The Fussy One vs. The Exhilarated Twins

"Uncle, do you really want to see me and my career crumble right before us?" Hana groaned, her eyes flickering from her said uncle to the "despicable" twins, as she liked to call them, sprawled on the living floor. She couldn't help but think how life throws something at her that she's not necessarily ready to handle. One minute, everything's fine, and then a pair of monstrosity comes barging on her doorstep.

Don't get her wrong though. She loved the said monstrosities to bits. It was just that for one, she just woke up, meaning to say that she looked like when her uncle came. For two, it was Tuesday, meaning that she had work in a few hours. How could her uncle even expect Hana to take care of his kids? The worse of all, she already had enough on her plate as we speak, A.K.A. Mr. Kim Minseok and Mr. Wi Yi Fan, the literal mostrosities in her life. Clearly, she wasn't up for another baggage.

"Seriously, I think I've already told you that my current job is only temporary. Let's not forget to mention that my boss isn't 100% pleased with my existence either, and honestly, a single screw up could end my life, with me, living in the streets. Please, uncle. I'd love to take them in, just not today. On second thought, at least not on a weekday, please?" She requested, putting up her oh-so-infamous puppy-eyed expression.

"No can do, kid. You know that your aunt had always wanted to get on a holiday trip or something to straighten our backs. Besides, you know how hard my work is these days. As much as I want to spare you at this rate, we already booked the flight. Actually, we're going to leave in a couple of hours. We haven't even packed yet." Her uncle said, clearly gulping in anxiousness as his eyes swifted on his niece's hateful glare. "Oh, come on! It's just one day! Just tell your boss that you're sick or something! It's not like he's gonna die for not seeing your cute little face for a day!" Her uncle, Hwijae, flung his arms on the air in exaggeration.

"No! You can't just do that to me!" Hana grumbled, although she already felt that she had nothing more in defense. The flight was already booked. "Seriously, uncle? In a couple of hours? And you just thought of telling me the today? Are you kidding me?" Hana questioned, exhasperated.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. Blame the wife. She was the one who pushed this situation. Sorry," her uncle defended, bringing up his arms in front of him in defense. He sighed, pulling up his puppy-eyes at her. By that, it's in their blood. "Come on, cutie-pie. Just for two days. Please? Give this old man a break, 'kay?"

Defeated, Hana sighed and bit her lip, annoyed. "Fine."

She watched as her uncle fist-bumped the air before galloping Hana into a literal breath-taking hug. "Well, I see that you're enjoying this too much. Just for your information, if I lose my job, you're gonna pay for my apartment until I recover. Kapish?" She said, breathless, as her uncle pulled away with a grin.

"Of course! Anything for my favorite niece!" He exclaimed, removing the backpack slung on his shoulder and placing them on the coffee table at the apartment's living room. "I've brought their clothes, enough for two days. They've grown quite enough so you don't have to feed them baby formula anym--"

"Meaning to say that I have to cook for them?" She asked, cutting of his uncle's lecture.

"Basically, yeah," his uncle confirmed, grinning at her in an annoying manner.

"Great. Just great. This is just what I need," she grumbled.

"Really? You need them? Should I send them here often then? I am totally agreeing to that proposal, you know?"

"Seriously, uncle? Do you not know the term 'sarcasm?' Can we just get a move on here?"

"Alright, alright," he replied, continuing his little lecture, "Uhm, yes you have to cook food for them. You can always take them out food though. They're seriously not that picky. Just get them off of spicy stuff since they can't handle much of it yet, and please don't give them anything like dried seeweed. They eat, like, at least a pack of them a day. It's really weird. Oh, and here's some money. If you need more just text me and I'll send them to your account. Money's not really that much of a problem."

"Cocky much, uncle?" She raised an eyebrow. "All noted though. Anything else?"

His uncle hummed, pondering for more noted to be taken. "Nope. Nada. That's all." He confirmed.

"I guess that's all then?" Hana asked.

"Let me just say goodbye to my little monsters."

"The floor is all yours," Hana waved, sighing once again. She couldn't just believe that she had to deal with two little devils for one day. More importantly, how could she possibly tell her boss that she couldn't make it for the day? This was one of the critical working days that she had to be present. In a week's time, the second trial for Park Chanyeol's case was to be done, and she had a couple of businesses to take care for at the company as well. Being the CEO's secretary required a lot of work; everybody knew that. A day's absence would clearly mean a definite lecture and a pile of work to be stacked.

"Seojun-ah, Seoeon,ah, Daddy's gotta go, okay? Be good to Hana-noona, okay? I'll be back in two days, so don't worry." Her uncle Hwijae continued to sooth at the twins as they whined and clung to their father.

Great. Now I have to deal with two wailing kids once uncle leaves.

She thought bitterly. It was a good thing that the twins recognize her. In fact, the twins have always been fond of her every time she visits their house. Basically, she was just having a really off-day.

As sighed and fished out her phone from her room, debating what she could possibly reason out with her boss as her finger remained hanging on top of the call button. Biting her lip, she tapped the said button and anxiously bit her nails in nervousness as the ringing began. After three exact rings, the other line was picked up, and she was met with her boss' deep voice.

"Yes, Hana?"

Her heart fluttered in her chest as she heard her boss speak of her first name. The fact that Chanyeol called her by her first name made her feel like the way her name rolled out of his mouth was just perfect. As we speak, they were already in the first name basis three days ago. She wasn't really sure what happened. It just did. It was like a natural phenomenon when he called her by her name all of a sudden, and she just accepted it. Of course, the blushing cheeks spoke for herself, but she didn't debate, because she liked it.

"Uhm, s-sir, w-would it be possible for me to skip work for the day? I'm having some problems at the moment." She said, stuttering for a moment as she hadn't fully-recovered from his introduction a while ago."Why are you sick? Or are you just feeling lazy to get to work? We both know how hectic this day is, Hana. And how many times have I told you to call me by my name when it's just the two of us talking? We're not at work. At least give us both the chance to be comfortable with each other."

Comfortable with each other? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

A set of butterflies flocked in the pit of her stomach with his words, at cheesy as that might have sounded. It was true. Despite him calling him by her first name, she forced herself not to do the same, mainly to remain polite and proper as Chanyeol was still her boss. Either that, or she was just not ready to call him by his first name either considering the constant flutters that she had always felt.

Gulping, she still refused to call him by his first name, "Uhm, no sir. I'm not sick. I'm just... really having some problems right now," she explained, giving a brief glance at her uncle and the twins. "Look, sir. I'll make it up to you tomorrow. I just... really can't make it today?" She said, her statement turning into a question from her nervous tone. She heard a sigh afterwards at the end of the line, giving her the feeling that he was disappointed. Shaking that thought of, she waited for her boss' reply.

"Fine. You do know that I'm not gonna let this go, right?"

"W-What do you mean?"

"I'll go by your apartment later."

"W-What? No!" She exclaimed, startling the people in the living room. She heard a loud thump inside Jiyeon's room. She must've waken her up as well. "I mean, you don't have to. You don't have to worry about me--I mean, it. Yeah, it."

"I meant we really needed to talk, more like discuss. We need to brainstorm if we're still set on saving the company and my reputation back. The contract, remember? Besides, It's not that I'm worried. Actually I am worried because you are extremely acting very suspicious right now, but anyway, we really need to talk."

She felt her heart crack a bit when he reminded her of the contract, and them bringing his company and reputation. She couldn't help but think of the reason why he wanted to talk. Was all that just for the contract, because they were both binded by a piece of paper? Did he really just care for his company and his so-called reputation? Was she just a mere secretary to him? Shaking those unwanted thoughts from her mind, a wave of confidence coursed through her body as she spoke.

"Okay then. Let's talk later, Chanyeol," she said, a bit stoic in her opinion, and hung up the phone. She didn't care for the venom that laced with her voice as she spoke of his first name. She wasn't sure what was that all about either, but all she knew was that she should keep her held up high. She wouldn't lie when she said that she had feelings for the latter. She did. S
