Scene 14

$1,000,000 USD Love!

The day continued with an air of spontaneity and playful banter as Kai contemplated the idea of enjoying Moonji's cooking. He longed to savour her culinary skills. "Where can I find something like a stick or wood in the house at this moment?" Kai inquired, his gaze locked intently on Moonji. His craving for her food was palpable as he seated himself and pondered solutions.

"Kai, maybe you should cook again today, as you know I can't stand to cook today," Moonji replied, shifting her focus to a book in her hands. As Kai moved closer to her, she raised her head from her book, intrigued by his sudden approach. "I could lift you, give you a piggyback ride, perhaps?" Kai suggested, a hint of a mischievous smile tugging at his lips. Moonji agreed to the idea, holding tightly to Kai's shoulders as he prepared to lift her. His strong hands firmly supported her legs as he hoisted her up with ease.

"You're really light for an 18-year-old girl," Kai commented, a sense of amusement in his voice, as he walked toward the kitchen, carrying her. Moonji, now perched on his back, was content, and her heart fluttered at his closeness.

Once they reached the kitchen, Moonji couldn't contain her excitement. "Okay, let's make spicy tteokbokki for lunch!" she exclaimed with childlike enthusiasm, her high-pitched voice filling the room. Kai responded with a cold, but not entirely disapproving, tone. "Yah! Are you trying to make me deaf?"

As they gathered the ingredients, Moonji's chatter continued. "Let's get all the ingredients out!" she urged, still b with excitement. Her words made Kai sigh softly. "Your mouth is just an inch away from my ear. Do you have to scream that loudly?" His annoyance was palpable, but he kept it in check, knowing that he truly desired Moonji's cooking.

With all the ingredients ready, Moonji donned matching aprons for both of them. She tied the apron strings behind her back and noticed something peculiar. "Why is the collar of this apron so tight?" Kai asked. Without missing a beat, Moonji replied with a touch of mischief in her eyes, "Because it's meant for two heads." Kai's eyes widened in realization as their noses almost bumped into each other. "You did that on purpose, didn't you? You actually wanted to kiss me, right?" Moonji teased, her laughter filling the room. Kai retorted, a smirk forming on his lips, "Who wants to kiss you? Stop flattering yourself."

As they began to cook, Moonji became the hands while Kai became the legs of their culinary collaboration. "Your shoulders are broader than they look. It's pretty tough to cook in this piggyback position. I can hardly see my hand," she babbled playfully, finding comfort in the unusual yet intimate cooking arrangement. "The smell is really tempting. We should add some seasoning to it," she suggested her words a steady stream of commentary throughout the cooking process.

Kai couldn't help but smirk at her constant chatter, the warmth of her presence affecting him more than he cared to admit. "This is right!" she declared, taking a final taste of the tteokbokki broth. She sampled it with enthusiasm, her excitement undiminished. "Omoo~!" she exclaimed in delight, her voice ringing through the room as she spooned more of the broth into , savouring the flavours.

Kai, wanting to join in the culinary adventure, couldn't resist any longer. "Feed me. I want to taste it too," he requested, his two hands still supporting Moonji as he eagerly awaited a taste of the boiling tteokbokki's broth. Moonji, however, was too engrossed in her own enjoyment and ignored Kai's genuine desire to share in the culinary experience.

"Moonji, feed me," Kai repeated, wanting to partake in the delicious broth. He watched her expectantly, his own appetite piqued.

"Okay, just wait for a minute," she replied, finally acknowledging his request before resuming her meal. Yet, in the midst of her meal, an unexpected twist occurred. Moonji's eyes widened, and she let out a surprised gasp. CHUUUPPPPPP! A sudden kiss had left her momentarily frozen, her eyes bulging with disbelief.

She was left utterly perplexed, her hand involuntarily releasing the spoon, which clattered to the floor. "I think the taste is okay," Kai casually remarked, unfazed by the kiss he had stolen from her. Nonchalantly, he placed her on the dining chair and took the tteokbokki's pot to serve it as their lunch that day.

"Let's eat~! Thank you for the food," Kai said and proceeded to eat the tteokbokki. Moonji, on the other hand, remained in a state of shock, her jaw nearly dropping to the floor as she attempted to process the unexpected turn of events.

"You should apologize!" Moonji demanded, her voice now filled with indignation as she sat frozen in her seat.

"For what?" Kai, seemingly oblivious to her anger, enjoyed the meal in blissful silence. Moonji watched him with incredulity. "Are you crazy? You stole my first kiss! It's unacceptable!" she cried, her frustration growing.

"First kiss?" Kai chuckled, dismissing her claims with a smirk. "That was absolutely not a kiss."

An argument ensued, and both parties refused to back down. Finally, Kai decided to ignore her and her persistent complaints about her stolen kiss and his behaviour. He rose from his seat, declaring, "I'm full, and now you can start nagging on your own! At least start eating your food, you told me you're hungry," With that, he promptly left the room and headed to his bedroom.

Moonji, left alone at the table, couldn't contain her frustration. She wanted her first kiss to be romantic, but just now, it was nowhere near romantic. She glared at the disappearing sight of Kim Jongin. She continued to eat while lamenting the circumstances, her words punctuated by bites of food. "You should be a gentleman when you want to kiss somebody, not just suddenly crash your lips onto mine," she scolded Kai, her mind replaying the stolen kiss. "If you were smart enough, you should have found a way to taste the tteokbokki broth, not just steal it from my lips. I wanted my first kiss to be romantic, not a tteokbokki broth fight."

As Moonji's frustration boiled over, she couldn't help but voice her dissatisfaction. "Kim Jongin-sshi!" she screamed, her voice ringing with anger. Yet Kai remained elusive, already sequestered in his room. She sighed and took a drink of water, attempting to calm herself. Kai was wearing his headphones and blast loud music, hence, he didn't hear any of her nags and words. Moments later, she slapped her own face a few times, attempting to shake off the lingering thoughts of the unexpected kiss.

"Kim Jongin-sshi!" she called out again, her voice softer this time, her anger tempered by the realization that things had taken an unexpected turn in their relationship. Kai's fast kiss had left her feeling perplexed and unsure of what to make of their budding connection.

"Kai!!!!??? I am here!!" Moonji yelled out, her voice filled with urgency as she remembered her inability to walk. "Kim Jongin~sshhiii! Do you forget about me?" She screamed once more, the anxiety in her voice growing palpable. Frustration began to bubble within her as she pondered Kai's unpredictable mood swings. "I've lived with him for months now, but I still can't understand his mood swings. He could be the nicest and sweetest person on the planet and could change vice versa in a split second," she muttered to herself.

Moonji glanced at the watch on the wall, noting that more than an hour had passed since she had sat at the dining table, engaged in a one-sided conversation. "Kaiiii!!!? Could you give me some help here?" she called out once more, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Kaii!?" she repeated, hoping for a response. Unfortunately, Kai remained oblivious to her pleas, absorbed in his music through his headphones.

Fatigue began to wash over Moonji, compounded by the painkillers and medication she had taken earlier. Her eyelids grew heavy, and she drifted off to sleep while still seated at the dining table.

"I should sleep in the room," she murmured, her voice filled with drowsiness. Moonji attempted to support herself using her right leg but ended up falling to the floor with an unintentional exclamation of pain. "Oucchh!" she cringed, her pain evident as tears welled up. Determined, she clutched onto the dining chair for support, pushing herself to crawl across the floor toward her room. Eventually, she managed to climb onto her bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

"Ra Moonji? What are you doing?" Kai emerged from his room, heading to the kitchen for a drink. "She must be in her room," he assumed when he heard no response from her. Deciding to work and study in the study room, he went about his business.

Kai's eyes widened in surprise when he later returned to the dining area, finding several dining chairs overturned, and dishes still left on the table. Frowning, he went to Moonji's room, concerned by the mess and the absence of her response. "Why didn't you clean up the lunch that we ate earlier? And why are the chairs still on the floor like this?" he inquired, waiting for her explanation.

"I'm talking to you right now," he continued, his patience waning. When Moonji didn't respond, Kai reached out to pat her shoulder gently, attempting to wake her up.

"Kai, just let me rest for a little bit," Moonji mumbled, her eyes closed. However, Kai soon noticed that she was covered in cold sweat, her breathing rapid.

"Oh my God!" Kai exclaimed, his concern escalating as he recalled Moonji's injured leg. "How did you get here? Why didn't you call me to help you?" He felt guilty for having left her alone and allowed her to move to her room on her own with an injured leg.

"Just let me sleep; it really hurts," she pleaded, her eyes still shut. Kai immediately called a physician to come and check on Moonji's condition. While waiting, he hugged her gently, hoping to alleviate her pain.

"I think she should be admitted and cared for at my hospital. I can tell that you may not be able to take good care of her. Her leg condition has worsened since yesterday. She has developed a high fever because her body was too weak to handle the pain," the doctor explained, prompting Kai to reluctantly agree. He packed a few clothes for Moonji and accompanied her to the hospital.

After more than 10 hours of sleep, Moonji finally woke up. "Where am I?" she wondered aloud, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings. "You're at the hospital. The doctor says you'll be okay," Kai assured her before preparing to leave. "I'm sorry for causing trouble," she apologized, offering a warm smile. Kai nodded and left, the weight of guilt still heavy on his conscience.

Upon returning home, Kai headed to the racetrack to help clear his mind and ease his guilt.

Kai later met up with the members of EXO at their favourite club. Kyungsoo, his close friend, couldn't help but about his changed behaviour. "Hey, I've never seen you at this club since you had a girlfriend. What are you doing here?" Kyungsoo inquired, grinning mischievously. "You sneaked to Seoul?" he added, surprised by Kai's unexpected appearance.

"I heard from the others that you're really in love right now. Is it true?" Kyungsoo teased, his eyes gleaming with curiosity as he sipped his drink. "Rumors have it! How could I fall in love with her? Are you kidding?" Kai chuckled, his smile warm yet playful as he glanced at Kyungsoo. His voice lingered in denial. "She must mean something to you since you couldn't come to the club anymore," Kyungsoo prodded, his laughter filling the air.

"Where is she? Is she here?" Kyungsoo craned his neck, scanning the room for a glimpse of the gyaru girl he had met before. "She's at the hospital," Kai replied solemnly, his demeanour serious. "What? Why?" Kyungsoo asked, his curiosity piqued. "She was injured, and I made her condition worse," Kai confessed, his voice tinged with regret.

"Kim Jongin is a really cold and mean prince, nothing to be shocked about," Kyungsoo remarked with a shrug, steering Kai toward the dance floor for some fun. However, Kai refused and chose to go home instead. Struggling to find solace in his thoughts, he returned to his empty apartment, his attempt to sleep fruitless.
