CHAPTER 16

Midorikawa Yuuki's POV :

I was AGAIN just staring at Yumi finish eating beside me. We're sitting on a bench at the park right now.

I really can't win against this girl; that is a clear fact. We were walking earlier when her stomach grumbled again. It only took one look at me with those round doe-like eyes of hers and I gave in, giving her both plates of takoyaki. Good thing she just took one plate and left me with the other because if not, I might be dying of starvation just about now.

“Aren't we supposed to go home now?” she asked after drinking her juice.

“Are you okay now?” I asked seriously, trying to look away but failing since I can't stop staring at her pretty face.

“I'm okay.” she curtly said. Then she sighed and smiled calmly. “I'm finally okay...”

I was still staring at her as she looked up over the blue skies above us. She closed her eyes and felt the wind that was softly blowing.

“You love him?” the words came out of my mouth before I could even think of what I'm saying. And I thought that I'd be experiencing her dreaded stares again because of what I said. But instead she just shrugged and smiled.

“I thought I did...” she said softly yet clearly. I could even hear contentment in her voice, or maybe it was my mind feeling relieved because of her answer.

“I just realized when I saw him that I didn't actually love him. I don't even like him that much...” she even laughed as she said that. I felt my heart beat so fast just by looking at her talk to me openly.

“Then why did you dated him?” I asked, again with my mouth saying things without thinking. Yumi looked at me blankly and I thought she'd get mad. But instead she just sighed before answering,

“You know, that guy's actually pretty popular at our school. Almost everyone liked him. He was cool, intelligent, and is really good at sports so when he confessed to me, all I could think of was... Wow, you're lucky Yumi! Everyone likes him but he likes you!... It was stupid because all I could think of was how everyone would think about us dating and I was blinded by that. I didn't even get to see how an a**hole that guy is.”

I couldn't believe that Yumi, the girl who hates me, is actually sharing about her past relationship like this to me. She then looked at me and caught me staring intently at her,

“Hey... I know what you're thinking... I just wanted to answer your stupid questions because you were kind enough to feed me and because you're still going to bring me home. I guess I needed to be kind to you just for now.” she said directly. And again I was awed, does she know me that much to know even what I'm thinking?

“I... Let's go to the amusement park.” I suddenly exclaimed making her frown in confusion.

“What? Amusement park? Where?” she asked me still with the confuse look on her face.

“Just follow me, let's just ride the train to get there faster.” I smiled at her and stood up, then I offered her my hand...

“Come on!”

“Tsk. Fine...” and she stood up, ignoring my stretched out hand.

“I can walk on my own, thank you very much.” she said strictly but then she smiled shyly at me afterward,

“Let's go...” she said smiling. It was actually refreshing to see her smile like that. She don't do it often so it was kinda new but I could really say that I could easily get used to that smile of hers.

“Hey...” she suddenly voiced as she stopped on her tracks, then she turned around just in time to look at me straight in the eyes with her round innocent orbs...

“Thank you, Midorikawa Yuuki.” she said and smiled with a faint blush evident in her face.

And thus, I fell in love with the same girl again...and this time much more deeper than the first time.
