Saturday Night
Thursday NightsBright lights, people dancing, drinks and hors d’oeurves, no this wasn’t the night club. This was another one of Jaejoong’s company party, celebrating who knows what. Soo Yun didn’t know anything about business. All she knew was that, she had to look good as the CEO’s wife with polite and perfect manners.
Jaejoong had laid a hand on the lower part of her back as she stood close beside him. This was always their position. It showed people that they were a couple and they were happy and still very much in love. Well, that’s what they wanted people to think. Since the beginning of the night, Soo Yun’s smile was plastered on her face; it was coming to the point that it seemed permanent.
The night had seemed perfect. It felt like good old times again with Jaejoong looking at her and talking to her. As if nothing had happened, because in this room and according to these people, nothing did happen. Soo Yun would’ve loved to keep it that way: his eyes twinkling and dashing smile all just for her. But no, the night was too young and too perfect to be true. The other woman had arrived.
She was dressed in a deep red dress and low enough in the chest to expose cleavage. Soo Yun had never before been so insecure in her lovely cream colored dress. When the other woman arrived, no one really stared but Soo Yun didn’t care, her man did. It was as if he could sense her presence, which Soo Yun was sure he could since her scent was always clinging onto him.
Soo Yun took a shaky sip of her champagne and felt Jaejoong next to her shift. He shifted a tiny bit away. No one would’ve noticed, but she did. That distance, even if it was just barely an inch apart, it felt like they were worlds away. And they probably were.
She wanted to know what he was thinking as he stared at the vixen in red. Did he want her tonight? It was Saturday, absolutely against the rules, but he looked like he wanted her either way. Is he in any way replaying any scene they’ve ever spent together? The look in his eyes was telling her this as he dazed away. God, she hated asking questions in her head and never having them answered. Soo Yun felt like she needed to get away. Why was she always running, and never fighting? More useless questions.
She took in a deep breath and stepped out of Jaejoong’s arm. He gave her a questioning glance. “Hungry, gonna grab something quick,” she said.
“Okay,” he replied. “Hurry back.”
But she didn’t. She took her sweet time going over to the table which was set with various appetizers. Soo Yun grabbed ahold of anything in her sight; she wasn’t even paying attention to the food in front of her. It seemed like a big blur and she didn’t care, she was a robot at the moment just acting like someone who was interested in eating.
She heard that infamous giggle and cringed. He probably was talking to her now, she probably approached him first. At an event like this, Jaejoong wouldn’t do anything to tarnish his reputation. Soo Yun gripped the glass wine cup tighter and closed her eyes. When she reopened them, she noticed that her eyes had landed on her ring. Looking at it now, her stomach no longer swirled like it used to. Before, if had always reminded her of how he proposed.
