Scene 15

$1,000,000 USD Love!

Moonji stirred from her slumber in the dead of night, her need for a glass of water drawing her out of her dreams. She blinked in surprise, spotting Kai sleeping soundly on the sofa bed that had been set up in her hospital ward. Confusion washed over her as she tried to recall when he had arrived; she was certain he hadn't been there when she fell asleep.

"Aren't you going to school today?" Moonji asked, her voice laced with curiosity, as she watched Kai emerge from the bathroom, dressed in fresh clothes with damp hair.

"Who is going to take care of you if I go to school?" he replied, settling himself in front of her while he dried his hair with a small white towel.

"You're at the hospital. Hundreds of nurses and doctors could take good care of me," she replied with a warm smile, showcasing her teeth.

"So, you don't want me here? Then I should go," he mused, making a move to pack his belongings into his backpack.

"I didn't tell you to go!" Moonji retorted abruptly, her frustration evident. "I'm bored here, and I need my boyfriend here." She playfully adopted a high-pitched tone, eliciting laughter from Kai.

"What are we going to do alone here?" Kai inquired as he sat beside Moonji.

"Yeah, what should we do?" Moonji pondered for a moment. "I know! Makeup! I didn't wear makeup right now, and what if the doctor came in and saw my face? But did you pack my makeup too yesterday?" She chattered.

"No makeup. The only people allowed in this room are your physician and the nurse. Just two people in total, so don't worry," Kai reassured her, occupying himself with his phone. However, they soon found themselves engrossed in playing games on the iPad.

"Kai, pass me the water, please," Moonji requested when she suddenly felt thirsty. Kai complied, handing her the glass after she had finished her drink. However, his attention was quickly drawn to a cut on Moonji's lip.

"What's wrong with your lips?" Kai inquired, his gaze fixed on the injury.

"I fell from the dining chair when I tried to stand up," Moonji explained, her voice filled with a mixture of embarrassment and amusement. Her eyes met Kai's as she recounted the incident.

Kai placed his thumb on the cut, his touch gentle as he examined it more closely. He questioned, "Does it hurt?" Moonji shook her head, her lips curling into a reassuring smile.

Feeling daring and affectionate, Moonji leaned forward, catching Kai by surprise as she stole a kiss from his lips. A rush of panic surged through her as she awaited Kai's reaction. The air around them seemed to thicken with anticipation. Panicking, she braced herself for Kai's anger. But after a few moments of silence, she couldn't help but turn her head to glance at him. "Are you angry? I'm sorry," she said, her voice a soft whisper, barely audible in the stillness of the room.

However, instead of expressing anger, Kai leaned in, his actions swift and unexpected, as he pressed his lips to Moonji's once more. The taste of his kiss lingered in the air, the hospital room seeming to fade away as their connection deepened.

"What was that?" Moonji whispered as they parted, her heart racing.

"That was a kiss, you stupid," Kai smirked, feigning indifference. A hint of a smirk played on his lips as he looked away, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions that he struggled to articulate.

"Yes, that was a kiss, but for what?" Moonji questioned anticipation in her voice.

"You were the one who asked for a kiss, so I kissed you. Simple," Kai explained, engrossed in his game. "I got the same question for you. Why did you kiss me first?" Kai asked as he raised his brow and looked into her doe eyes.

"Well, you are more stupid than I expected. Isn't it obvious?" Moonji chuckled, leaning back against the headrest.

"What? What was obvious?" Kai asked, genuinely perplexed.

"Why do you think I love to cook for you? Why do you think I have stayed patient with your attitude for the past few months? Why do you think I follow you to the racetrack every week?" Moonji rambled on, locking eyes with Kai. "It's so clear."

"What the hell is clear? You're saying useless things," Kai chuckled, nudging Moonji's head with his knuckle.

"This guy is so clueless. It's clear that I really love you!" Moonji squealed, her voice reaching an ecstatic high pitch. She smiled like an infatuated teenager at Kai.

Kai stared at her, momentarily taken aback, and said, "Okay, whatever. I want to go home. Bye!" With that, he waved and headed for the door. Her confession was so sudden he didn't expect it. Of course, both of them get along well alone, but to be honest, she is not someone he wants to be with in his life. She's from a different background, and he bought her.

A week passed, and Kai did not visit Moonji in the hospital. Her condition had improved, and she could now walk slowly. The doctor agreed to discharge her in another two days as her leg was healing well. Moonji had waited for Kai for hours on the day of her discharge, only to be met with his absence. Finally, he arrived to collect her bags.

"Okay, let's go home," Kai said, opening the door.

"How can I go out of the ward like this?" Moonji whined and sat back on the bed.

"Like what? You're okay, don't worry," he replied, taking her wrist and gently pulling her up.

"No, I'm not wearing makeup," she protested, resisting his tug. "I don't want people to look at my ugly face."

"You sit here. I'm going to the counter to settle some documents and payment," Kai instructed, leading Moonji to the waiting area. However, she attempted to follow him from behind. Kai firmly sat her down and proceeded to the counter.

"Hey, you're staring at the floor like it's something so interesting to look at," a man's voice interrupted Moonji's self-conscious thoughts. She froze, unsure of how to respond. The man persisted, saying, "Hey, you shouldn't be rude to people, you know? Look at people's eyes when they're talking to you."

Moonji slowly lifted her head and met the man's gaze, saying nothing. The man continued to , remarking on her shyness. Nurses nearby joined in on the conversation, talking about her reluctance to make eye contact. Curious about the commotion, Kai glanced in Moonji's direction and noticed her amidst the discussion.

"Could you wait for a minute and sign some documents?" a nurse asked, approaching Moonji with patient files. The nurses couldn't help but comment on her beauty and shyness, leading Kai to become intrigued and observe from afar.

Finally, Kai completed his payment and rejoined Moonji. "Let's go back home," he announced, making sure his voice carried for everyone around to hear. Moonji nodded and got up. Kai pulled Moonji close to his chest, covered her face and guided her out of the hospital. She walked beside him with her head resting on his shoulder as her hand clung to his neck. "Just walk like a human," Kai sighed, and Moonji responded, "I don't want people to look at my ugly face."

"Okay, but be careful," Kai stated. Moonji nodded in response and slowly rose to her feet. Kai picked up her bag, slinging it over his shoulder as they prepared to leave the hospital. Moonji couldn't help but feel grateful that Kai had helped her maintain a sense of privacy by shielding her from curious onlookers during their departure.

Once they arrived back home, Kai continued to assist Moonji, guiding her carefully as they moved towards her room. She leaned on him for support, her steps cautious and deliberate.

As they entered her room, Moonji couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. "Kai, why didn't you come to visit me for a week?" She whined, her gaze fixed on him.

Kai's reply came swiftly, "It was examination week."

"Omooo~ I was absent for a week. What about my examinations?" Moonji cried out, burying her face in the softness of her blanket.

Kai reassured her with a calm tone, "Don't worry, the accounting class examination was delayed. I spoke to the principal about the accident. You're lucky your classmates agreed to the delay."

Moonji's face peeked out from beneath the blanket, her eyes wide with gratitude and admiration. With a playful wink and a voice that sounded almost like a child's, she exclaimed, "My boyfriend is my hero!!!"

Kai shook his head with an affectionate smile and headed towards the study room. As he settled into his work, he couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment. It had been a long time since he'd felt this way, and he cherished the feeling that had blossomed between them during her time at the hospital.

At the school, Moonji walked to her class that she had missed for more than two weeks. She was ashamed to meet her classmate, but she needs to face it with a brave heart.

"Thank you to all who agreed to delay the examination for me." Moonji bowed ninety degrees in front of her class. "We agreed because we need more time to study. Not because of you, Moonji." A girl suddenly replied, causing everybody in her class to laugh.
