Scene 4

$1,000,000 USD Love!

The day dawned with Moonji focused on the meticulous ritual of masking her true self. She stood before her dresser, armed with an array of cosmetics and a sense of urgency spurred by Kai's persistent knocking on her room's door.

"Knock. Knock." Kai's impatience grew evident as he continued to make noises while knocking on her door. "Do you really need to lock the door?" he inquired, his voice tinged with exasperation.

Panic surged through Moonji as she hastily ran out of her bathroom, her bare face an emblem of vulnerability. She knew she had to put on a mask, one that concealed her true self. She quickly applied a thick layer of foundation, skillfully painting her face with makeup. Her beautiful, big blonde wig was placed securely on her head and anchored with hairpins. To complete the look, she added a large pink ribbon to her hair, an embellishment that amplified her artificial cuteness. Moonji was a master at crafting a façade of confidence, a stark contrast to her true self, plagued by low self-esteem.

With her transformation complete, she grabbed her bag and, mustering her courage, unlocked the door and swung it open.

Kai, who had been waiting in the living hall, was engrossed in his phone, seemingly uninterested in Moonji's transformation. She cleared , announcing her readiness, and made a playful attempt to capture his attention. "I'm ready!" she proclaimed, spinning herself and fluttering her eyelashes, hoping to draw his gaze.

Kai, however, remained unimpressed. He rose from his seat and headed towards the main door without sparing her a second glance. "Are you kidding me? Spinning in front of me like a maniac? Oh Lord~," he muttered, his annoyance palpable.

Moonji followed him, her sense of rejection hidden behind a facade of charm.

As Moonji batted her eyelashes and offered Kai a wink, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of vulnerability deep within. Her whole facade, her carefully crafted persona, hinged on Kai's perception of her. The dismissal in his tone, his offhand remark that she was "ugly," cut through her charming exterior like a knife. It was a stark reminder of the immense chasm between the self-assured, confident persona she projected and her true self, plagued by insecurities.

Undeterred, she followed him towards the elevator, her eyes darting towards him with a hint of desperation, hoping for a glimmer of approval. The confines of the elevator became a battleground for Moonji's internal struggle. She continued her charade, her enchanting facade, in an attempt to win Kai's favour. Her cloying sweetness clashed with Kai's indifference. Each word and gesture met with a stoic response.

"Look, don't talk with that kind of voice; it annoys me. Talk like that when you are alone," Kai's scolding words pierced through Moonji's act. She had no choice but to relent, her voice growing more subdued as her internal conflict raged on. A sense of vulnerability washed over her as she grappled with the duality of her existence—the confident facade she projected and the insecurities that gnawed at her from within.

The ten-minute drive to the school's parking lot only exacerbated Moonji's anxiety. Her nervousness reached a crescendo as they arrived at the imposing school building. The mere sight of the school sent a shiver down her spine, and her palms grew clammy with cold sweat. Anxiety threatened to engulf her, and she yearned to retreat, to redraw from the facade that had become her second skin.

"Kai, can I redraw now?" she couldn't help but blurt out her inner turmoil, her vulnerability laid bare for a fleeting moment. It was an unintended slip, a plea for respite from the relentless charade.

But Kai's response was unwavering, his determination palpable. "Never!" he declared firmly, sealing her fate. He expected her to maintain the act, to convincingly play the role of his girlfriend without wavering. Moonji's internal battle persisted, trapped between her longing for authenticity and the demands of her fabricated reality.

"Wait!" Moonji called out as Kai attempted to exit the car. She hastily retrieved the couple of items she had purchased earlier, suggesting, "Wear this watch, put this strap on your phone... wait, and this phone cover." Her desire to appear convincing in their fake relationship led her to meticulously plan every detail.

Kai, slightly taken aback by her thorough preparations, commented, "You are really well-prepared for this, huh?" Moonji responded with a touch of naiveté, "Well, it's my first time having a boyfriend. It makes me stay alert about these things." Surprisingly, Kai didn't appear annoyed by her voice, as though her contrived cuteness had begun to affect him. Living in pretence every day makes her a person who always pays attention to the smallest details.

Moonji seized the opportunity to further solidify their fabricated relationship. "Oh, we need a lover's name to call each other," she suggested. Kai rejected the idea outright, stepping out of the car with finality.

Undeterred, Moonji pursued him, catching up to him and grabbing his hand. She looked up at him with a bright smile. "What are you doing?" Kai whispered, perplexed by her actions.

"Acting as your girlfriend," she replied, her voice carrying the conviction of her fabricated role.

"No touching is allowed," Kai asserted, pulling his hand away. Moonji nodded obediently, and together, they approached the imposing main entrance of the school building. The attention of everyone nearby was drawn to their arrival, and whispers began to ripple through the crowd.

As they stepped into the building, Moonji was acutely aware of the eyes fixed upon them. The pair became the subject of scrutiny and gossip as they ventured further into the school. Moonji, now fully in character, walked obediently behind Kai, head lowered and demeanour demure.

Suddenly, a beautiful girl caught Kai's attention from a nearby staircase, and she called out to him. Her beauty was unparalleled, and in Moonji's eyes, she resembled an angelic vision. Moonji watched in astonishment as Kai's face lit up with genuine delight upon seeing the girl, and he enveloped her in a warm hug.
