paper in her hand, and Jackson realized then. He had somewhat of an idea what she was crying about.       The girl didn't respond, and instead let her head lower so Jackson couldn't see her crying. He turned to his chair and sat down

Chapter 18: I'm sorry to hear that! But this story is 100% original. I haven't read a story like this before and I do hope that the problem is solved before any thing worse comes up.

Chapter 17: This story has been on my subscription lists for the longest time and I can't believe that I didn't read this earlier. The story progressed well and the way how the characters all knew each other from connections were amusing. I wanted to read a story with Mark last night cause the feels got me and this story was perfect. Even though Mark wasn't there the whole time, it still felt like he was there through the way you explained his story with Alice or should I say Jiah. Overall this story is great and I would recommend it to anyone even if your bias isn't Mark.
