Suzy's POV

“What else does he want? Aish.”

I saw how Amber almost threw her phone away out of irritation and started throwing her tantrums including cursing herself non-stop while banging her head on the car window. But there I was having fun instead, watching my fiancé’s cuteness. She looked cute without trying, especially when she's this pissed.

“You had an argument with Uncle Liu again?” I cupped her face in my small hands and touched her wrinkled eyebrows, straightening them. “Don't let him stress you that much, you'll get ugly if you always frown like that.”

“I finally sealed the deal for Eastbrook Paris and now he's telling me to review it again and haggle on the contractors? Psssh. Like it's easy for me Suz. I'm no business genius like you guys. If he just let me pursue my own field, I wouldn't be--

I pecked Amber's lips to stop her babbling and she did. She just sighed and her head found it's way to my lap and rested there.

“Wake me up when we get there.” I began patting her head while playing with the fringes of her black hair and after a while, I heard little snores coming from the sleeping prince on my lap.

When did Amber and I got this comfortable, that I didn't know. It seemed like it was only yesterday when we were just bickering around and she would always push me away. But I managed to thaw her frozen heart somehow. We kept in touch when she went back to China while I went back to the States for school. We became friends, we would always talk for hours despite our time differences. She let me call her Amber, not Yiyun, because she wanted me to be a part of the life she wanted to live. Weeks later she surprised me after one of my classes. She flew all the way to the States just to say sorry when we fought over her drinking habits. Amber turned to me when she needed help in her work, she began taking me out on dates too. We held hands on our third date and from then on Amber would rest her head on my shoulder or just hug me out of the blue. Now she doesn't complain anymore when I randomly kiss her like earlier.

But Amber never gave a definition of our relationship. Yes, we're engaged but I wanted us to be engaged by our own choice. I'm waiting. I don't care how long but I'm willing to wait for her to say those words.

I love you, Amber. Will I still be able to hear those words from you after today?

I looked out of the car window, watching the beautiful shore of Jeju island. As we got closer to our destination, the fear in my heart grew even more. Today, Amber would come face to face with the love of her life. Today, I might lose Amber to the real owner of her heart.

“K-Krys...” Amber stirred. I caressed her face and let my hand rest on her cheek.

It was like an intense slap to my face. I closed my eyes to prevent the tears from falling but they flowed endlessly. Maybe I really didn't stand a chance. No matter what I say, no matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, Amber's heart would always be with someone else. Amber's slowly opening herself up to me, I wanted to hold on to that at least. Even though I couldn't have her heart, being here by her side at this very moment was enough for me.

“We just arrived, young miss,” Zhang Yixing who was sitting on the driver seat in front, told me. I sensed that he heard what Amber muttered earlier in her sleep, he made me feel his sympathy through his eyes.

“I won't lose her, right?” I asked, wiping the remaining tears away and started retouching. Yixing just forced a smile.

“I'm sure my lord isn't stupid enough to leave someone who stood by her through her desolate hours,” he said. “But young miss, if one day Krystal comes to take her back, I hope you will make a decision that you won't regret.”

His last words, I knew exactly what they meant.

“Wake her up now, I'll wait for you outside.”

Zhang Yixing stepped out of the car and left me alone with Amber. I didn't know how to wake up this sleeping angel from her peaceful sleep. All I knew was I just wanted stare at her handsome face all day. Might as well keep her from seeing the girl who hurt her with the bestfriend who betrayed her.

* ring ring *

I heard her phone ring for the nth time. I checked who the caller was and found out that it was her friend Kwon Yuri. Nervous about her own wedding, I guess.

“Baby, wake up!” I poked Amber's face several times until she stirred. “Wake up. We're going to be late,” I whispered on her ear and planted a kiss at her temple. Amber slowly opened her eyes and met mine.

“Wh-Where am I?”

I guess she's still in her dream with Krystal. * sigh *

“You never made it right. I can’t believe I’m going to marry someone who doesn’t even know how to wear a bow tie properly,” I teased when I noticed that her bow tie was a little off and fixed it immediately to suit the silver dress suit that my fiancé was wearing handsomely. I felt her beautiful eyes on my face, I just wanted to savour that moment.

This might be the last time that you're going to look at me with those eyes, Am.

“You dreamt about her again, huh?” I smiled weakly as I finally finished with her bow tie. Amber's guilty expression made my heart hurt even more.

“I-I’m sorry. I just—

“Are you sure you’re ready to see her with someone else?” I couldn't help but ask. I'd rather take her with me somewhere far than see her hurt. I held her hand and gave it a light squeeze. “You can always back out, Am. I don’t want to see you hurt,” I voiced out. Amber held my hand tighter and caressed the top of my hand with her thumb.

“But I promised to be the best man of this wedding.”

Because you want to see Krystal.

“Are you sure you’ll be alright?”

Just say 'no', I'll take you away from here, Amber.

And I gave up when she responded with a nod. I guess there's nothing I could do to hold her back.

“Your friend called for so many times already.” I showed her how many calls she received from Kwon Yuri. Amber pushed her Note back in her pocket and surprised me when she pulled me in her arms. I let my body melt in Amber's warmth. I wanted to cry, knowing that this moment would end soon and never happen again.

“Suzy, thank you,” Amber uttered in her husky voice, one of the thousand reasons why I fell in love with her. I couldn't help but giggle at her sweetness, setting aside my negative thoughts for a while.

“What are you thankful for all of a sudden?” I asked, still enjoying the feeling of her arms around me.

“For everything. For coming into my life and for coming with me today.”

I was touched. I never felt this appreciated, I was so happy that I could just die. My heart was beating like crazy, beating for Amber's name over and over again.

Maybe I still stand a chance.

I pulled of from our embrace and I gaze at those brown eyes that I love most.

One day, those eyes will only look at me. Only at me, Liu Yiyun.

“Anything for you, baby. I love you.”

I kissed her lips once again and for the first time Amber grinned after the kiss. Her hand searched for mine and we walked towards the wedding venue with each other's hands.

Just hold on to me, Amber. I will never let go of your hand anymore.
