Lingering Touches

Himchan stood awkwardly in front of the elder male, not sure how to start (he didn't expect this to happen in the many scenarios he played in his head so that's an excuse for the embarassing situation). He kept his left hand on the doorknoob while his right hand hung awkwardly at his side. He really was at a loss.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, the elder male let out a small chuckle, allowing Himchan to relax a little (and god did he miss that smile); let some tension go.

"Want to come in?" The elder offered as Himchan stood there hesitantly (how the hell is he so calm?!).

"You were going somewhere though," he muttered and watched as the elder froze in his spot.

"Uh... yeah, it's fine now," Yongguk said, opening the door wider for the younger as he walked in.

Silence took over once more as Himchan hesitantly closed the door behind him. He imagined knocking on the older male's door and having no response (which also means that he'd have to go look at other places to look for the elder. But knowing Yongguk, he would probably be wallowing in his studio like he usually does), or maybe bumping into Yongguk on his way back with a couple packs of beer with him (Yongguk usually buys drinks before going back to his apartment on weekends like this). He even imagined having the pretty music major girl answer the door instead of Yongguk, or maybe one of his friends (probably Jongup or Junhong because Daehyun is more likely somewhere drinking with a bunch of people and Youngjae definitely has work today).

"Himchan?" He heard the elder call out, bringing him back to reality. He stared at Yongguk with wide eyes, not muttering a word (not because he didn't want to say anything but because nothing would come out of his mouth).

"I asked if you wanted a drink," the elder repeated, his head popping out of the kitchen doorway. Himchan seriously missed this. He missed everything about this. From the warm, cozy apartment that he learned to be so fond of to the cramped old sofa he always complained to Yongguk about. He missed staying up until midnight, just talking over some beer or sometimes coffee regardless of how tired they were. He missed squeezing into that damned old sofa with Yongguk, his feet never failing to land on the elder male's lap as they watched various tv shows, movies, or dramas that they were able to catch (shows that they never really paid attention to because they would always end up sleeping halfway through it or teasing one another).

He walked over to the kitchen, watching the elder male's back as he made the coffee like he usually does. As if Himchan not coming over to visit never happened. And Himchan never realized until now how he missed having Yongguk around him; the silence and the comfort that the elder male always made him feel-- the security and the warmth.

Himchan still stood at the doorway by the time Yongguk gained the courage to turn around with the mugs of coffee he made. He didn't expect this situation to happen after all.

"It's been a while huh?" He started as an attempt to break the silence and Himchan offered a smile, seeing through Yongguk's act.

"Here, drink while it's warm," Yongguk smiled back, taking his eyes off of the younger male (because the twinkle still wasn't there and he really wants to see it again).

"It's cold out--" Yongguk started (because Himchan was still standing there staring at him) only to be interupted by an "I missed you," from the younger male.

Himchan covered his mouth as soon as the words came out of them. He hadn't meant to say that out loud. His heart thumped in his chest and butterflies flew in his stomach as he stared wide eyed at the elder male who seemed just as surprised as he was.

"And I know you missed me too," he laughed, walking past the elder male; washing his hands as a last resort for the lack of something to do made him panic even more.

"I mean who wouldn't miss me?" He was starting to ramble now and couldn't help but feel ridiculous as he shook from the nerves. He could feel the older male staring at him and it took a lot of courage to turn around, come over and try to grab a mug from the elder male.

"Give me one," the younger muttered with an awkward laugh as he walked over to grab a mug with his shaking hands. Yongguk continued staring, not letting go of neither mugs. He really was weak against Himchan. He didn't know when or how the younger started to take over his apartment, his mind, and eventually his life but he did. He didn't know how their relationship lead to this path but he didn't really care because it's Kim Himchan and he couldn't think of having anybody else to be stuck in this chaos with.

He placed the mugs down because he seriously felt like dropping them (but that would mean cleaning up and he hated the hassle) before staring at the younger male who was still avoiding his gaze.

" So what if I did?" Yongguk started, making the younger male stare up at him in confusion.

"Not talking to you, not seeing you, not having you come over," the elder continued, "not having you invade my space or nag at me. Not having you take over my sofa and make me your personal furniture too, actually," he chuckled and Himchan just stared, not knowing what to say.

"You're stubborn and you never listen. You go by your own pace which usually takes me off guard but I still get carried away nonetheless. You complain when I don't eat properly and even go as far as stocking my kitchen with groceries and checking every week," Youngguk chuckled and stopped the younger from his protest.

"I like drinking with you. Be it coffee or beer or juice, I like it. I like being able to talk to you about things nobody else knows up until who knows what time. I like having you around because this damned apartment always seem so empty when you're not-- and it wasn't like that before. Trust me," Yongguk ruffled his own hair, not really sure where he (or his mouth) is taking himself.

"I like kissing you too," he started and almost chuckled when the younger blushed beet red, "but I don't know if it's worth liking enough to have me go crazy from not having you around," he continued and the younger male stood there in shock.

"What are you saying then?" Himchan finally asked, staring at the older male, wanting to move but not daring to.

"You just got out of a relationship," Yongguk said, ruffling his hair, turning away from the younger male. Himchan stared warrily at him, letting out an "and?" which caught the elder male in surprise.

"And you're hurt, you weren't thinking properly, and" the elder started, taking the younger male by surprise when he turned back to face him, " I don't want to take advant--" he continued only to be interupted by an agitated "And you're trying to say?" from the younger male.

Yongguk stared right back at him, not moving or saying a word and Himchan could feel his heart race and stomach flip a million times.

"What I'm saying is," the elder finally broke the silence as he took a step forward, almost closing the small distance between their bodies, his eyes not letting go of the younger's gaze. Himchan swallowed, his throat feeling drier than a desert. "Am I allowed to like it enough to do it again?" Yongguk finished, hesitation evident in his eyes.

None of them moved for what seemed like forever, simply staring at each other until Yongguk averted his eyes, urging the younger to take a step forward to make him look back up into his eyes.

It's funny how being so close can take their breath away, but it did. As cliché as it seemed, just simply being around the younger took Yongguk's breath away along with a million other sensations that only a certain Kim Himchan can bring.

"Say it properly," Himchan demanded with doubt, uncertainty, and something so close to being love (Yongguk didn't want to assume) swimming in his eyes and Yongguk couldn't help but drop his head on the younger's shoulder with a sigh.

"It's going to end up sounding so cheap," he finally said with a small, weak chuckle.

"I don't care, I'll give you 120 won," Himchan whispered, desperation clawing at his insides but the pain doesn't register at all. Yongguk let out a genuine laugh (the one that showed too much gums and sounded like the most melodious thing Himchan has ever heard in forever) before saying; "Wow, I never knew it was worth that much."

"Hell, I'll give you 10 000 won," the younger offered.

"Oh, it got even highe--" Yongguk teased to ease the atmosphere (not sure if the one shaking is him or Himchan or maybe both of them are) only to be interrupted by a desperate "Please" from the younger male as he held on tighter to the elder like a life line.

Yongguk never knew such a simple shaky word can sound so desperate or lost that it hurt. It shocked him how a single uttered word can have so much power over him, making him feel a million things all at the same time.

It terrified him how having the younger in his arms can make him so whole-- so complete and the mere thought of not having Himchan in his life can make him feel as if his insides were being grinded into small pieces soon disintigrated into nothing-- leaving only the empty shell that was him.

Himchan already took up so much of his life in a flash that he became incapable of thinking about anything without him in the picture. How long will this last? How far can they go?

Who the hell cares?

Yongguk lifted his head and cupped the younger male's face into his hand (and damn how right it felt), muttering an apology as he stared into the younger's eyes.

"I love you," he whispered as he leaned in to capture the younger's lips.

"I really do."
