Yulsic Wedding Part 3

Bridging Gaps

Yuri's POV

It's about time.

The door to forever opened and my best man led the way. Our guests all stood up as the wedding march began to play and Amber started the procession. My dear friend who was strutting towards the altar earned several squeals from my girl workmates. I couldn't help but imagine how they would react if they find out that the girlfriend of the person they're drooling about happened to be the chairman's daughter. I also managed to see Victoria's reaction who was looking forward to see Amber too. She was about to cry seeing her beloved dongsaeng who stepped aside for awhile and gave her a hug. The path to the altar was not so long that Amber managed to get at the other end quickly. As soon as she got there, my true friend, my best man smiled at me. She gave me two thumbs up, encouraging me to follow.

I sighed. It's just normal to feel this nervous, right? I was too nervous that my feet were nailed on where I was standing. There were still lots of things that kept worrying me about this marriage, including our family's disapproval and the criticism that Sica would be facing as soon as we got married.

No, Kwon Yuri. You can't be thinking about those things now.

I looked once again at the people around me. My friends, my workmates and several of Sica's classmates from med school came to witness how we would unfold the new chapter of our lives. They were all wearing bright smiles, each of them sending me their congratulations through claps and howls. I felt relieved realizing that there were still many people who support me and my future wife.

I began to take a step forward and guests cheered louder for me. This time I couldn't stop smiling at them especially when my colleagues began teasing me.

“Say goodbye to our noraebang nights, Kwon!” I laughed as Professor Kyu led the teasing game while Seungri, my disco buddy back in college followed up with “Your girlfriends are going to miss you, Yul!” I just shook my head lightly and smiled to myself, remembering how I used to be way back before I met Jessica. I definitely had a lot of girlfriends back then.

“You look handsome today, Yul,” Amber greeted me as soon as I joined her at the end of the path. I was too grateful to this idiot that I couldn't help but pull her in for a brotherly hug. For all the things she did for me and Sica, I would forever be thankful to her. “Y-Yah, I can't breathe. Get off or they'll think that you're going to marry me instead,” my best man said.

I jokingly punched her stomach lightly and as usual, the dork overreacted by pretending to be hurt. We both grinned at our childishness and high-fived each other before I stood properly beside her.

“Amber, thank you,” I told my friend in all seriousness. “I wouldn't be here today if it's not for you who was stupid enough to put the ring purposely on Sica baby's ice cream. If not for you, that ring would still probably be in my pocket right now while Sica's still hopelessly waiting for me to pop up the question.”

Yes, Amber did some sort of pulling strings to make me propose to my beloved girlfriend. The next morning after we got drunk to our hearts' content, I woke up in the Jung's apartment with Sica in my loving arms. We ate the American breakfast specially prepared by Amber who left nothing but a note about ice cream for dessert. And when Jessica took a mouthful of the green tea ice cream, she ended up choking until she coughed out the ring that was supposedly inside the mini box in my pocket. Jessica was all furious but she shut up when I got down on my knees and proposed to her.

“Nah, don't mention it. You're just being a rat back then. It's quite obvious that Jessie noona was just waiting for you. And Yul, I'm more grateful to have a friend like you. I will always have your back no matter what.”

I smiled to my best man's statement as we both watched the other end of the aisle with the lovely little Jung in her pink mini dress, ready to take her turn for the procession. She's not happy, that was evident from her face. I knew that she's still not in favour of my marriage to her sister but at least she didn't tell their parents about it too, I was thankful for that somehow.

“Back in college we have always talked about how you would get married first or how we could marry at the same time to save expenses. I'm sorry if had to go first, Amber.” I told my best man who was there watching every step of Krystal's walk. Her eyes were no longer filled with the same love like she used to and were left with nothing but admiration. Of course, anyone would get enthralled by the little Jung's beauty and that didn't spare her forgotten ex-girlfriend.

“It's alright, Yul. Suzy and I might follow soon,” she told me, eyes still fixed at Krystal. I returned my gaze to my sister-in-law who was past halfway the aisle and was sending those Jung death glares towards our direction. I traced her eyes and I found out where exactly she was looking at.

“Amber, what did you do this time?”

“Nothing. I just made sure that she won't forget me for the second time.”

Sorting the reason behind Krystal's glares, Amber might have just made herself unforgettable to the little Jung.

When Krystal finally joined us at the end of the aisle, my heartbeat's tempo changed at the same time the music change. I couldn't feel the beat anymore as the door to forever opened once again, revealing the most beautiful woman I've met in my entire life. Our eyes connected like magnets as we pasted the happiest smiles on our faces. As my beautiful lady in white began her steps to meet me, I felt like crying out of overflowing happiness. Never have I thought that someone like her would fall in love with me.

Today, I would be marrying Jessica Jung. The Jessica Jung who's just so extra ordinary. She possesses this extremely strong force which I assumed to be stronger than gravity and she made me fall for her that hard. She's a picky-eater, a lousy dancer, a sleepyhead, a nagging girlfriend but she's Jessica Jung, the love of my life, the girl of my dreams, my forever. I wouldn't mind those flaws as long as she thoughtfully feeds me when we eat, stupidly dances to Gee when I feel down, dreams about me in her sleeps, makes it up to me when we fight out of her jealousy.
I love her for who she was, who she is and who she will be. I will love her until the day I die, I will still love her on my next lives.

Jung Soo Yeon, saranghamnida.

Amber's POV

Though I sort of promised myself not to stay too close to Krystal, our situation as Yulsic's best man and maid of honour made it quite hard to do that. We had to sit right next to each other with our seats too close, making our shoulders bump each other's most of the time. And everytime that happens, Krystal would give me those scary glares while I would just pretend not to notice like she's non-existent.

Seriously, Krystal had changed. A lot. Like she's totally a different person. Though she still looked as beautiful as ever and had the same mannerisms, her outlooks in life and her treatment to our friends had changed. The way she looked, the way she distanced herself away from me, it's funny that this girl happened to be my ex-girlfriend and the girl that I was supposed to marry.

"If any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace," the minister announced. Silenced filled the room in response but this girl right beside me was fidgeting on her seat. Her hands were shaking, a sign that she's nervous, confused. And I knew exactly why she was acting like that.

My fingers unconsciously landed at the top of her hand and before I realized what I was doing, her ice cold hand was already wrapped inside mine. We were both shocked by the sudden contact but surprisingly Krystal didn't make a fuss out of it. She gazed at me instead, her eyes that were on the verge of tears did the talking. For the first time today, I saw the Krystal I once knew.

“Yuri is the only person who can guarantee your sister's happiness. You know that, Krystal-shi,” I told her. She looked at me hopelessly but still held onto me.

I didn't know how long we were holding each other's hand but I had to let go when I was summoned by the minister for the wedding rings. The wedding was almost done as the couple were just about to exchange their vows but Yuri was still shaking nervously that she almost slipped the ring on Jessie noona's pinky finger. And at last, true happiness was radiating from the smiles of my friends after they shared their first kiss as newly-weds. I couldn't be any happier for them, they were definitely meant to be.

Congratulations, Yul. You finally get to marry the girl you love.

The ceremony felt like forever and I just wanted to run away as my mind started streaming bitter thoughts about my past, about the marriage that almost happened a year ago. The presence of the almost bride-to-be on the same wedding hall with me wasn't helping at all. I got over everything alright, but it's just that the wedding pricked a painful memory.

I caught a glimpse of my fiancée who seemed to be having a good time with some of Yuri's female workmates. I couldn't help but wonder how Suzy could be effortlessly beautiful and just seeing her smile made my worries and doubts go away. Without Suzy, probably I would still be lost right now.

“Stop with the sticky stares, you don't want a melted butter girlfriend,” the girl beside me commented.

“Is it my fault that she's too pretty and I can't help staring at her?” I replied, still eyeing my fiancée who seemed to have really good senses. She waved at me wearing her cute eye-smile and I waved back, earning a 'Pssh” from Krystal.

Seriously, Krystal? What's your problem with me?

Krystal's POV

How dare this llama flirt with that ugly girlfriend of hers in front of me?

Ugh. Krystal, it's none of your damn business.

As much as I was itching to sit beside Minho oppa, I ended up stuck beside this Amber who did nothing but made me feel like I was invisible. I might have promised myself not to have business with this gay person beside me but her silence was just irritating the hell out of me. If only Kwon Yuri made Minho oppa as her best man, she would have gained my favour at least.

“Why do you have to be the best man anyway?” I directly asked Amber but the idiot didn't respond. Either she was too lost watching Yulsic's drama or was just pretending not to hear, one thing's just for sure. This Amber was really trying to mess with me.

So what if she's handsome? So what if she's rich? So what if her hand felt so good in mine that I just wanted to hold onto her forever? ASFJHJK. Scrap the last statement. She's still a stupid arrogant llama-dinosaur cross breed. Consider herself lucky being gifted with irresistible charms, everyone wouldn't want to have one less handsome creature in the world.

But Krystal, you have to admit that the way she speaks to you feels so warm. Right, Krystal-shi?

Stupid brain! Are you with me or not? Like how Harry Potter used Parseltongue to tame snakes, Amber had this certain language to tame girls. That llama is obviously a player.

Still, she feels so warm and nice. Maybe Amber used to be a close friend of yours too. She's feels so familiar, right, Krystal-shi?

Stop, Krystalshi-ing me in that pleasant husky voice, you stupid brain or else you would go crazy just by thinking about it.

“Krystal-shi.”

Goddamnit. Don't use that sweet tone on me.

“What?” I was too irritated that I didn't realize it was Amber who actually called my name. I might have answered with a sneer but Amber's face remained calm. Actually, her expression looked softer, nicer, like the face of an innocent child. Somehow I felt guilty treating her rudely.
I met her gaze and once again I started to drown in those deep brown pools. Amber's eyes, they had this effect on me. Like they're giving me this hint of familiarity, like the owner of those eyes were telling me how much she cares. But why would Amber care for me?

“What is it?” I snapped at her before we both get lost in each other's eyes.

“Thank you,” she uttered, forming a thin smile on her y lips. That smile wasn't a sly one, not a smirk either but a sincere smile instead. “Thank you for letting them be happy.”

Them? You mean Kwon Yuri and Jessica unnie? Well if it's not for you holding my hand, I might have stood up and objected their marriage.

“For letting Yuri marry your sister, for giving Minho a chance to love you, thank you for making my friends happy, Krystal-shi.”
And with that, Amber left my side and walked towards the newly-wed couple. She trapped Jessica unnie in her arms then pulled in Kwon Yuri right after. They were rejoicing, laughing and jumping like little kids playing around. I felt happy seeing my unnie smiling like that. My sister went through a lot of hardships while juggling between med school and taking care of me. I couldn't ask for more now that she's happy.

Maybe you're right, Amber. Kwon Yuri is my sister's happiness.

I didn't know I was smiling while watching them until Jessica unnie reached out her hand and signalled me to join them. I didn't hesitate anymore and joined their little celebration. But when Jessica unnie pulled me in for a big hug with Kwon Yuri and Amber, I suddenly wanted to retract. With me being squeezed with Amber's face so close to mine and letting me inhale her intoxicating signature scent, my heart began to race in 200 beats per second. Somehow, a part of me was wishing that happy moment to last forever.

“Now get married you two!”

Both Amber and I froze and stopped jumping with them when Kwon Yuri said that all of a sudden.

“Seobang!” I saw Jessica unnie slapped her wife's shoulder and widened her eyes at Kwon Yuri for some reason.

“Err--I was just kidding! I'm just so happy to have you guys here like woohoo!”

And the four of us started jumping in circles once again but it didn't leave me oblivious of the fact that the smile on Amber's face faded.

A/N: Bridging gaps is not easy. You need to invest a lot of time and risk your heart to close the gap to that person who has already drifted away. Like constructing a bridge, you have to pick the best materials, build a strong foundation, so that when a storm comes along, it won't fall apart easily. And building that strong foundation takes time. You don't want to rush things because when that bridge fall apart, you will have to go back to square one again. But with a strong foundation, it won't easily fall apart. Remove one brick, it will still stand strong. In this story, Kryber must be building a bridge that will withstand any storm. Both of them must work, not Krystal alone. If only one person do the work, it will take forever to reach the other end.

Annyeong! Our midterms exams just finished, finally I earned some time to make an update. I'll just see if I can write another chap tonight.

PS: We're planning to make Kryber PH official. Anyone from the Kryber Union who could advice us on how to make it possible? :)
