Saturday Lunch
Weekly LoverKyungsoo and Jongin walked the familiar road to Kyungsoo’s house, still hand in hand. The three books from the bookstore now kept together
in the paper bag Jongin was carrying.
“Are you nervous?” Kyungsoo asked as he took note of Jongin’s moist hand that was quickly turning cold.
If only Kyungsoo knew how much Jongin’s heart was thundering in his chest. True, the road had grown familiar with Jongin’s frequent visit to
Kyungsoo’s house during the past week. Plus, he even had the chance to enter once, but this will be the first time that he will go there with the
purpose of meeting his boyfriend’s family.
“Are you okay?” Kyungsoo stopped and looked directly into Jongin’s eyes. The lack of an immediate response from his boyfriend made Kyungsoo
very uneasy. He gripped Jongin’s hand tighter, the worry eating away all the confidence he might’ve had earlier.
“You know, I can just tell mom that you’re not yet ready to meet her. I can tell her that this is all too sudden and that we should ---”
“Soo. Soo. Calm down. It’s okay. I’m okay. It’s fine. I’m just nervous, that’s all.” Jongin quickly stopped him, grabbing his face and staring back at
those worried eyes. He hadn’t realized how much he had worried Kyungsoo with how nervous he was. He had even pushed Kyungsoo into coming
up with the suggestion of postponing today’s meeting with his mom. Jongin felt terrible for causing all of this to him. He didn’t like the idea of Kyungsoo
misunderstanding the situation and thinking that Jongin might’ve wanted to back out from all of this.
“Are you sure?” Kyungsoo asked.
“Yes. I’m just worried that I might make a bad impression in front of her. And that’s the last thing I’d want.”
“I’m not forcing you to do this, Jongin. We can postpone it if you want.”
“Soo. I want this, okay? I want to meet your mom. I don’t want to hide this relationship because I don’t see the reason to. And this isn’t some sort of
fling or whatever, I want a serious relationship with you. How can I start that if I can’t meet your family?”
Kyungsoo looked at him with still uncertain eyes, obviously not totally convinced that Jongin was fine.
“I’m sorry for worrying you. Just trust me, okay?”
The older boy placed his hand on top of Jongin’s and squeezed it. Jongin realized that he wasn’t the only one with cold sweaty hands because
Kyungsoo’s hand was just as cold and sweaty as his.
Jongin pulled Kyungsoo at the side of the road and hugged him tightly. He buried his head at the curve of his lover’s neck and whispered “I’m
meeting the family of my beloved boyfriend, who wouldn’t be worried stiff?”
Jongin felt a not-so-hard punch on his stomach causing him to break his hug.
“You and your sweet playboy talk.” Kyungsoo said in a playful tone while making a face at him. Jongin had to laugh at Kyungsoo’s response.
“I thought we both agreed that I already graduated from being one.”
“Says who?”
“Oh, come on, Soo.” he whined cutely at his lover.
Kyungsoo just smiled at him with those heart-shaped lips Jongin so loves.
“I don’t care if you are a playboy that knows how to sweet talk your way out of everything.”
“I’m telling you, I graduated from that already.” Jongin said who was half-laughing now.
Kyungsoo grabbed Jongin’s hand so they can continue their way to his house then whispered to himself, “As long as you only use that sweet
playboy talk to me.”
“Say that again!” Jongin said, pulling Kyungsoo’s hand to stop him from walking, but the shorter boy was determined not to face him.
“Say it again, Soo!” Jongin whined at him.
“As long as you stay my tamed puppy?” Kyungsoo said in response.
“I’m pretty sure that was not what I heard earlier.”
“Then you heard it, no need to repeat it.”
“So
