Woohyun continued looking to the man in front of him. He was still possessing what he just heard. He wanted to say it was crazy, that it was impossible for him to be the reason of those scars. They just met for god's sake. How could he be responsible of something that happened years ago, before he even knew about Sunggyu's existence? “What the hell are you talking about? I just met you...hours ago!” Woohyun said, trying his best to remain calm and put together. He was sure this was the result of a freak out from the injured man, and he understood. He knew that he was probably doing this because he was scared. “No we didn't! We've known each other for years...” Sunggyu paused and gave two steps back, not wanting to be that close to Woohyun.

The bed was between the them, and Woohyun didn't even dared to move. “...I can't believe I didn't recognized you right away...I should have known...by the name....I should have known it was you.” Sunggyu didn't cared if the other man was obviously confused. He just continued feeling like the world was crushing down around him. For moments he thought he met someone that didn't cared about the way he looked, someone that liked him for who he was, not for what he was. But he was so wrong. He couldn't believe he actually had hoped for something that wasn't real. “We were in the same school...I was one year ahead of you...” He paused and Woohyun continued looking at him like he was saying the most stupid thing in the world, like he was making up the whole thing. “I remember now...like it was yesterday.” Sunggyu was feeling the tears running down his eyes as he continued remembering everything that happened in the past. It was so painful. Now he knew why he had forgotten everything. Now he knew why half of his life had been a big black whole. He didn't want to relive all those things. He wanted to forget forever.

But as soon Woohyun called him 'Paradise' everything came back to him, like a bolt of electricity. He could feel his hands shacking and his heart beating faster and faster. “One day...before the accident...way before...you went next to a man...on valentines day... and you said you loved him...” Woohyun raised a brow. No, he still didn't believed what Sunggyu was saying but he looked to the man in front of him. “How do you know that?” He asked. No one knew that. Not even his family or closest friends. He never told anyone the story of how he felt in love for the first time. He never told the story of the man he once loved more than live itself. Not to anyone. So how could Sunggyu know it? “He didn't believed you. At first he thought you were joking since you were the guy all girls wanted have and all guys wanted to be...but you kept going after him, you kept confessing your feelings over and over...”

Sunggyu made a pause. Woohyun was beyond confused and the more he listened, the worst it got. He was sure he was going to lose his patience in any second, but for now, he just decided to keep talking. “He told you he would go out...and you made everything you could to make him happy. You wanted to tell the world you two were together but since he was scared, specially because of his father, you were okay with it....but he loved you very much. So much it hurt him.” Woohyun started biting his lower lip in anger. How did this man knew those things? How was it possible? “If he loved me so much...why did he left me?” He asked, closing his hands into fists. Sunggyu started crying even harder as he continued remembering everything that happened in the past. He was sad, he was depressed, he was angry. It was everything at the same time, and he didn't know how to control his emotions.

“I didn't left you...” Sunggyu sobbed and Woohyun looked at him with angry eyes, not believing a single word. “You were the one who left me!” Now the other man couldn't help but be shocked when he heard it. “These scars...I got them because of you! I saved you from getting hit by a car. I saved you from certain death....” Woohyun opened his eyes widely. What was happening there? What the hell was happening there? Yes he remembered being saved, he remembered the man he loved but...why couldn't he remember Sunggyu? Everything else made sense, but it was like Sunggyu was a piece of another puzzle, of another life and didn't matched in his own. “When I woke up in that hospital....I hoped, I needed to see you. But you weren't there next to me! I went back to school, and instead of having you protect me from all those mean people...You were one of them! You made fun of me, you bullied me...”

Sunggyu took a deep breath. It was so hard to keep talking without breaking down into tears, without insulting Woohyun with all his might. “I wanted to hate you, but I loved you more than I wanted...so I decided to forget...and I did it. Until you called me Paradise....all came back to me...” Woohyun continued looking to Sunggyu, still not believing a word he just heard, and the other man could see it. He took another deep breath and closed his eyes. “One night, I held me until we woke up because I was scared my dad would come drunk and beat me...” When he noticed this wasn't enough, he decided there was one thing he could say to make the man believe him once and for all, without second doubts. “You said...your dream...would be.....run away with me and...marry me...” When Sunggyu said this, the other man jumped from the bed, not saying a single word. He just jumped and walked towards the older man. Sunggyu was scared of what could happen.

He closed his eyes and then he heard a hand hitting the wall and shivers traveled down his body. He was so scared he couldn't help but feel his legs giving up on him. He was breathing so fast he was sure he would have an heart attack. What would Woohyun do to him? Finish the job, since he couldn't do it in High School? Make fun of him? Break him in two? “I thought you were dead!” Woohyun's voice was mad, angry and low. The opposite of what he had been showing that day. “Your dad told me you died as soon you got to the hospital. He didn't let me see you. I wanted to die!” It was Sunggyu's turn to be confused but he still didn't accepted Woohyun's excuse for all of those years without saying a thing. “How could you not know it was a lie? I went to school!”

“I couldn't even recognize you! All those scars...they were much worst back then....I couldn't even recognize your eyes...your beautiful eyes...” Woohyun was saying something beautiful, but his voice was the complete opposite. “And I was in a deep depression. I tried to kill myself....I even wrote a ing letter to my family saying I was going to join you!” Woohyun could feel cold sweat running down his face. He felt like he was seeing a ghost, that he was dreaming and as soon he woke up, everything would go back to normal.

Sunggyu would still be dead, and he would still fight every day to wake up, smile and hope that he would find someone that would fill the void the only person he once cared about left. “People just called you the freak. I thought you were a new guy...I started bullying you because I thought it would make the pain go away....but it didn't...so I just left school...transferred...I couldn't keep going to a place where every corner I looked reminded me of you.”

Silence took over the room. Both were so hurt. They didn't know what to say. All those years, they lived a lie. Woohyun thought Sunggyu was dead. He thought, he believed that the person he loved the most, had left him forever, without saying a single word, while Sunggyu thought Woohyun lied to him. He spent all those years believing Woohyun had played with his heart and then treated him like the other people did. What were they suppose to do know? They couldn't ignore those years. They couldn't just erase them and start from scratch. It was impossible. The feelings they no longer had...the feelings they learned to ignore, the feelings that they stopped having...they couldn't just ignore and act like nothing happened.

“....What do we do know?” Woohyun asked. Sunggyu started biting his lower lip and moved away, far from the other man. He started having flashbacks of him pushing Woohyun away from the car. He had flashes of his life when the car hit him. He never imagined it was possible, and he didn't want to admit, but most of them were related to Woohyun and the time they spent together. But that was past! “...You should know, never to trust my dad...but you still did...” Woohyun opened his mouth to speak, but the other stopped him. “I don't want...to hear it. For years...I thought you abandoned me...you believed a lie. You should have known best...and did you ever thought about visiting my grave? To be sure I was dead?” Sunggyu didn't need an answer. The guilty look on Woohyun's face was all he needed. “These scars are a reminder of everything I lost...including you...” He made a pause and crossed his arms, like he was protecting himself. “The day I got hit...I wasn't the only one who died...” Sunggyu meant his spirit. He felt like his spirit died as soon he woke up on that hospital and didn't saw Woohyun next to him. “Sunggyu...” Woohyun called but the other ignored. “We died....we both died...and nothing, nothing will bring us back...”
