Chapter 7

    Sehun couldn’t help but frown when he woke up alone. He had fallen asleep in the kitchen waiting for Kai in the kitchen. He shook his head at the ridiculous thought that Kai would join him and headed to the bathroom. He should just be thankful Kai hasn’t killed him yet. Still, he couldn’t stop expecting more from the other even though he knew it was hopeless. He shook his head and continued with his morning routine before heading back into the kitchen. He groaned finally feeling the slight pain in his neck after snapping out of his thoughts.

“Did you sleep weirdly?” Luhan asked upon entering the room seeing Sehun rub and turn his neck. Sehun nodded and helped Luhan prepare breakfast. Sehun smiled as Sulli ran into the kitchen and greeted him, but that smile disappeared the second Kai followed. Sehun set the table while Sulli helped Luhan in the kitchen. Sehun was about to go back in when Kai, who had already been seated, grabbed his hand. Sehun pulled his hand out of Kai’s grasp and walked into the kitchen without another word.

“This is delicious,” Sulli said breaking the silence. Luhan smiled and offered her some more while Sehun ate quietly avoiding Kai’s gaze.

“See you guys later,” Luhan said as he grabbed Sulli’s hand and headed out. Sehun cleaned the dishes hoping Kai would leave quietly, but frowned when he walked out to see Kai waiting on the couch.  

“Are you going to pretend I am not here?” Kai questioned when Sehun sat down on the other couch. Sehun glanced up from his phone and glared at Kai finally speaking up “that is what you did last night.”

“Look. I know you are upset and I apologize. I showered and then forgot.”

“You didn’t want to remember. You don’t want people to know you have a sense of sincerity. Whatever.”

“Sehun, it’s not like that, Please just give me a chance to make it up to you.”
 

“How?”
 

“What would you like?” Sehun sighed realizing maybe the other really was telling the truth. He sat up and turned around.

“Hmm. I would like a neck massage,” he said. Kai couldn’t help but curve his lips upward slightly as he sat on the couch. Sehun moved to the floor; back pressed firmly against the couch. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as Kai began massaging his neck.

“Thank you Kai.”

“It’s Jongin.”

“Huh?”

“My real name is Jongin,” he confessed and Sehun smiled as Jongin began massaging below his neck. “Jongin,” Sehun whispered before falling asleep. The elder lifted Sehun up and laid him down on the couch. He couldn’t help but think his name sounded beautiful coming from Sehun, as he fell asleep in the unfamiliar feeling of warmth.

    Siwon was going through a contract with a neighboring company when his phone rang. He closed the folder and placed it down before answering his phone. He smiled hearing Daehyun’s voice upon answering and of course agreed to having lunch. Siwon finished his work early and placed the folders aside on his desk. He headed out towards the cafe across the street where he found Daehyun waiting. They ordered their food before breaking out into a silence. Daehyun was nervous while Siwon was curious.

“Hyung, I want you to be completely honest with me,” Daehyun suddenly spoke up and Siwon chuckled at how serious he was being. “Of course, I will be. What do you want to know?”

“Hyung, what really happened with Sehun?” Daehyun asked causing Siwon to suddenly choke on his water. Daehyun quickly stood up and hit his back a few times before taking his seat again. Siwon tried to think of something, but Daehyun was faster than him, as “I know something is up. You acted weird when we mentioned Sehun at dinner. You were even the last one at the hospital.” Siwon sat thinking as a few moments of silence passed by. He finally glanced up at Daehyun and revealed the truth about Sehun.

“Wha....Why...How could you... How could you keep something like this from us?”

“Daehyun, you do not understand how hard it was for me to keep this but Sehun needed the time away from us all. You have to promise to keep this from the others.”
 

“Hyung, how can you ask me to keep something this big from the others?”

“Daehyun, I promise I will tell them all soon. Just give me some time.” Daehyun glanced at his brother and eventually agreed to the other’s request. His brother has been suffering recently and he decided to just go along with the other’s plan. He hoped it would work out well.

    “Do you feel like Siwon is keeping something from us?” Daehyun looked up from his file and glanced over at his hyung. “What?”

“I mean it may seem stupid, but I feel like he has been distant lately.”

“Hyung that could be because he is upset about losing Donghae,” Daehyun spoke suddenly hoping his brother caught onto his lie.

“That’s true. I think we should go out and cheer him up.”

“That is a terrible suggestion. You know how much he hates going out to clubs. Plus he loves Donghae way too much to have fun while the other is gone,” Daehyun spoke shaking his head at the idea. There was a moment of silence and one of the two brothers was about to speak when someone knocked on the door. “Doctor Choi come quick. There has been an accident and we need you in the OR! You should come quick. The patient’s guardian wants you.”

    Sehun held his breath as he hid secretly hoping he would not get caught. He looked around and sighed in relief knowing he was in clear. He glanced around once again before he continued walking. He silently cheered in victory as he reached the border line. One more step and- “Can I help you?” Sehun groaned mentally and turned around to see Jongin’s rival.

“Uh. You see I was just passing by. It is the only route back that I know.”

“The only route? You don’t seem as frightened as before.”

“Yeah. I have matured a bit, honestly.”

“Yeah. I can see that. It’s cute.” Sehun became quiet as he stood staring at the other. He wasn’t sure what to do at the moment.

“Thank... you.”

“Do you wanna have a drink?”

“I... I, um. Maybe another time.”

“Sounds great. I’ll see you here tomorrow at seven then,” the guy said smirking,

“Yeah. See you, bye” Sehun said before rushing across the line, not noticing the man’s smile. Little did he know Jongin had seen their encounter.

“Hey, what’s with that look?” Luhan asked as he walked over towards the door.

“I think I just got asked out,” Sehun said as he sat down on the couch. ‘Wow, Jongin stepped it up,’ Luhan thought.

“That’s great. When?”

“Tomorrow.”

“I’ll help you get ready,” Luhan said getting excited and Sehun nodded smiling though that disappeared when Jongin walked in the room.

“I am gonna go check out your closet. We might have to go shopping,” Luhan said heading to Sehun’s room.

“Hey Jongin.”

“Kai. My name is Kai.” Sehun looked up at Kai in disbelief. “What? But-”

“Was I not clear? Only people close to me can call that. You should consider yourself lucky that I even allow you to call me Kai.”

“I apologize,” Sehun said looking down at his feet. Kai stood still and his gaze lingered towards Sehun. He took a deep breath and moved forward kneeling in front of the other. He lifted Sehun’s head and noticed the other was crying. He reached out to wipe them away when Sehun moved back. Kai felt the color in his face drain as he noticed Sehun flinch and step back. “Sehun ah.”

“Please stop. Why do you do this? Why do you act so sweet one moment and change the next.”

“Sehun, that’s not it. I... I, um..”

“You see. You can’t even be honest.”

“That’s not true. I.. I care f-”

“Sehun I found the perfect outfit. Come try it on,” Luhan called and Sehun slowly stood up trying to calm himself. “If you’d excuse me, I have to go.”

“Are you really gonna go out with that lowlife?” Sehun froze in his tracks and turned around catching Kai’s wandering gaze.

“Yes. Yes I am.”

"Are you sure you won't regret it?"

"No, no I won't. I won't regret it," Sehun swallowed before walking away with a heavy heart wondering if he was going to regret his decision. ‘I’ll make sure you regret this,’ Jongin thought feeling his heart burning, realizing Sehun would truly walk out of his life one day.
