The Great Stone Dragon

Bring honour to us all

The Wu family consisted of 6 generations, starting with Wu Feng, then going onto Wu Choi, Wu Zhang, Wu Lee Sr and Wu Lee Jr, eventually ending with Zhou's father Wu Tang.

Each of these men had brought much prosperity to the Wu family. Feng had built the family home and cultivated the land out the back that had once belonged to them. However his grandson, Zhang, had been less intent on caring for the family property. He lost most of the family's money to gambling, and had had to sell the land to local merchants to get enough to get out of the debt.

To say the least, the Wu family fell into hard financial times buy the time Zhangs son, Lee, was born.

It was Lee's son (also called Lee) who had taken drastic action in calling upon help from the local council.

The council sent them 3 guardians, who would take care of their money problems. They weren't free, but the council agreed that the family only had to repay the guardians when they had the money.

The first one was nick named 'the great dragon'. He was known as this because of his ability to have authority and power without being too harsh. His real name was Zhang Yixing.

The second was nick named 'Mushu' which referred to a slightly scrawny, red, dragon like creature. He wasn't called this because his physical appearance, for he was not unattractive in anyway at all, but for his ability to be both great and terrible at the same time. Mushus real name was Kim Jongin. Jongin was known for causing trouble for both Yixing and the Wu family.

The final guardian was 'the hawk'. He was sly and had a darkness about him that made you fear him instantly. But he could get the best prices on all food and was able to sell the smallest of things for the largest of prices.

The Wu family never knew his name.

The three guardians stayed with the Wu family until Lee (Jr) died and long into the life of Zhou's father.

Three statues were placed around the temple to remind the family of all the help the guardians had brought them.

The 'great stone dragon' was placed into the garden next to the fountain. The incense stand with Mushu hang in the temple.

But the hawk statue (which had previously been placed on top of the temple) had been stolen only a few weeks after it was made.

Legend said that the guardians would come back to help the Wu family when it was in crisis.

"Now would be a good time to wake up!" Called the old man as he sat onto of the grave stone labelled 'Wu Feng'.

He had long white hair and a long white beard. His robes were a bright red with gold embellishment. Even his presence in the temple screamed 'wealth'.

The man called out to no one in particular again, but again there was no answer.

He sighed and tapped the incense stand with the metal carving of Mushu the guardian on it.

With a flash of bright light, a young man stood in the place where the stand had once been. He swayed slightly on the spot, dressed in plain robes with a floppy cap covering his head. He eyed the old man blearily and then seemed to realise where he was.

"LEE!" he yelled and grabbed the old man into a bone breaking hug.

The man, who was taken by surprise, awkwardly patted the younger man on the back. Eventually the young man let go of his elder with a large grin on his face.

"I thought i'd never see you again! You know, with us being dead and all!"

"Yes, yes... but there are more pressing matters to speak about! I need you to wake up The Great Stone Dragon!" Lee said importantly.

"erm.. who?" The man asked, scratching his head.

"Yixing, Zhang Yixing!" Lee pushed the younger man out into the garden in the direction of the stone dragon statue.

The young man walked over to the dragon and cleared his throat.

"Er... " He looked back to see an expectant Lee smiling hopefully at him. "Erm... Hey, er, Yixing it's time for you to get up i suppose..."

Nothing happened, the man looked back again and gulped, seeing the angry expression starting to appear on the old mans face.

"Ok, listen here you lazy idiot, if you don't get up right now i'll make you wish you were never born or worse!" The man muttered angrily to the stone dragon.

"Ah, Jongin, I always knew you were a bit mad..." Said a voice from behind the man.

The man, Jongin, turned round and let out a surprised gasp.

"Yixing?"

"You were talking to that statue... I know it's quite realistic but really Jongin?"

"But..."

"Anyway, it think Lee is waiting for us!"

"Yeah..."

"It's good to see you, by the way!" Yixing smiled at Jongin and pulled him into a hug.

"You too, Yixing!"

The two men looked at each other for a moment, for they hadn't seen each other in over 50 years. Yixing was wearing his old robe of blue and gold whilst Jongins rope was a deep red.

Really fitted with the Mushu image.

"Are you two going to stand there all day or will one of you help me?"

"Ah, sorry Lee!" Yixing bowed deeply to the old man.

"Ok, so the problem is this..."

Lee told the two men the story, and the solution that could be put into place, and then asked which would like to venture out to complete the task.

"I will go, to up hold this families honour!" Jongin immediately said.

"Um..." Lee started but got interrupted.

"I can promise that no honour will be harmed under my influence!" Jongin continued, his voice getting more desperate as he went on.

"Jongin.." Lee once again got stopped.

"And if you think the thing that happened with Liu will happen again, i swear it will not!"

"Jongin, i think Lee wants to tell you something." Yixing said innocently, looking tiredly between the two men.

"Ah, you see Jongin, it's like this.." Lee began.

"You don't want me to go." Jongin cut in.

"No! I mean, yes..but its only because i don't know if i can trust you with such a big task!" Lee patted the man lightly on the shoulder. "But Yixing will be happy to go in your place and complete the task! You will not fail us will yo-"

Lee stopped talking for Yixing had fallen asleep on the spot, resting his head against a grave.

"Oh..."

"Does that mean..." Jongin said excitedly, but quiet enough not to wake the sleeping Yixing.

"Yes! But if you mess this up..." Lee stepped forward. "You'll regret it! Just stick to the plan and all will go well!"

Stick to the plan.

He could do this.

Wait... What was the plan again...?
