One more step to love

예기치 않은 (Unexpected)

~*~

It's been five hours since you got to Korea. Lots of people were coming to Jiyong's grandparents' house, which was in the countryside. Jiyong looked too tired from standing up and waiting for the people. It was his responsibility as the only grandchild. When it was around five o'clock in the morning, he couldn't be seen anywhere in the house. You followed him and found him sitting on the beach. Not saying anything you just walked up to him and sat beside him.

- You know, until I was 7 years old I lived in my grandparents' house. My parents didn't have time to look after me so I saw them only on weekends or during vacations, - Jiyong broke the silence. - But why was I so unprepared? I always believed that my grandparents would live the longest. Because they were always so active and energetic, - he added, never turning his head to you. It felt like he wanted to hide his teary eyes.

- But you're still lucky, - you said sincerely. - I never saw my grandparents. They both passed away before I was born. I wish I could know how my grandmother and grandfather looked, - you looked at him. He turned his head and looked in your eyes too. His eyes were so teary that you wondered how could he keep his tears from falling. He loosened his necktie and looked down to avoid your eyes. You put your palms on both of his cheeks. He stopped what he was doing and looked up again. You slowly shortened the distance between your faces and when he closed his eyes, you placed a gentle peck on both of them. You wanted to say to him that he could cry as he wanted to in front of you but you didn't want to tell something like this because you weren't sure how he would react to it.

Jiyong opened his eyes and a tear rolled down his cheeks. At the side of it you couldn't help but feel your eyes tearing up too. Because at that moment you couldn't define whose pain you were feeling. Cause you felt like your heart was breaking into pieces.

Jiyong's POV

I wanted to control myself. I wanted to not show my tears to her. But when she looked at me and placed a peck on my closed eyes I felt a tear rolling down my cheeks. Her eyes started getting teary too and I felt guilty for passing my pain to her. She was too sensitive to my emotions. I had to control myself. I tried to stop her tears from falling down. I wrapped my arms around her body and took her in my embrace. After staying for a while in that position I pulled from her body and brushed a strand of hair on her cheek. She fixed my loosened tie and smiled at me with teary eyes. It was her attempt to encourage me again. I responded with a weak smile.

After coming back home you were all having launch in silence. From time to time Jiyong's parents tried talking about something else. You felt that they were making it for you, so you wouldn't feel that uncomfortable. But to be honest, you didn't want to talk too. Because Jiyong didn't talk at all. He even didn't have any appetite. Even Sae Ah wasn't saying anything. You thought that omoni and aboji explained everything to her already.

After launch you all went to sleep because you were tired. When you went to your bedroom, Jiyong was there already. You didn't say anything and laid beside him. Suddenly he turned to your side and wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You buried your face in his chest and drifted to sleep.

~*~

The days went by and Jiyong lost his usual smile. The brightest smile in the world that he had seemed to disappear and change his place with a weak one. He was still his warm self but it felt like he was too exhausted.

You and Jiyong were sitting on the couch, watching TV and while changing the channels you noticed a swimming competition that was airing on the sports' channel. You watched in amazement how those girls could swim so well.

- Do you like swimming? - Jiyong asked.

- I like it but I can't do it, - you replied.

- What do you mean? - Jiyong looked at you.

 - I think that swimming is beautiful but whenever I try doing it I seem to fail at learning it, - you sincerely answered.

- Do you want me to teach you? - he offered.

- You can? - you got excited.

- Of course I can. I may not be the best at everything but I'm pretty good at swimming, - he replied.

- But you are the best mostly at everything, - you smiled at him.

- Woah. Is it a compliment? I think it's your first time telling me one, - he chuckled. "Oh My God! His smile is back!" - you thought to yourself looking in awe at your husband.

You went to the pool that was in the backyard of your house when you saw him already swimming there. He was swimming like a professional. You heart skipped a bit at how handsome he looked.

- Come down here. The water is really warm, - Jiyong swam towards you in order to help you get in the pool. He took your both hands in his and slowly led you into the pool. As you were entering the water it felt really pleasant because you felt safe with Jiyong and because the water really was pretty warm.

Jiyong's POV

I couldn't help but stare at her when she walked closer to the pool where I was swimming. She was wearing shorts and a revealing top with her pink bikini under them. Her body was perfect. I wondered if I was born this lucky to have such a beautiful wife.

When I took her both hands in mine I felt like an electricity went through my body. I took a deep breathe to calm myself and started teaching her the basics.

After practicing a while I encouraged her to give it a try already.

- Just relax. Don't try to control your body, - I said to Jiwoo, encouraging her swim towards me.

- I'll be waiting here. Just swim towards me. Come on, you know how to swim now. Just try to keep your body relaxed. The more you get nervous, the more it'll be hard, - I moved away from farther.

- Where are you going? - she panicked.

- I'll be waiting for you here. Now, just try it. Come on, I believe in you, baby, - I smiled at her. She froze for a minute and sighed, giving in. She started moving her legs and arms and I saw her body moving towards me.

- Well done, baby! Jusy a bit more, - I shouted as if cheering for a sport player. Even in this situation she looked beautiful. I couldn't understand why she didn't learn swimming till today. Because she looked like a mermaid and her moves didn't seem awkward to me like I thought it would. She almost reached me and I pulled out my hand to reach hers. She stopped swimming and stood on her feet in the pool. I took her hand in mine and in one swift motion I pulled her towards me, making her body crash on my chest.

- My wife is such a quick learner, - I smiled brightly, looking in her eyes.

- And my husband is such an amazing teacher, - she said, never looking away. I didn't reply anything, I just smiled and locked her lips with mine. I think she was too surprised because we haven't kissed after the one that we had in the grandparents' house. I was fighting my sadness for a long few days and all I did was hug her. Actually I was afraid too. I was afraid that I'd scare her if I kept insisting. Because last time when we almost went there I felt that she wasn't completely ready.

She put her arms around my neck and started responding to my kiss. I smiled into the kiss and s my arms around her waist, holding her body even closer to mine. I felt this connection and at the same time irresistable attraction towards her that every time we had skinship I felt like losing control. Nobody would ever understand how hard it was for me to control myself.

She pulled away first and tried to regain her lost breathe.

- It's my gift. For being such a quick learner, - I smiled at her playfully, never taking my hands away from her waist.

- Unnie! Unnie! We're back. I bought a present for you, - we heard Sae Ah's voice from the house. She came running outside and before she could see, we swiftly pulled away from each other.

- Really? Unnie will look at it now, - Jiwoo smiled at her and I gave her a sweet smile too. I sighed heavily. Why something always comes up at times like this. I was frustrated.

- Why are you pouting, oppa? - Sae Ah pointed at me.

- Me? I don't know. Maybe it's a new habit, - I tried to find a good lie.
