It was 9 in the morning when Alice woke up in her bedroom. Her bedroom was as it always was-- plain white, much like the whole house. The walls were white, the curtains were white, her bed sheets were white, and her drawers were white. There was a small white table near the glass door that lead to the balcony, but that had two flowers that were tucked into a white vase. The flowers were pink and blue carnations, and although they were made of plastic, they gave Alice hope. She didn't remember where she got them, but she didn't want to put them away.
Walking out from her room, Alice went to the kitchen to make breakfast. But she heard someone there who was already raiding through her refrigerator.
"Hey! Wang Jackson! What are you doing here!?" Alice yelled out at the younger boy who was holding on to two eggs. Jackson just set the eggs down and fixed his hair under his cap like he always did.
"I'm making breakfast, duh," he replied, dramatically exhaling a sharp breath. Alice just bit her lip and smacked her hands on the counter.
"How did you get in my house? What about your hotel?" Alice barked back. Jackson just continued to cracking the eggs over the oiled pan. The rice cooker began beeping. Alice shook her head. He even made rice? Unbelievable.
"I only reserved for like three days. Money is tight, you know," Jackson answered back, sighing at the thought.
"Okay, so you spent the night," Alice was talking to herself by then because Jackson had closed off his ears, "but why are you still here? Just leave! You're creeping me out," Alice exclaimed, waving her arms crazily above her head like a crying baby.
"Hey, I'm only looking out for you. You fell asleep next to Marky-Mark and I had to carry you home," Jackson shouted over the popping oil from the pan. Alice widened her eyes. He was right. She did fall asleep next to Mark last night. "And I haven't seen you eat in two days. Your fridge is practically empty like the rest of your house," Jackson mumbled as he set two sunny side up eggs on a plate in front of Alice. He then took two large scoops of rice and dropped them in a mixing bowl, followed by canned corn Alice kept in her pantry.
"Corn? In rice?" Alice pointed to the odd mixture and Jackson shrugged his shoulders.
"It tastes good to me," he replied, going back to the pantry and pulling out can of fish. He eventually added that in, too, but Alice didn't pay attention when she heard her phone vibrating on the granite counter.
"Hello?" she answered the call in her living room, finding one of Jackson's hats. Picking it up, she grimaced at it and drop kicked it into the kitchen. She held back a chortle when she heard Jackson yelp in surprise.
"Hey, is this Alice?" the person on the other line asked. Alice knew this voice easily.
"Jaebum? Are you calling me?" Alice asked, very surprised.
"You guessed it. Jinyoung gave me your number. Sorry if I confused you," he replied.
"No, it's fine. What did you call me for?" Alice was feeling anxious for his reply.
"Oh, yeah. Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to come watch a movie with me. It's new and it looks interesting," Jaebum proposed, his voice never faltering or losing confidence. Alice was at a loss for words. But she thought about Mark. But then she shook her head. Mark wasn't even awake and he didn't even know her. She didn't want to waste her own time.
"That sounds fine. What time?" Alice wanted to advance her life, not stay stuck in one place.
"Can you meet me at the prep school at 12:00? I've got a classes until 11:30," Jaebum replied and Alice nodded her head.
"Okay. I'll see you there,"
"Okay," Alice could practically see Jaebum in her head smiling with satisfaction, "see you, Alice." And the phone call ended after both of them dragged the red button on their screen to end the call. When she turned around, she cried out in shock. Jackson was right in front of her and she didn't even feel him come up behind her. "Who was that?" he asked, holding seaweed wraps in one hand. "Huh?" Alice furrowed her eyebrows, "It was Jaebum," she quietly said, knowing that Jackson didn't like Jaebum that well. Jackson breathed in a quick breath and his shoulders rose, "What?" "It was Jaebum. He called me," Alice replied, looking away. He looked like he could burst like a volcano at any second. "Jaebum? Im Jaebum? That Jaebum?" Jackson craned his neck, and Alice leaned back a bit. "Yeah, Im Jaebum," she didn't want to show that she was actually getting nervous at Jackson's behavior, "he asked me to go see a movie with him at twelve o'clock." "No! No, no, no. Don't go anywhere with that guy!" Jackson stomped his foot and shook his head. "Why not? You can't tell me what to do! He's a really nice person," Alice pouted, standing up straight, ready to challenge Jackson to any fight he wanted to start. Jackson sighed and lowered his head. He looked back up with desperation in his eyes. "Please, if you really wanna go, just be careful around him," Jackson pleaded, shaking his head a bit. "Can you tell me why? What happened that made you hate him so much?" Alice asked, her voice quieting down. Jackson breathed out slowly. "When I first came to South Korea, I was a underground dancer, you know, the ones who dance in the underground," Alice rolled her eyes and Jackson continued, "And Jaebum was one, too. We did collaboration stages sometimes and we were pretty good friends. But sometimes when it was really late at night, I'd wear a mask while performing because I was still a student. I'd get in trouble if I got caught by anyone from school who knew me," Jackson then frowned sadly, "and then I started dating this girl. Her name was Min." By then, Alice was listening well, being very interested at the topic of Jackson hanging out with girls other than herself. "Min? I think I've heard of her. Isn't she an idol now?" Alice asked, recalling a time when she was watching Music Bank. "Yeah," Jackson nodded his head, "but she was my girlfriend before she debuted." "Okay, so how did you start hating Jaebum?" Alice inquired, looking very concerned. "You know how I said I'd wear a mask sometimes while performing?" Jackson sighed slowly. "Yeah," and Alice nodded her head. "Well, I saw Jaebum and Min in the crowd one night, watching me. They didn't know it was me. I don't think they even know that it was me now," Jackson bit his lip and shook his head. "So she cheated on you with Jaebum," Alice clarified. "Nah, Jaebum stole her from me, after using my choreo in a contest to impress her," Jackson's tone turned harsher from bringing up the old memories, "My friend Youngjae told me." "Jaebum knew you were dating Min?" the girl frowned. "Yeah, he did. Everyone in our circle knew. But he never apologized. Because he always gets the girl in the end," Jackson exhaled another sharp breath and closed his eyes, "Just-- be careful around him. I don't like him, but you like him. So whatever. Just don't let him hurt you." And with that, Ja
