Chapter Ten
The Weapon Master's SonThe group approached the Crystal Waters carefully, weapons drawn and ready for an attack. The water was still and bright, silvery blue, just as they had been told it would appear, and it didn’t look like something that held the powerful depths to restore a sword to its former glory and power.
Sehyuk smiled, glancing at Jenissi. “I’ve heard that these waters hold healing qualities, also. Who would like to be the guinea pig?” He grinned, pretending to shove the other man in. Jenissi grinned at Sehyuk and the leader earned a slap on his arm from his apparent lover, Kido.
Hansol ignored Jenissi’s jokes and let Byungjoo dismount before climbing down from his horse’s saddle, himself. The young Weapon Master’s son looked nervous as he held the treasured sword tightly in his hands. “I guess this is it, then,” Hansol said, glancing at Byungjoo. “Now we simply dip it in the water and it should be restored, right?”
Byungjoo shrugged, his face still pale from sickness. “I guess there’s only one way to find out, right?”
Hansol frowned, pulling out his own sword. “I guess so,” he replied quietly, trying to hide his concern for the other man. He noticed that some of the others had readied their weapons, also. Xero stood at a distance, his arrow knocked and ready to strike, if needed.
Sehyuk, Kido and Jenissi walked in front of Byungjoo to protect him from anything that might try to get the sword. They hadn’t seen anything, and Hojoon hadn’t felt any danger yet, so they seemed to be clear.
Hansol began to walk over to the water, and Jenissi pushed him back, shaking his head. “I’m sorry, prince, but I don’t want anything to happen to you. Your life is more important than this sword.” The mercenary smiled at him gently and Hansol smiled back.
“I hadn’t really heard that kind of talk when I was growing up, so thank you,” the young prince seemed nervous, and Jenissi smiled, knowing that he was concerned about Byungjoo.
Sehyuk sighed. “Hansol, you’re easily the most important person here, despite what your parents might say. Screw them, if they’re not going to treat you with the respect that you deserve. Don’t put up with their bull, okay?” He flashed a smile at the prince before walking forward and looking into the water. It looked normal, so they could go ahead and advance. They walked to the edge of the water, Sehyuk taking the lead and dipping his own sword into the water. As soon
