Chapter Fourteen
The Weapon Master's SonTension was high for the entire night, and Kidoh quietly agreed to keep an eye on Sehyuk, since he was acting so strange. They all knew that it was an effect that the sword was giving him, and it could affect any of them. Hansol kept the sword close to his own body at all times, unsure of his own companions now. He was pretty sure he could trust Sanggyun with it, but still wouldn’t chance giving it to anyone else. He quietly told Byungjoo that he was going to keep it with him, instead of giving it back, since he didn’t want to younger man to get hurt, if anyone tried anything. Byungjoo understood, but stayed close enough to protect him, if anything happened. Hansol seemed to enjoy the special treatment, even though he was trying to be the protective one, himself. He didn’t object when Byungjoo insisted on sleeping next to him that night, finding comfort in the closeness.
Early the next morning, he woke up to a lot of commotion. Nakta shook him awake, pulling him to his feet. “We need to get going. Xero heard something coming and it could be more of the creatures that we killed yesterday on the way here. Let’s hurry!” The tall man looked afraid and anxious, his eyes flicking to Sehyuk momentarily. “You have the sword, Hansol?”
Hansol frowned, unhappy about being suspicious of one of his most trusted men. “Yes, I do. Thank you for asking, Nakta,” he replied quietly. He smiled at Byungjoo, who already had his own sword drawn. “If it comes down to it, I’ll use the Crimson Sword myself, if we need to.”
Nakta nodded. “Sounds like a good plan.” He sighed, staring in the direction that they could hear the creature coming. It was after the sword again, so they needed to run. He saddled his horse as quickly as possible, then ran over to help others gather their weapons and get on their horses.
Hansol shook his head, remembering what the sword had done to the creatures the day before, pulling it out and rushing in the direction of the creatures before anyone could stop him. He could hear Sehyuk yelling after him, probably telling him not to go. Remembering Sehyuk’s actions the night before, he continued toward the creatures.
